I wanted to update my 2016 review to list some better alternatives in today's 2020 internet like cloudflare who is an absolute industry leader (but only accept transfers), and for new registrations as well as transfers godaddy continues to impress me. See my 2016 review for fun and other possibly still relevant ideas. read more

I've been with NetSol since 1999. I used to love their service! I have registered hundreds of domains with them and am a "Gold VIP." Over the past couple of years customer service for "Gold VIP" (they have a dedicated line) has gone from excellent to abysmal. There is always a bad connection on their end in the Philippines that creates a delay, so essentially their reps and I are talking over each other. It used to take two minutes to register or renew a domain; now it takes fifteen with needing to be transferred to a supervisor. I can't simply order online because they don't offer the Gold VIP rate that way- you HAVE to call in. I miss the old NetSol. read more

I really wish I could give NO stars. I'm a pretty seasoned eCommerce professional, who has worked with a wide range of hosting companies for a myriad of clients, and has even worked for a SaaS company that hosted all of its own websites / databases. With the above being stated, this is by far the WORSE tech support I have ever had with a tech company. All I was doing was my clients domain from a home-hosted server to an ecommerce hosting platform... normally a 5 minute task. When I got nowhere on my own, as I kept on getting errors, logically I called up tech support. Oh, boy, was calling them a mistake... first of all, I was on hold for almost 30 minutes before anyone answered. Secondly, they kept on asking me for my phone number, not to use as a call back if we got disconnected, but to ask permission to call me with offers! SERIOUSLY?!? A) I'm not the owner of the domain, he is my client, and I can assure you he doesn't want you to call him. B) He has been a paying customer for over 5 years, his account shouldn't be barraged like this before even offering tech support. Third, after speaking to the person for about 10 minutes, all he could offer, in his thick Indian accent (and I don't care if he is Indian, or in India, but I would like to be able to understand him... and I say this as a bilingual person with a penchant for languages), all he could offer was to email me a set of instructions. W T F ?!? I then called back a few hours later and the above also got repeated, however, this time, even though I was in the correct screen, the agent wanted me to start from the beginning so she could follow the steps of the pre-written script! Seriously?!? I call any other tech support and the agents know what they are doing and where to go without needing documentation! I asked her to transfer me to a 2nd level tier and she wouldn't do so. I hung up the phone. I already told my client we need to change domain hosts and he agreed. Now of corse, I have to wait until the weekend to move the domain name in order to minimize website downtime... NEVER, EVER work with this company, you'll just end up wasting time and money!! read more

I'm a little relieved to see that I'm not crazy in thinking Network Solutions is horrible. I am after all a competitor of theirs, so my opinion is at risk of being biased. However, I think I am justified in this review as I would not give the same review to other competitors such as GoDaddy, Blue Host, Host Gator, Lunar Pages and others. I would actually give those competitors 3 to 5 stars easily. I often have to migrate customers from Network Solutions over to my service, and I've found that Network Solutions puts up various incomprehensible and ridiculous road blocks to transfer away from their service. For example, if you want to change, and realize you have an old email address associated with your Network Solutions account, they will put a 30 to 60 lock/freeze on your domain(s) refusing to allow you to transfer after you've changed your email address (or any other aspect of your contact information). Keep in mind that having a valid/current email address is necessary for the transfer to work. They claim this is a security measure, and yet I've found no other Registrar of the above mentioned ones that follows this practice. In my opinion, they are dishonest and immoral in their practices. This is just one of the ways in which they strong arm customers into staying with them. The amount of work involved in transferring is just too daunting for the non-technical, and it's even very frustrating for me. Please do not use Network Solutions as your registrar or web host. Even if you don't use my company (Host Pond), use one of the other competitors mentioned above. There are many great choices for hosts out there, and Network Solutions is not one of them. Update : GoDaddy just added a 60 day lock when I change the primary contact email address. Fortunately, they also directed me to the ICANN rules that *allows* this behavior. The same ICANN rule also states that they must remove the lock within 5 days if you request that they do so. So don't put up with this from Network Solutions, Go Daddy, or anyone else! http://www.icann.org/en/resources/registrars/transfers/policy Section 3(6) "... and upon request by the authorized Transfer Contact, the Registrar must remove the lock or provide a reasonably accessible method for the authorized Transfer Contact to remove the lock within five (5) calendar days" read more

So after realizing, a little too late, that I renewed with Network Solutions for my one domain name with them I was shocked at how much it cost. Ended up costing me $48 for a year. It was $10 for "domain protection" and $37.99 for the year registration, $38! Also turns out my domain doesn't expire until 3 months from now. Right afterward I looked up the reviews and realized how bad they were. Last year I renewed with them too and ended up forgetting to renew and only found out after my domain name was "up for sale" and I had to scramble to buy it up for $68 as a "penalty" for not renewing on time. The thing is the domain expired that day. After reading some of the horror stories about transferring domain names (apparently takes 3 days to get your authorization code) I decided to purchase a similar domain name from namecheap to prepare for any issues dealing with them. It's unfortunate that I would even have to prepare for something of that sort but I will update this review with what happens, good or bad. Other issues I've had with them in the past are email setup. I've purchased domain names from namecheap and been able to get one free email with my domain, which seems typical. With Network solutions you don't get that and in fact I was led to think they provided a free email account up until I noticed a monthly charge show up on my account. I do remember having to wait nearly two weeks to hear anything back via email and now it looks like you can't even do that. I just tried to contact them via email and they make you fill out a simple form with a "well give you a call". The one good thing is that I didn't purchase anything else from them. read more

I have been trying for the past three weeks to change my email address in order to change my account password. Signed up for their website hosting. Thought it was great until I get an email from them 45 days later. They claimed I was storing an "excessive amount of non-website related material" on their FTP. They sent me the names of four folders where the alleged excessive material was. I looked at my FTP account and couldn't find the folders. I called their tech support. Their guy couldn't find the folders either. He told me to write a letter explaining my position, that I was falsely accused of their allegation of storing excessive material not related to my website. I did. Didn't hear back from them after two weeks. I called and cancelled my account and asked for a refund. Sorry...no refunds after 30 days. I have to shower twice every time I think of Network Solutions. Tread carefully with these folks. Tread very carefully. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THEM. I used them for domain names years ago when they were the best bet, but these days it's just a nightmare dealing with them. Their website is confusing, they make it impossible to transfer domains away from them, and are a pain to deal with. They routinely put 30, 60, or 90 day 'locks' on certain actions if you violate unknown security policies, such as updating the registrar more than once in a month. I work in web / tech for a living and these guys are just not good people. read more

If you are looking for a web host with terrible customer service that will arbitrarily take down your website without notice and then tell you that you need to figure out the issue on your own, then you have found your dream web host! I've never seen a web host that has as many issues as these guys. Unhelpful, rude, and not at all in touch with their business. Whats more is that they don't seem to understand that some people make their living off of their websites and invest significant sums of money into their marketing efforts. There is no sense of urgency or care when there are issues that arise because of an action taken by Network Solutions internally. read more

Network Solutions used to be the name brand for domain registration and DNS control. I recently had a need to make changes to a client's DNS entries. After searching all around their site and not finding a way to add an "A" record for a new server, I gave up and called the support line. After a long wait, a representative picked up and claimed this obfuscation was a security measure and by design. Security measure? She wanted authorization by a known contact which is understandable, but she dropped my call when she tried to call him and dropped my line. I waited 5-10 minutes, but she didn't call back. If anyone has had a similar experience, they know how frustrating this is. I don't know if this since they were acquired by web.com but they have lost every bit of credibility and substance they once had in my book. read more

There seems to be a recurring theme of incompetence since being acquired by Web.com.(same company that owns Register.com) Had a customer that was having POP issues in Outlook after the password had to be reset because the old one mysteriously got reset (2 or 3rd time). Was told that if I wanted to speak to higher level tech about issues ,it was $59 bucks. Wait,we're paying you for nsmail and you have a script reader that won't let me talk to 2nd tier support without a credit card charge? I am bringing the email in house and from there they can go fuck themselves. PS,seems they got hacked as my customer was sent a perfect link to a web page that looked exactly like the NS admin page for his company. I just happened to catch it when I was asked about that email and the page came up without a login or SSL cert. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy ,eh? read more

This is the worst web hosting company. Network Solutions is too busy trying to upsell that they don't bother to improve or even maintain their tech infrastructure and support. Make sure you have a lot of time to spend on hold when things go wrong, the average wait time is 30-60 minutes. And then a representative from India will apologize profusely for the problem and then tell you they'll get back to you in 72 hours. And then you'll never hear from them again. Until they want to sell you something. read more

I've been a Network Solutions customer for over a decade. I've purchased both DNS and Hosting services from them. Continuously hosting for over 10 years. Since about mid-September 2018, just after my last renewal, I started seeing server response times of 10-15 seconds (that's right... SECONDS...). Since September, I've opened 5 tickets with support, and been told nearly every imaginative BS reason why SERVER RESPONSE TIME, is a problem for my specific installation. Firewall problems... Wordpress Plugins... Intermittent Network Performance Problems... My ISP... My Wordpress Theme... Here's what I did... I began testing from 15-20 sites, globally located... Compiled statistics on all stages of serving webpages from several different sites hosted using the same service. Different plugin configs... Different themes... Consistently, I found that server response time was in the 10-15 second regime (in many cases, I found that the server would actually respond with an error page). I submit one more trouble ticket... This time with detailed stats, and images of error pages from OpenResty. I get a long winded response dismissing my issue AGAIN with various potential problems... Canned response. Tech closes my ticket... Then... I move all of my stuff to Bluehost... Re-run the same tests... Globally... On average... I'm seeing a 1400% improvement in server response time ( 550-700 ms ). Not one failure in over 1500 page accesses. I contacted Network Solutions today and asked for a pro-rated refund. Explained that I'm leaving to go to a competitor. Their response "It's not our policy to issue refunds after 45 days". My response to that... Good... I know a half dozen other people that I'm now going to assist with moving THEIR services to Bluehost. They are having exactly the same problem I was. Netsol... A simple pro-rated refund would have cost you about 100.00... Now... It's going to be MY policy to make absolutely sure that I pull as much revenue out of our poorly run business as I possibly can. I promise you, it's going to hurt WAY more than 100.00 would have. For anyone considering hosting with Network Solutions... Don't... Their hosting service is horrible. Technical support is completely free of clue. The homebrew configuration interface is 10 years old and really painful to use. Consider Bluehost... Cpanel is great... I was able to transition five sites to a new Bluehost service in under 24 hours. Free SSL cert. Excellent customer service... My pre-sales interaction was pleasantly worthwhile. If you are currently a Netsol customer, and you're having problems... Don't despair. It's not you. It's Netsol. Run... Don't walk... Away from Netsol... read more

As a seasoned web developer with hundreds of websites under my belt and even more clients whom I've assisted over the years, I can say that I CRINGE when I have to deal with Network Solutions. Their backend capabilities are antiquated for today's web developer. Their DNS (domain name server) issues take quite a long time to propagate...IE: you moved your hosting service to ABC company and need to point your domain over there..I usually encounter a very long wait time. And their domain prices???? $35 a year???? What in the world. If I have a choice I usually recommend people run away from Network Solutions read more

Stay away from the company. They scammed me out of money. They hosted me for a while and then when i moved website to godaddy, they continued to bill me on my card. I noticed earlier in the month and called them..took a long time to get someone who then said they would cancel. I asked them to refund me the money and i got an email that said too bad too sad..even though they were not giving me any service. I THEN just noticed that they billed me again and i called again to cancel..i am now probably going to sue them for the money they owe me (im a lawyer) and look into a class action since this billing practice may not be isolated to me!! read more

Do not, under ANY circumstances, use this company. Absolutely horrible. Network Solutions serves up a delightful mix of confusing admin controls, flaky services, and deceptive marketing practices. Want to point your DNS at a new server? Good luck, you're as likely to end up with your site on their Under Construction defaults, even if you triple check that you input the right settings. It's part of their fun through chaos and unpredictability program. Want to be called by every company Network Solutions has on their MyCircle speed dial? Well, make sure you don't read the small print on their "Update your contact info" page because by default they have you auction your life away. This is the absolute worst company I can think of to host domains, web hosting, DNS, email, anything. Avoid them like the plague. They are a pile of dog poo. read more

Registered a domain name very cheap with them. But few months later found a recurring charge on my credit card statement. Waited over half hour on the phone to talk to a live person and then was transferred to their loyalty department if i wanted to cancel it. Waited over one hour after being transferred and still no one picked up the phone. During waiting they advertised we can get most issued resolved by going to knowledge.web.com and "THERE IS NO WAITING." I gave out waiting on the phone so I went to the website. I was #6 on the queue, so the "THERE IS NO WAITING" was totally a lie and false advertisement. After waiting for 20 minutes someone accepted my chat but told me I still have to call their loyalty department for the cancellation. In more than one hour my issue was still not solved. read more

I've used them for years to have all of our business domains in one place. They have been great until I decided to try their eCommerce Platform. Spoke with them and let them know what I needed for a small 15ish item merchandise site for our membership. Even though it's a small site there are specific things we needed for some items. (ie: member only uniforms, and public BCA fundraiser items) The problem was the salesperson said that the basic site ($260ish) would work for what I needed, I'd just call the support line when setting up and they'd be able to assist. So I did and it didn't do any of what he said. So they said that they could add it separately or I could just upgrade to the next eCommerce at $600ish. This person sounded even more convincing and that they know what they were talking about and since it was in the 30-day return policy, I could return that one for the premium one. I got the premium and they said I'd start over with the 30-day to return. that's why they had to return the other and issue a completely new one. So, I worked with it a little and I will admit that I was actually 2 days past the 30 when I called for additional help. They admitted that no this premium site won't do what you need but you can have one built for you from one of our experts. UGH!! Of course, that would be expensive and at this point, I was just pissed that they will lie to you to get you signed up then try to upsell you for more money so I just wanted a refund. Though it was past the 30 days I still felt it was fair because they simply lied!! And everyone knows that changing hosting is such a pain that most will just go with it. I think that's what they count on. They gave it to a "supervisor" and I didn't hear back. When I called back, they said that the policy changed from 30 days to 3 days and the account auto-renew had been taken off. I said the 30-day wasn't changed when I got it and the salesperson said I would have that time. Anyway, they sent it to a supervisor with a ticket number. this time I received an email response saying that because of their 3day policy they wouldn't refund it. The salespeople don't know their own product and just tell you that it'll all do what you need so you'll sign up and pay. I'm really disappointed in Network Solutions and though it's a pain in the butt to change providers, hosting, etc, I will start moving things from them. read more

This company is the WORST! I'm sad I can't give less than 1 star! First they double charged me, and that took me 45 minutes to finally get someone to understand what happened and fix it (My refund will take 8-10 days ! But damn if they were'nt ready to take it!) Then, they will not even allow me to build a website on the domain name I PURCHASED FROM them! Calling customer service is a total joke, it is almost impossible to reach anyone....and if you do, I sure hope you have at least 27 minutes to wait on hold while they forget about you. (That's all I could take, I had to hang up). My many, many e-mails to customer service have gone unanswered and unacknowledged. This is all in a 4-day period, mind you. I want a refund of 100% of everything I have given them....they can even take the domain name back. The company is awful! I never want to deal with them again. And yes, my company also uses them...and yes, I will make sure we will cease doing business with this crappy company as well. read more

I've been using Network Solutions for more than 12 years as the registrar of my domain name. I had my account set to auto renew. Today I got a billing notice of my 3-year renewal - $113.97, i.e. $37.99/year. It was $9.99/year!!!. What happened. So I called them. They said it was stated in my agreement that they could simply charge whatever they wanted. After stating they were they are the single most expensive domain name registrar on earth, they forwarded me to another person who instantly changed my charges from $37.99 to $9.99/year and promised me a refund of $84. Not sure if I will ever see this refund though. I looked at 12 years of billing and found that they: 1. changed the auto renewal period from one year to three years without my permission. 2. once they got away with #1, they upped my yearly costs from $9.99 to $27.99 to $34.99 to $37.99. I'm grateful they reduced my payments to a normal amount (so they say), but bottom line is they are sneaky bastards who hope you'll never check your auto renewal bill. Do not allow auto renew! read more

For over a decade, I was a VERY loyal Netsol subscriber, using them for both domain regs and hosting (for several domains), but in the past year or so (now that they're a part of Web.com), their former excellent customer service has become one of the world's worst. My latest experience happened AFTER I renewed my Web hosting for one year, for reasons only they understand, they suspended my account, didn't bother to inform me, and brought down my Web site (and email, of course). When I called them to find out what in the world they were doing, the rep offered to unsuspend my account for 15 days (even though I just paid for a whole year) while Billing could research why they suspended my account in the first place. Years ago, Netsol's products and support were second to none. How far they've fallen. I'm researching alternatives and will be leaving Netsol within the next 60 days. read more

Quite possibly the worst customer service and tactics a company could have. We used them for many years to be our domain registrar. We paid 3-4 times what we should have for renewals. Transferring away from them was made as difficult as possible. Multiple 1 hr long calls... paperwork needing to be faxed in... and they still messed up the transfer. Because they had our domains... we setup custom DNS to point to our web server and email accounts. About 1 to 2 times per year they would switch our custom DNS back to default. This causes outages for us. After calling support they tell you the answer is to host it with them... nice tactics... I am on hour #4 of trying to cancel my accounts... been hung up on 2 times... transferred to 3 departments... and still have not been able to cancel. Might be easier to cancel my credit card then to deal with them any longer. read more

BEWARE! SCAM company! Bait & Switch! If they give you anything for free it will cost you more than doing business with a legitimate company! They charge for things most companies include. Including canceling! And they charge your credit card for bogus charges. The amount of time wasted dealing with their support people who are rude and useless at solving issues is ridiculous. They offered a client a fifty cent domain name, but the extra charges made it useless. Since you cannot transfer a domain name for 60 days, you can't use the domain even though you own it. Network Solutions is the worst web host provider I've every had to work with. My clients who use them are always being over charged and always getting terrible service and customer support. As I write this, I have a customer who's website is down. D O W N. DOWN. Yesterday we realized network solutions randomly reset her username and password without telling her, so I couldn't do a routine update to the site. After my client called to get the new logins and I go to make the actual update, we find out today the website is just down. (and it's been down for A FEW HOURS now) I can't login to the server via FTP, nor can I actually load the site url in a browser. plus all the websites what will check if a site is down for everyone are reporting the site is down for them too. And talk about the worst customer service. I was 7 levels deep in their automated phone menus before it connected me to a busy signal --I'm not exaggerating. It rattled off all these automated options and I made a selection 7 times before I was ultimately given the standard telephone busy signal. On top of that MY CLIENT'S WEBSITE IS DOWN. DOWN. right now. down for hours. and there is not a link to click on the network solution website to report it as down. there's no hot-line to call to say MAY-DAY MAY-DAY MY SITE IS DOWN!! no web chat support. no nothing. I will be advising my client to move to another service. As I always end up doing for clients using Network Solutions. And it's always like this, because Network Solutions fails them miserable. read more

I would give them no stars if possible. The basics. Network Solutions is expensive, outsources their customer service to overseas call-centers and like a few other registrars have no online way to cancel a service you have purchased; you must call in. FYI - they were hacked yesterday (10/31) during the DoS attack and all customers are being asked to change their ftp passwords "to improve" security. Is this really the kind of company you want to trust your domain and websites to? But my issue is the lack of customer service not their edge security incompetence. I had to make 7 phone calls and ask for an escalation each time and then I would be told someone would call me back within an hour or two. No one called back ever. An email was sent to me after my 6th call to them saying they had closed my ticket and thank you for being a customer. I've never talked to anyone outside the phone bank and even though their own system says they charged me 12.95 they won't refund it because they say they already have. Apparently it doesn't matter that the billing history in account manager shows no refund successfully being processed and my Paypal register shows no refund. But they don't care. So considering GoDaddy and 1and1 plus all the other small registrars and domain hosts out there do want my business I won't ever again spend one cent with NS or any of their affiliates. In the pantheon of bad customer service they excel and might actually be 1. So save yourself some heartburn and a lot of regret, don't use them for anything. read more

Quite the scam to say the least. I had the same appalling experiences as everyone else here with the countless unapproved charges, terrible customer service, etc. so there's no need to echo them. Instead I've offered some great alternatives below. (It honestly feels like Network Solutions' strategy is to be condescending to customers and to just take as much as possible. Please do not support these types of business practices. It's kind of scary that this type of business model is able to remain in business in this country.) I'd highly recommend using Squarespace or Wix instead. In my opinion they are two of the best, most ethical, website registration/hosting companies. Wix also offers a two week money-back trial period and Squarespace offers a pro-rated refund should you decide to change your mind. FYI, I would absolutely avoid GoDaddy for domain registration. If you search godaddy.com for a domain that you are interested in purchasing, you should go ahead and buy it immediately after the first time you do the search. Otherwise, I have both witnessed myself and heard from several people that your domain will no longer be available, even a few minutes later, as it's assumed that GoDaddy was alerted of the interest and decided to purchase it for themselves but will then offer to resale it to you at a greater cost than the first time you conducted the search. If you want to educate yourself, here's a great review comparing and contrasting the Wix and Squarespace: http://www.websitebuilderexpert.com/wix-vs-squarespace/ read more

This is possibly the worst domain registrar in existence. My only experience with them has been helping my wife's family company redirect their domain to the new website I created for them and oh my jesus I knew something wasn't right when you basically needed a computer science degree to change the DNS settings just to get them to work and then another red flag was when they want $12.99 just to simply point the domain to another website. Also, I looked through the account and they had been charging my wife's family company $37.99/yr for domains that should've cost $12.99/yr at the most. DO NOT USE this shady company. Network Solutions did actually do what I paid (a lot of $$$$) to do. Other domain registrars do the same thing for much less money. Just web search for domains or domain name registrars. However, before I could get my last domain away from them, they placed a multi-year renewal on my services without my permission. When I emailed to complain they responded that I needed to call them.
