However, when returning for the unveiling, it all went downhill. I'm talking about one man in the office and one man of the grounds crew driving the golf cart. When we arrived, it was raining, I went inside to make sure that our previously made arrangements with Courtney were being followed. A tent and chairs were requested. The chairs were there completely filled with water, like tiny swimming pools. The tent was nowhere to be seen. I asked the man in the office if we could please have our tent because it was raining, he replied "there is an overhang, unless the rain is driving sideways you will be fine." I did tell him the name of the person we were here for, and he should have known that there is no overhang where we were sitting. Therefore, we would not be protected. We went outside to make sure that what I had said was true. Lo and behold, there is no overhang. There is one on the side of the mausoleums, not where we were. In any case, a man comes by, a supervisor I assume, driving a golf cart with crew members walking along with him. I went over and said, "excuse me, sir, do you have any towels we might use to wipe off the chairs?" He looked at me blankly and replied "we don't have any towels." He then proceeded to throw a dirty, small yellow rag at me. As you can imagine, at an unveiling, for my family member, I was not in the mood. I walked quietly to the seats to wipe them off, where I discovered the mini swimming pools. There was a kindly looking crewmember near me, I asked him if he had any towels for me. He very nicely took the rag from my hand, produced his own as well, and proceeded to wipe all the chairs off. At least there's one crewmember that looks kindly upon people in their sadness. These may seem to be small or petty indiscretions by the staff. The inconsiderate office manager, the rude crew supervisor, the incompetent person who handled the unveiling reservation. I can assure you if you were burying a family member you would not be in the mood for this nonsense either.

We made an appointment to speak with the representative named Jacqueline Schuller. We spoke with her and she laid out what would be required. My wife and I had a choice of a funeral here in Florida or having the funeral by north and Jacqueline laid out the costs for both. We opted for going back north. She gave us all the information we needed to make an intelligent choice; what was best with us personally considering all aspects of what would be entailed. After some delays which were cause by family circumstances, (she kept in touch throughout the delays) we were able to meet with Jackie and complete the agreement. Jackie laid out all the prices, what we would be included in our costs. There was no pressure, no incidents of trying to sell us more than we wanted. She listened to our wants and needs and presented us with just what we wanted. Jackie is a perfect person for her position. She is professional, and knowledgeable about everything involved with the pre-planning, giving us pointers on what we should be looking for and what we did and didn't need based on our discussions. She is also very personable and made us feel completely comfortable. She made the "purchase" easy and something that made an unavoidable discussion a lot easier to take. So my first hand experiences here were not to be present for any services but to plan for them. When I walked in, I was given a warm and friendly greeting, then introduced to one of the sales staff. I questioned and he gave answers with regards to cremations, burial trust, religious or other services, floral arrangements and obituaries. I think I have this correct that you may contract through various companies which share in the use of Broward Burial & Cremation facilities and each of these companies specializing in certain matters such as price or lavishness ceremonies. Though I haven't contracted for anything as of yet, I remain well impressed with their offerings and capabilities.

In the days immediately following my dad's death, we had had too many family members trying to influence our decision. Burial or cremation. We ended up waiting too long and had no choice except to cremate my dad. We had my poor father's remained shipped to us and when I received the package I wanted to absolutely DIE. His cremains were leaking out of the pathetic interior box they used. Opened it further, his cremains were sticking to the clear packing tape on the exterior box and leaking through the corners of the shipper. I only have the ability to talk about this now because it's been some time, my sister handled most of the arrangements and never even saw the box because it was shipped to me. I have worked in the funeral industry since my father passed away. And I am absolutely appalled. A clear plastic liner should have been used to hold my father's ashes inside the black box inside the shipper. I have never, ever seen one NOT used. So my father ended up being spread through Fedex's shipping network. I have seriously wondered if the cremains I received were even my fathers. With no way to prove it, I can only hope that they are. I will never ever forget how horrible things were handled. My father should not have leaked out of the box. And the lady handling the arrangements in their office was horrible, I hope to God she was fired. She verbally assaulted me over the phone. I hope God punishes her.
