The first experience was pretty smooth because of my mother- law's mellow personality. She had Parkinson's which was a difficult disease to deal with physically. The caregivers were kind and respectful to her. We also trusted them in our home. More recently, my mother has gone through some quick changes with her mental capabilities after a serious operation. Physically, she does well and is very independent. Caring Connection has been extremely flexible with us scheduling hours and re arranging their caregivers to my mother's pickiness. She has been very difficult in not wanting to lose her independence. These kind people have visited my mom in a Sr. Community where she is in Independent Living. They are helping to keep her there. Wella, Barb, Jonathan, and Susan (social worker) have all been wonderful with giving my family guidance as we deal with this difficult situation. We tried other services in the past and none of them were as knowledgeable, flexible and most importantly caring to each individual needing the care. I highly recommend the Caring Connection. HH

With all the experiences that we have had in the past with home care agencies, this is by far the best. They made us feel like a Part Of their family. I can't thank them enough for all the help that have provided for me and my loved one and are still providing. From my family to yours, if you reside in PA and are in search of a Home Health Care provider, choose this Agency. We promise you will not be disappointed.

I heartily do NOT recommend A Part of Our Family/Home Care for the 21st Century. I should have…read moreknown that A Part of Our Family was going to have problems delivering care for my adult son. The first caregiver came to my home with Brenda S. the Client Care Coordinator. Brenda was wearing a mask, Anna was not. Brenda knew that my entire family was vaccinated and boosted. I stupidly didn't think to ask Brenda until the next morning if Anna was vaccinated. Turns out she was not vaccinated and my suspicion is that that's why Brenda was wearing her mask. So, I found another caregiver and referred her to A Part of Our Family so that she could care for my son 2 days each week. Christiana is a single mom with admirable ambitions for her career and finances. My husband & I relied on Chrissy to care for our son so that we could babysit our new granddaughter, go on our own appointments, and have a break from caring for our son 24/7. We were accepting of her fairly frequent short-notice call offs; giving our son COVID then being off for 2 weeks to take care of her daughter; short notice to take her daughter to a doctor in Delaware even though she could have told us weeks before when she made the appointment, then deciding on her ride home that she couldn't come the next day either. There were other instances of coming late, leaving early, texting the morning of saying she wouldn't be able to come...most of the time it meant my husband & I had to reschedule our own appointments, sometimes multiple times. I asked Brenda to find someone else to help cover for when Chrissy couldn't make it, but she never had anyone. Eventually, Chrissy called off one two many times and my husband & I felt that having Chrissy come was causing more stress instead of being a help. When I asked Rhoda Enfield, the Director, if they could find someone more reliable to be our son's caregiver, her response was to say they were giving US our 2-week notice, and even though the Agency was supposed to be providing 2 days/week of care, they'd only be able to provide 1 day. They made no apology for Chrissy's call-offs and certainly did NOTHING to find other caregivers. When I asked why they weren't offering sign-on bonuses, higher starting hourly rates & raises for existing caregivers with the CARES/ARP money from the Office of Long Term Living, Rhoda said that the agency had expenses and was allowed to use the monies however they wanted. Obviously, they care more for receiving money from the State programs and Medicare, then they do for providing care to their clients and reasonable wages to their employees.
