I hate working out. I mean, I really hate working out. I hate being out-of-breath and would never…read moreadd "sweating through my clothes" to my list of ... well, I'd add it to my list of things that are uncomfortable, and bordering on embarrassing. I also don't really like team things. And I don't have much good to say about over-enthusiastic people and their over-the-top motivational slogans, trying to fool everyone into "getting excited" about something crappy. Like working out. That being said, I love Kaia F.I.T. Love it. I was super unsure at first, but after even just the orientation, I knew it was going to be awesome. And horrible, because I really do still hate working out, and you do a lot of that, there. But I knew it was different than any other place I'd been to, so I was hopeful. I was worried about being the oldest girl in there (41). I was worried about being the person in the worst shape. About being the only one not able to complete the exercises. I was worried about passing out or throwing up or peeing my pants (six kids). But it turns out, it doesn't matter if I'm the oldest, or if I'm in the worst shape of the bunch. It doesn't matter if I am the Rock Star of Kaia, or a sweaty, vomit-covered pile of flesh laying in her own urine (too far?) - the girls there are awesome. And the part about not liking being a part of a team? I take that back. Just this one time. The other girls are so encouraging. And never make me feel like an idiot. Everyone cheers each other on, and that really does get you through that last little bit, when you think you can't hold that plank for even one more second. At orientation, Megan (I'll get to her in a bit!) said, "Don't worry if you're sweating or if your shirt rides up and your belly is hanging out. Nobody here is even going to notice, because we're all just focused on doing our best." Or something like that. I don't know, but the part about not worrying if your belly hangs out? That part I remembered, because let's be real: It's a legitimate concern. But to know that you can show up with no make-up, with wild hair and in a dumb t-shirt AND you don't have to worry about your shirt riding up during Standing Mountain Climbers? Prime. The workout is amazing, as well. I've lost 16 pounds (down to 140) and can DO things. I can do things I couldn't do when I started. I am getting stronger and more agile. I have energy. I feel really proud of myself, and I don't say that often. Or, really, ever. Each day is different. It's broken down into small chunks, so it always seems manageable. It's brutal, I'm not going to lie. I've never sweat this much in my life. Every session leaves me spent, but feeling - and I'm really going to say this - revitalized. This isn't a "Show up sometimes and eventually, maybe you'll see a little results" routine. This is a, "Commit to showing up, workout until you think you may actually die (maybe that's just me) and get amazing results" routine. Oh, and girls only. I love that. Fridays are Yoga, Wednesday is a running class (never gone, too scared), Saturday is a walk/run that you can bring friends and family along to. The other days are a boot camp style workout that will kick your (getting-to-be nicely toned) butt. Megan Powers is the owner and coach and everyone loves her. You can't not love her. Remember my earlier reference about the awful over-the-top, over enthusiastic, let's make everyone feel uncomfortable with my sugar-coated, sing-song voice? That's not Megan. Megan is funny and easygoing. Easygoing, but super motivating. She knows how to get the best from everyone, without making anyone feel like a loser. She puts everyone at ease right away. Megan has encouraged me to re-examine what I believed to be my limitations. It takes a pretty unique person and place for me to be comfortable enough to even attempt something that could very easily end up being incredibly humiliating. But I felt comfortable enough to try hard things and it turns out I could do them, after all. She's really knowledgeable about fitness and nutrition. My husband is a fitness and nutrition superstar, and she tells me the same things he tells me, so I trust her. Plus, you can't argue with results. I'm getting smaller AND stronger. And while I can't say that I bounce out of bed each morning or that I arrive to class thrilled to be moments away from a hard, hard workout, I can tell you that I really do love (and hate) each day there. At the end, I always love it. In the middle, it's a love/hate thing. But if it was easy, this would all be a waste of time. The hour is going to pass one way or another - better to have it pass with a workout that will really, really count. Longest review I've ever written, but I couldn't leave any of it out!

I mean, I hate the gym, I really do. Years of playing soccer, track, swimming, has wired me to be outside when being active not indoors on a treadmill watching someone else play sports. At this point in my life I really needed a change and was having a hard time sleeping through the night when I happened upon a Living Social deal at 2 a.m. for Kaia and I decided then and there to give it a whirl. Wow! I was so intimidated, Kaia F.I.T. is based on muscle confusion, so every day it's different and 3 months later, it is still challenging and fun. I don't respond well to drill sergeant type tactics, and Meghan is far from it she's absolutely AWESOME! She's encouraging without being overbearing and inspiring without being pompous. I have lost 5 inches overall and continue to stay with Kaia in an effort to be strong, not necessarily skinny. Since I work in the healthcare field and am working on becoming a clinical health educator, it is imperative for me to set a good example for my patients. Kaia is helping me to change lives; Meghan is helping me to change lives. Kaia also incorporates nutrition into their boot camp and has three levels of nutrition to assist any to incorporate healthier food habits into their lives. I simply can't say enough good things about Kaia F.I.T. and what it has done for me. Come try it out you won't be sorry. Oh, and that insomnia thing? I'm sleeping through the night, every night, blissful, sweet sleep. Thank you Kaia F.I.T and Meghan for making me stronger every day!

No one has been able to whip me into shape like LP has and I've kept the weight off. There is no one else! There's a method to his madness and his workouts are methodically calculated for dialed in results. He shows up every day for us. No one has pushed me as hard as he has. And this is all for the greater good. If I go MIA, he checks in with me. He truly holds me accountable as any coach should. He's in a tier all on his own though. A tier of shear excellence. His results are amazing and are life changing. Everyone in his studio is an athlete. Thank you so much coach.

Sure, I had a gym membership, actually many memberships and personal trainers but the inevitable would happen and I would make excuses for not going. No more!!! I've been going 5-6 days a week for eight months and have NEVER had the same workout twice! No joke. Everyone is welcoming, supportive and all around nice. I look forward to going everyday. It's not a regular gym where you show up whenever you want. You sign up online and show up ready for a great workout. It's challenging but 100% doable if your committed. After a few months I convinced my wife to try it out. She didn't think she would be up to it. Now, she too goes almost everyday. The only thing we wish to be different is that we would have stopped in years ago! I'm not in my 20's anymore but physically feel that great everyday! LP- you are truly the best, thank you!!

I've been with TTC for nearly 2 years, I'm still hooked and am there a lot! I have found my people…read moreand my tribe. The coaches are great, they help you stay motivated and give you encouragement the entire time. I've lost nearly 70 pounds, and have kept it off. TTC is not a gym, keep that in mind when reading this. Gyms are for people who really know what they are doing with their health and can keep self motivated. Gyms also hire staff that only focus on appearance and developing "fun" exercises. I've done the gym thing....never worked for me, was never motivated, never felt fully supported. So TTC is more of a health program. They include overall motivation, accountability, and meal plans. But you, yes you, have meet them half way. How? Showing up 3 times a week, staying connected(maybe social media, maybe texts with your coaches), and following meal plans. TTC coaches know how to have you do exercises that will keep you from injuring yourself, or to trigger a current injury. Don't get me wrong, some of the exercises are fun....but some are not. And you need to do all of them for results. TTC has changed my life. I have energy, I feel great, I've made new friends, and, best of all, I've made some big health changes for an overall healthier lifestyle. It's not easy, but TTC has given me so many tools to help me continue my journey.

I saw the video on Fb saying that they have "spots left for the 6-week challenge and its free" My…read morefirst thought was nothing is really free in this life but I was looking to get fit and being a mom of two the 6 week timeline was tempting. I wanted to see if I could joggle mom time and gym time. So I gave it a shot. The first meeting you have is in a group in which they go over the meal plan, how the program is different because they provide accountability and show you tons of pics of people that achieved great results. They drill in how is 6 weeks and you will love the results and join the gym for life. They are so confident in their product that they are giving it away "free" The second meeting which is also in a group. They clarify that you need to do 2 payments of $98 dollars that goes toward your membership. (I thought aha! I knew they had to make money somehow; this is it). They also sell 3 different types of supplements to better achieve your goals. They give you a contract and its says all of the above and they tell you that if you don't complete the challenge you have to pay the real value of it since you make them waste their time (I believe around $600 or more) What they don't tell you is that membership fee of$98 dollars means that you are locked in a contract and they will take that money every two weeks for 12 months! I didn't read the tiny black print nor understood that little fact. I started the program, Got my before photo and started going 3 times per week (that is how the program is designed) I followed the meal plan, I was one week out due to my son getting pneumonia. My coach didn't reach out to me to figure out why I wasn't going, I bet they didn't notice. I kept going to finish my 6 week challenge. At the end I lost 10 pounds and gain some muscle. I didn't get a after picture, again the accountability part of the program was not there for me. I checked my account and notice the Gym charged me once more. I thought it was a mistake and I sent and email. Customer service reached out by text a week later. It said, Congratulations you made it to the Passport program here is your meal plan. What!? I called and nothing, resend the email and finally got a call back. Their policy is no refunds. Customer service basically said, you are in a 12 month contract if you want to end the contract you have to pay $500. I was very disappointed, I only read the reviews they had on fb not the ones on Yelp (like I usually do) so it's on me. But the misleading, scammy part aside; I liked the trainers they have in Santa Rosa I also liked the people who were trying to get fit with me. If you can pay $98 every two weeks for a gym in which you workout in groups for 30 mins and follow a meal plan, this is the gym for you. That's what they provide. ( There aren't any amenities in the Gym, no showers, no water fountain, small parking lot) I have two kiddos, I can't afford this. I don't like businesses that trick their customers, that is why I give one star. If they were upfront about it it would be a different story.

Seriously, this place is awesome. This is where you need to go if you want to get fit…read more My main hobby has always been adult ballet classes. About a year ago I started training at a local gym to get stronger for dance. I struggled with figuring out what to do at the gym. I sort of just bounced between machines with no focus. It wasn't efficient and I was struggling to see results. The only times I ever got a great workout in, is when I worked with a trainer. Working with a trainer is great, but can be very pricey. Long story short, I've heard of CrossFit many times and was always intrigued. I knew that CrossFit provided a "workout of the day". This is what I wanted. I was tired of guessing what I should do at the gym. I love that I can show up, do the scheduled workout, feel great, and go home. CrossFit may seem expensive, but it is a great value. You always have a coach there to help you with your form, and the workouts are planned. It's basically the same as working with a trainer, but you're in a class environment, which is very motivating. So I decided to go and try a class at Sonoma Strength Academy. I was pretty nervous, it seemed very intimidating. The owner Beejan (who is extremely helpful) reached out to me and encouraged me to try a class. He found out I was a nurse and informed me that they offer a great discount for nurses! After just one class, it was obvious that this place is extremely welcoming to new people. It was also clear that all fitness levels are welcome. Every workout can be scaled. So literally anyone can do the daily workouts. The coaches will show you the modifications that you can do. The head coach Chuck encouraged me to take "on-ramp" classes with him (which I recommend doing). Taking these classes helped me learn the basic foundational movements of CrossFit. I was able to feel more confident when I joined regular classes. Chuck is a fantastic coach who has helped me tremendously since I've started (and he has great taste in music). You can tell he cares about the members and their progress. The other coach I've worked with since starting is Jessica, she's so amazingly helpful. She's very encouraging to new people (such as myself) and has also given me great tips about recovery at home. You can tell she's passionate about being a coach. The location is a great and the gym is huge. Right now during the pandemic, the workouts are being performed outside. Which has been going smoothly (I actually really love exercising outside). I heard that they have plans to move their already large gym, into an even larger building right next door. Also- there is plenty of parking here, which is very convenient. The gym has new owners, and it appears that they are putting their heart and soul into making improvements to this establishment. I have not been a member for long, but I can tell this CrossFit gym is going places. Every class I attend I leave I feeling stronger. The people who attend this gym are friendly and welcoming. There is a real sense of camaraderie and community. I'm glad I found this place! I plan on sticking around for many years to come.

I found my new box!…read more I have been doing CrossFit for about 2 years. I left my other box due to disagreements on the training and programming. I took 6 months off while doing the traditional gym route. After missing the rush and encouragement I got from CrossFit, I decided to find another family that fit my goals and style. I tried a couple of others before I found Sonoma Strength Academy. They are adequately equipped and the size is large enough to allow the classes to have enough room to not be on top of each other. It is relatively clean and the training is great. I love the evening class times and the price was the least expensive in Santa Rosa for 3 times a week. Chuck does a great job making you feel welcome and coaching you through the workouts. He will correct your form and give you tips to be more efficient. The workouts include strength, cardio, and agility and he throws in mobility work also. It is fun and challenging every time I go. Unless something changes, I have found my long term, workout family.
