They also have a gym, a snooker table, badminton courts etc. It's a really good facility. There is even a local library and a cafe. Parking is completely free around the centre, though beware of rolling trolleys in high winds! There's also a good bus service and for anyone walking in, I wouldn't recommnd the walk alone but all footpaths are safe and a way from the road. The Rainbow leisure centre has a main hall, squash courts, a pool room and bar, a library, a cafe, a gym, pool and a smaller hall usually used for aerobics classes or bouncy castle parties. It's open 7 days a week and offers pretty much any sport you can ask for. You can hire it out for quite a few things, I've been to Bouncy castle parties here and I have been to an 18th here once. The library isn't always open though so look up the times before you go. The cafe is situated above the hall so any parents can look down and watch their children in various sports. Prices are moderate, but you can only start to book cours 24 hours before unless you're a member at the leisure centre. By joining you get to go to a number of places around Middlesbrough. The staff are all really polite and I only have one small annoyance about this place that because of the balcony you're often subject to people leaning over and wolfwhistling as you play badminton or sqaush.

We ran to get the bus and paid to go into the swimming baths area. When we got in the pool, we were met with rude life guards and misinformation. They told us the only thing we could do was do laps. Me and my friends listened and done the laps around the pool like we were told to. We didn't stay for the whole hour we paid for because we felt like we had been lied to about what we could do in the pool by the other members of staff who work for tees active. We were getting changed and once we left we were met with a "manager" who told us to leave even though we already were. This was a disgrace as we were lied to by the other tees active staff and misjudged by the lifeguards with our intentions on what we were doing. There were apparently many complaints about us but what else were we supposed to do when we were promised with a pool that we could easily swim in with no worries. They said no refunds and no apologies. 0 stars if I could give it. Terrible staff. Do NOT come here if you are looking to have a fun time with friends or anyone with people aged 14-17.

It's open all year round as it has an indoor heated pool which is pretty lovely - almost like a giant bath. It's also a full sized 25m number which means that those serious about using swimming to get fit have plenty to go at. Ilkley Pool's finest hours come in the height of summer, however, when the outdoor pool, the "lido" is open for business. It's perfect for those very rare days in England when you actually need to cool off, and can be a good day out with mates as there's always plenty of young people there having fun - there's also plenty of opportunity to sunbathe if the weather really is that good. There's tennis courts and a putting green available too but it's really all about the lido - at under £4, it's the perfect summer bargain day out.
