I was looking for a steak to throw on the grill and wanted to give this business a try as there are only a handful of markets on this side of the state that specialize in meats. They had all the meats you would expect too see where I settled on a Porterhouse steak based on 1). how the steak looked and 2) price which was very reasonable especially in light of todays inflated meat prices at $12.99 a lb . Upon getting the steak home I was quite pleased with the end product. The meat had an appropriate amount of fat for a Porterhouse, was very tender and just as importantly was very flavorful where the meat was definately a cut above the other grocery stores in the area and on a par with Neiman's which has tad higher prices in my opinion. Based on my initial experience I will definately consider this market in the future where I will be leaning towards a nice Ribeye the next time round. People are friendly and the location just a block off of US23 is very convenient and hard to \beat considering its close proximity to other key business in the area to include Walmarts, coffee shops and assorted restaurants. Nice!!

Thank goodness for the "new" Au Gres IGA…read more I was heartbroken when the old IGA closed several years ago. But now a new owner has brought it back to life! Remodeled, and right sized for the community; I am hopeful that we can keep it going this time around. The new deli is amazing, with great food at great prices! Selection throughout the store is decent, but not excessive. If you need it, they will most likely have it. Yes, the prices are a little higher than 20 miles North at the Tawas Wal-Mart. But, if you want a local store to be there for you, then you have to be there for it on a regular basis. So we tend to drive up once or twice a month to do a big buy at Wal Mart; and then go about every other day to the Au Gres IGA for everything we need on a daily basis. I love my local IGA.

After reading several mixed reviews, we deciding to try this place hoping for the better review…read moreexperience... so glad we did! I can only think the complaint many of the negative reviewers shared were either their bad timing on an off night, already addressed by management, or the reviewers just have poor judgment or perception. One, the place is clean, well maintained, and current in decor and atmosphere. It gave the vibe of upscale, but comfortable and relaxed. Two, we were immediately greeted by Noah, who showed us to our table and then returned as our waiter. This young man is either well-trained in waitstaff or well-raised, as he was very courteous and professional, personable without being intrusive, and attentive to our experience at the restaurant. Three, there was hardly any wait time, which seemed to bear most of the complaints in the negative reviews. We were seated and within minutes had our drinks. As soon as we set our menus down, Noah was there to take our order. A few sips of our drinks and we had our appetizer. Half way through the appetizer and we had our meals. Following dinner, dessert was delivered within minutes of ordering. Four, the food was excellent. The artichoke/spinach dip has a unique recipe we really enjoyed. The salads are their own blend and the burger was excellent. Onion rings are cut thick and breaded lightly, so you actually get onions and not breading. Dessert... Chocolate Lava something... we split it, and so glad we did... it was very good, but rich. Five, the prices were moderate. If a reviewer is on Yelp, they've already reviewed the menu on Yelp, so why complain about the prices if you already had the fore-knowledge of where you were going? The prices are moderate and very reasonable for the atmosphere, food, and service. Overall, we are glad we ignored the negative reviews and took a chance on this one. Five stars for us, and each one was earned.
