About 2 to 3 years ago, I had them come out to my house to discuss what I wanted done for a quote. Knowing it was $75 just to have them come out to discuss. After we described what we wanted - great he said he'd get back to us with a quote. I never heard anything back. I even called them and left a voicemail to tell them I owed them $75 and where do I send it? They never even returned my call. I hope everything's OK with them, but a call or email response would have been the right thing to do. read more

We hired Jerry to replace our sprinkler system and fix the landscaping after our pool build. Sprinkler system is good as far as we can tell. Pool floods after he "fixed " the drainage. Also, we have a large crevice in the yard after his guys tried to fix that. Stuff happens. Not concerned about that. After all, Jerry looked me in the eye and said he guarantees all his work. Well, I can tell you that he doesn't. I could hear him cussing me out over the phone because when I asked him about the hole in the yard he thought I was complaining about a piece of missing sod. I was not and he would have known that if he had bothered to show up and check it out. We are now in the position that we have a quote for $5k to fix what he did. Wish we had chosen someone else. I am afraid to ask him about this as he might cuss me out again. read more

From not doing the drainage correctly (which we emphasized as the very most important part) to your employees laughing about the stump being ground into my pool when the guy came out the second time, to the argumentative way your wife confronted me when we had to repeatedly ask for the job to be done correctly. I would agree that your work reflects your company values and standards. I hope other people notice you did not respond to any of that. Your lack of concern or effort to do this job correctly reflects on the way you do business. Unfortunately, when you don't supervise your employees and the job is done wrong - incorrect drainage, dirt in the irrigation system, grinding stump directly into my pool - and then blame it on your employees - it's on you and your company. I didn't hire your employees. I hired you and that was the mistake. You had an opportunity to respond in a positive way or make this right, but instead you responded by attempting to make me sound unreasonable. And you left the job a complete disaster, refusing to even respond. read more

Not enough superlatives to express the job that Nesmith Landscaping did in transforming my pool area...not only did he do everything tgat he promised but when he came back for the final walk through, he didnt like the way a downspouts looked so he had his guys remove the pavers, dug a trench underneath my fence and ran a pipe underneath the ground and installed a popup emitter...and even painted the white pvc pipeline Brown to match the downspout....they replaced all the grass that was damaged and cleaned up...Couldn't tell tgey had been here.... Purchased our home in Tallahassee. Before moving from Washington I made a trip out to get some things done. I hired Nesmith to re-grade my back yard where there was standing water, re-route some downspouts away from the house, and re-sod the whole area. Jerry Nesmith got his guys started and left. One guy spent most of the day on his phone. I asked the guy who seemed to be in charge about the slacker, he told me he didn't care because this was HIS last day at Nesmith. Obviously, none of them cared. I had to fly back to WA the next day. When I finally moved here the yard still had standing water and I found out they had cut the power line to my pool filter while trenching. I called Jerry to ask if he'll cover the cost of repair or at least split it. He said he would not give me a single nickel. Not good business practice. read more

NeSmith put a stone paver walkway at the side of our home. The stone work was well done and looks great. There are turns in the walkway that required precision fitting. It was well done by craftsmen. Worst contractor/handiman ever. He over promised to get the contract to build a back deck and then went on to construct a piece of junk that gets worse every day. A lot of the cut are off by a quarter of an inch to almost 4 inches where he had to jam in shims. He promised that everything would be to code but he failed there too. He met none of the requirements on the major points of the Florida Code. Oh, about his over promise, when he realized that he was unable to do the key point of the contract he promised to have someone else do the job as a favor to him. When the bill came in at $475 he got made and indignant that I would expect him to keep his word and make good on the job. I gave him a One Star rating because the site would not let me leave it blank and there is no opportunity to put in a negative star. NEVER USE NESMITH read more

I can not say enough about Jerry with Nesmith Landscapes, we built a home had landscape work done, which Jerry did not do to begin with, learned my lesson there. Then we found Jerry he came in and redid all of my flower beds which are now AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL and just done right!!! HIs employees are great people to work with there is no communication issue at all. He also made me a paver walk way with lighting, and put lighting in for us. he does great work. My experience with NeSmith was decidedly negative. I requested a quote for patio construction and landscaping at my Tallahassee residence, with the potential of subsequent work at my plantation. We (Jerry NeSmith, the proprietor of the business, and I) met to discuss my concepts and desires. He was friendly and professional; we had an unhurried, cordial conversation; he offered constructive suggestions for the project. Supplementary information as requested was provided, and he promised the quote within a week. And...that was the last seen or heard from him. After approximately ten days his office was contacted, and the person who represented herself to my assistant as his wife assured the quote would be forthcoming. This never occurred, and NeSmith failed to respond to several subsequent contact attempts. In my experience, NeSmith's conduct was discourteous and unprofessional in the extreme. NeSmith generally has a positive reputation; however, based on this interaction I refuse to recommend him or his company, nor will I engage him for work at any of my residences or businesses.
