Service is polite and attentive. Probably the main difference with other establishments in the area was that the food was more interesting and cooked to a higher standard. This is an amazing little pub. The bar area is cluttered with nick-nacks including ships in (and…read moreout of) bottles, and an eclectic array of ornaments of a largely eccentric nature! There is even a knitting corner. The snug is covered in graffiti and in another area there is a collection of toys. Dogs and children are welcome. The food is good my ham sandwich was top notch and Judi's prawn sandwich was reported as 'excellent'. There is a separate evening menu that has a limited choice, which suggests that the quality is likely to be good. Don't expect haute cuisine but do expect good pub food, entertaining and welcoming locals, friendly bar staff and a fascinating mooch around the various bits of 'stuff' around the pub. DON'T expect to pay by card! Take cash!

Didn't eat bread as am not a bread person but shell fish....yum. The menu didn't have dairy-free desserts so they made me dairy-free pavlova which was so absolutely perfect - I'm taking off my imaginary hat. The only thing she could eat here was chips. I had the mixed fish linguini, my partner had some chips and my daughter had the children's tomato linguini. The Fish was very special; freshly cooked prawns and lovely mussels. The linguini in both dishes was cooked to perfection. Service was quick and polite. The chips were amazing which was brilliant for my partner as all holiday she has seen everyone around her eat lovely food while all she could eat was the most basic things. The restaurant still has an old charm to it, it hasn't been polished into a chic modern restaurant, and I love it more for this.

In addition to the regular menu they had a number of seafood specials. I had the scallops in a cream ginger sauce that was wonderful. For dessert we had a special, vitro starter and ice cream, all of which were quite good. Service was very good. The place is small so good idea to have a reservation. It is well worth visiting with a lot of great choices in addition to the specials. We were glad we went. The one thing to be aware of is that they only take cash or check and no cards.
