OK, so I was taking a stroll and came upon this place. Yes, a Dollar Tree equivalent!! I couldn't…read morehelp but laugh and I just had to go in! It was extremely busy. I was surprised by some of the nicer items they carried. For example, they carried nicer quality souvenir magnets for one Euro... the exact ones sold for 5 Euros in other souvenir stores! If you have little patience, this is not the store for you. It is small with lots of customers and only one cashier. I still had fun checking it out, though!

Shopping here is very much a treasure hunt to find good deals so you will need to be patient. That said, I didn't really like the product selection nor did I like the pricing. Felt like I could get better deals back in the US. If you have the time to search and can deal with crowds, you may come up with something here but I would rather sightsee or eat and drink than spend time looking for an elusive find.
Needed a suitcase. Selection was very good. Price was reasonable. What else is there to say?read more

It's very similar to the ones back home, as far as layout and design. A major difference is this Aldi has a butcher shop and a bakery within its store. A very nice benefit.

Conveniently located near the Hauptbahnhof (the central train station) and next to several hotels,…read morethis Lidl is more targeted for the people who live in the area with the usual collection of groceries, produce and suchlike that you need on a day-to-day basis. When I stay in a hotel, I like actual milk for my morning coffee and not those little packets of powder, so I popped into this Lidl and picked up a quart (technically, a liter) of low fat milk for the hotel room fridge. There were plenty of other things that looked good, but I can't bring any of it back home, so I had to walk on by. Labels on most products are only in German, though some were in English. No worries, it's easy enough to tell by the pictures. Milk containers still look like the milk containers in the US and UK, orange juice and cheese and chicken breasts all look exactly the same no matter what the language. I also picked up a bag of the most amazing delicious chocolate hazlenut wafer cookies that I am sure I will never see again. :-( Bags are not free and you have to use a €1 coin to release a trolley. They do not accept credit cards. Cash or debit cards only.

I get that most second hand shops in Munich are like boutiques, and I respect and enjoy that…read moreatmosphere and value the price point that goes along with curating the shop floor and showing selective items. But this sort of second hand fashion means upto 80% you donate still ends up in landfill. Flohpalast on the other hand sells everything. Ones trash is another's treasure. The prices are cheaper, the shelves are packed from top to bottom and the stock is updated and discounted daily. They value the true meaning and sentiment behind second hand fashion etc. I think most of these people and second hand organisations forget 1- this stuff is donated 2- it's about reducing waste 3- it's cheap for a reason, the people who buy second hand might not always be doing it out of choice but necessity. This accessible, kind, welcoming shop is the best charity shop in town because it's the only one that's actually like a flea market!

Primark is just awesome. The premise is simple - pretty good quality clothes, accessories & home…read moregoods for cheap. This one is not awesome cause it's off the main areas of Munich. If you're near Marienplatz @ that whole are, You have to take the underground metro/ subway. It's not hard. One way ticket costs euros 2.90 and it's off the U5 line. The store is in a mall that has all sorts of other shopping options. If you want to do some serious shopping, it's worth it to take a few hours out & trek here. This store is 3 levels. Home goods, men's, women's & children's clothes & all sorts of makeup, skincare & other accessories. Quality is great if u compare it to Walmart or other discount stores in the US. Prices are very low esp considering the taste, quality & fit of the clothes. I docked a point off cause I waited in checkout line for ever. Like 30 mins. Also place is a bit of a mess later in the day & didn't see employees putting items back together. No bathroom too folks. You have to pay euros .50 to use the main restroom in the mall. That's just not cool. I get that it's a European thing, but still totally uncool.
