Service is a little hit and miss, they really need to work on their organisation with this and ensure they are approaching tables in the order they arrived, but staff are nice. Would I recommend it: Yes, I was surprised given the variety of food available how well cooked and well presented it was. I also thought it was very affordable for the portion sizes given. I'd recommend booking if you plan to go in the evenings, particularly at weekends.

We ordered a thai milk tea, chef's pork special (crispy pork with vegetables) and a beef massaman curry. The crispy pork was definitely our favourite along with the thai milk tea. This place has an entertainment voucher so next time I visit, I will be bringing that but overall caring and attentive service, staff seemed to know the regulars and has a relaxing atmosphere.

I recommend the calamari salad ($9.90) as an entrée, followed by either the Muu Yang ($14.90) or the sweet chilli jam stir-fry with chicken ($12.90). Narai offers take away, but it's always nice to dine there. I love being in the restaurant surrounded by purple and silver decorations, and the polite and hospitable staff. While Narai may not be able to keep up with the fusion fine dining Thai venues in Melbourne, it holds its ground well amongst hundreds of local Thai restaurants where the customers go just for a serve of pad Thai.

Oh - and don't steal any grapes or food on a plate near the register. I *might* not have seen the statue the first time I was there and so thought the grapes were a cute touch (like mints at the counter) and *might* have popped one in my mouth. The server very politely informed me what I was doing, and then presented me with a plate of grapes from the kitchen of my own, which was super lovely of them considering I had just committed massive sacrilege to their culture and religion by stealing food from the gods. The mains are fabulous: the Pad Thai is to die for, and the curries and stir-fries are always delicious and authentic, and I have yet to be disappointed with the size of the servings. However sloppy service (it was hard to manage to catch anyone's attention), boring entrees (tasteless spring rolls and bland crispy tofu), and an unimaginative dining atmosphere and setting land it firmly in the realm of the 'local' Thai restaurant. Takeaway serving aren't nearly as generous as eating in so you may want to order a few mains, or just bite the bullet and get a table if you want to try it. For quality Thai cuisine, you are better off heading to other suburbs or into the city. Judging by the mains, the Nakorn Siam has the potential to produce some excellent dishes but they can't seem to get the whole act together.

For my main, I had the chicken fried rice and though it was really nothing to look at (presentation left much to be desired) the food was very good. The kitchen honoured our requests for changes to the dishes, and the mains also came out in reasonable timing. From a pricing point of view, I think it was very reasonable. Mains were in the mid teens, and on a par with other small Thai restaurants. Overall ... would I come back again? If I was in the area, I'd definitely come back again. There wasn't anything really bad about it here at all. Considering it's almost a 30 minute drive from home to it, I'd be more inclined to try elsewhere first. But if you find yourself in Sandringham and want a good Thai meal, give this a try for sure.
