My personal favourite has to be their soup of the day which you can have with garlic bread or a sandwich, perfect for warming up on a winters day! The downstairs can accoomodate a push chair or 2 easilt and you can sit watching the world go by in the window seats, and there is a lot more room upstairs. The staff are very helpful and bring everything over to you after you order at the till, s you can just sit and relax.especially helpful when you have a child in tow that you ahve to keep an eye on! The staff are very friendly too, and I have never heard anyone say a bad word about the place since it opened. If in St Austell town centre this has to be one of the best places to lunch.

So we got to our cottage in the middle of the woods in St Austell, driving there did remind me of Bram Stokers Dracula a little bit. The road seemed more appropriate for horse carriages rather than cars. The cottage was gorgeous though. Escapism value to the max. So off we strode into the merlin esque village looking for a decent eatery. Didn't have to venture far to find this little gem. Looking rather modest from the outside, the interior was fairly spacious and decor was fantastic. There was even a decent sized seating area outside which on this occasion was mute due to the atrocious weather. The service was fantastic as you'd expect from a village restaurant. The owner was very pleasant and kindly informed us he once visited when Oldham when we told him we were from up north. The food was fantastic and the recommendations made were immaculate. This after all after a shaky start when I was disgusted by the pathetic excuse for popadoms they served. If you ever find yourself in this sleepy village in Cornwall be sure to visit this place. What's more if you are close enough they;ll even deliver the food to you. I was impressed enough with the food to have it delivered the next night to the cottage. Result!!!!!

It is now light and airy but still has partitions between the tables so you do have a sense of intimacy. The Taj does not serve alcohol but you can bring your own bottle of wine. They are very child friendly and provide high chairs, and they are also very very friendly with smiley happy waiting staff who are even patient with my children who change their minds several times before they let them escape! There is also a large car park for ease of parking, small space out the front with chauirs for summer al fresco dining. And for kids they have a slide, monkey bars, zip wire and other bits and pieces of kids play equiptment. For adults they also do a great new Years Eve evening, with this year it being a local comedian who also sings and does karaoke. Well worth a visit especially for the food!!

This dish in the past, has been my favourite but the chicken was definitely on the dodgy side - it had that horrible taste you never forget! He gave us time when we wanted it to decide what we wanted to eat but was never far away when we needed anything. The food was hot and very good. I asked for a variation f what was on offer but my needs/want was accomodated without a fuss. When we had all finished eating and our table was cleared the lights dimmed and Cliff Richard's Congratulations was played. Whiloe this was going on a birthday cake with candals was brought to our table by our waiter and at the end of Congratulations all the diners in the restaurant clapped. I found this quite embarrasing but it certainly made me feel special and my birthday one I will never forget. To celebrate a birthday, anniversary or to pop the question I would recommend Frankie & Benny's for good food, good service and a great atmosphere. The only thing I didn't like was the Italian lesson in the toilets. Music would've been better. That is why I have only awarded four stars.
