I don't know where to even begin other than Nelson Produce Farm is truly a Nebraska spring staple and that if you have the opportunity to attend the Tulip Festival, you need to take it. The admission price is worth it for how many attractions there are here, and there is truly something for every age! Upon entering the farm, you are greeted with tons of cute decorations, garland, and photo ops, which are super fun and make the experience all-encompassing. I also thought they did a great job with signage since I was on the hunt for the tulips! There were two main sections for tulips: U-Pick, and for viewing only. Along my way to the decorative tulip fields, I was greeted by the cutest llamas and cows, and there were tons of adorable farm themed toys and set-ups, which would make this a great place to bring your family. The tulip fields alone were worth this visit. They were absolutely magnificent and there was such a gorgeous variety. Even with difficult weather, they still looked pristine and it didn't even feel like I was in Nebraska anymore! I used to live along the border of Germany/the Netherlands (where tulips are famed to grow) and I have seen many tulip attractions throughout my life, and Nelsons was still one of the best and most enjoyable experiences. I also chose to do U-Pick, which I regretted only because of the freezing weather, high winds, and my choice to wear a sundress, none of which is Nelsons fault. If the weather had been better this would be such a fun experience, and I still enjoyed browsing for the prettiest flowers. After picking a small bouquet, I made my way to the Farm Market, which was a huge shop full of everything from local products, foods, and goods, to Tulip Festival merch and fun mementos. There was also a small cafe where I got an iced coffee and took a moment to relax and enjoy the moment. I also ended up buying a small Schleich chicken figurine as a souvenir, and everyone who worked at Nelsons was incredibly sweet and friendly. I wanted to update my original review after the business reached out and made things right. While my initial experience at the tulip festival was disappointing due to confusion about the advertised military discount and an interaction that didn't feel great at the time, I really appreciate how they handled it afterward. They took the time to apologize, sent a gift card, and have since updated their website to clearly reflect the discount details. That kind of follow-through truly shows they care about their customers and are willing to improve, which I respect. The location is beautiful and the flowers are absolutely worth seeing. This was our first time visiting Nelson Produce Farm and we had such a great time as a family! We went during the Tulip Festival and were so happy to have something like this in the area. I used to live in the Seattle area, which is known for its amazing tulip festivals, so when we first moved here and there wasn't anything similar, I definitely missed it. I was really excited to see this as an option in the Omaha area and it did not disappoint! We're even considering getting a summer pass so we can visit more often with our toddler. This was my first visit to Nelson Produce Farm, and we came for the U-Pick, but it also happened to be the Sweet Corn Festival which was a fun surprise! The farm is adorable and much bigger than I expected. I thought admission was a little steep at first, but there were tons of free activities including animals to see, yard games, photo spots, and an all-you-can-eat sweet corn station that had so many toppings! We started the day with delicious coffee from their barn, tried some of the best sweet corn I've had, and split a strawberry slushie which is a total must if you go. For the U-Pick, we chose vegetables and filled up a whole flat for $15, which ended up being a great deal for a week's worth of fresh produce and such a fun way to spend time together. We finished the day by stocking up on more produce from their market, where prices were pretty reasonable. Having been out here for an Elite event, I took the opportunity to return with my family in tow before they closed for the winter. A Super place to spend a little time outside, exploring the pumpkin patch, enjoying some of the play area set up for children, or experiencing a taste of their excellent food on site or to go. A nice shop next to the entrance makes for a great place to pick up their product or some local businesses that they also support. Downright wholesome family farm. Plenty of U-Pick options for fruit and vegetables (the strawberries this weekend were outstanding) and there was plenty tuning free parking. There is a season pass however daily admission is $12 for an adult. Farm fresh produce and plenty of complimentary family friendly activities including a tractor ride, hay bail slides, farm animal (goat, pony, mules) husbandry / feeding area and mockups of chicken coops, dairy stations and other attractions. I'm not sure I would have discovered this farm on my own if I hadn't attended the Yelp even here last year. It is such a gem of a place with a mission I completely support. I love Pam's vision of bridging the gap between farmers and urban people. The concept and execution was incredible to see first hand when I attended the Yelp event and then when I signed my boyfriend and I up for their butterfly release. We showed up for the event a little early to make it in time and had a chance to walk around and check out what else they offer. I had never done a butterfly release and since we were both off on the last Sunday they held it I figured we could try something new. It was a wonderful experience, one that I would definitely do again. We each got our own butterfly and after saying a prayer we released them. It took them a little bit to get going but it was beautiful. The release was also during the tail end of their sunflower festival so we got to walk around and see the different sunflowers and even got to choose our own. I love that you get a sunflower with every admission and you can purchase more for you to pick on your own if you'd like. Upon leaving we stopped in marketplace to pick up some produce, salsa, donuts, and more treats. We LOVED the donuts! The salsa was yummy too. I know I definitely want to attend one of their farm to table events this year and check out what else they have to offer in the spring. I came back solely for the Sunflower Festival and it was incredible. I had been a few years ago, but I must have some when they had past their prime. It was 100% worth the $20 admission price per person (4x). These sunflower fields are INSANELY huge, it's not just a patch, it might as well be a sunflower maze. There are dozens of vignettes and photo opps for the whole family. There is one more weekend of the festival, which is nice that it spans 3 weekends in the summer making it easy to schedule into busy summer plans. Your ticket also gets you (1) sunflower bloom to take an then they have priceing packages for more. My kids only lasted about 45 mins in the field and we spent an addition 2.5 hours strolling through the kids activities. As I mentioned in my previous reviews there is a lot for kids to do, but WOW, they recently remodeled a whole lot and it's so similar, but so much better and expansive. There was so much to do for my 4 &7 yo. petting zoo, trains, orange jump pad, a few different slide areas, lots of food and concessions. This is the closest to a pumpkin patch as you can get year round. We had a blast. read more

My Granddaughter and Great Granddaughter plus myself, had a wonderful time. So much to do. From climbing haystacks 10 stories high and sliding back down. Is ingenious. Flags flying on top as away to show the accomplishment! So fun. Pig ride in animal Barn, battle ride and so much more. Only thing I was disappointed with was the Hamburgers . Pricey , thin and mushy. They advertised their watermelon festival that included: a free watermelon buffet, watermelon bus rides, eating and seed spitting contests, photo contests, and our famous watermelon slushies. Tickets online were $15 per person (ages 4 and up). Tickets in-person were $20 per person. My first impression was good. There's a variety of activities for the kids and a map right when you walk in. However, I wish there was a little more signage throughout to help you find where you want to go. Especially with the watermelon festival that included the extra activities. I was a little disappointed in the price for the slushies ($10.99 included small take home cup). The animal barn was cute but I think with the heat some animals were too hot in there 99°). We did like that the kids had lots of places to play. And there's so many photo opps. We might try again in the fall. read more

Looking for something on the simpler side? This is a great place for you. Much smaller than...other...fall farms, but still a hit with the kids and family. We enjoyed the sunflower field, the hay bails, train, and petting zoo. It is clean, well run, and decently affordable ($12 a ticket). I love going to Nelson's produce farm. My grandkids love going there and the staff is so friendly. At every turn someone is saying hi or asking about our day . One gentleman went above and beyond and helped my granddaughter get through a temper tantrum because she didn't want to leave the farm. I was invited to check out Nelson's farm for a Yelp event, and it was even more amazing than I initially expected! The food they had all made for us (all scratch made there) was incredible and fresh. They even had pink pineapple to try and buy! I was definitely happy Conscious Comforts was there so I could enjoy a gluten free and vegan poptart. I had no idea they started there at the farm! We then got to explore the grounds a bit, and there is a lot to appreciate. There's activities for kids to do that immerses them into the environment, lots of fresh produce/goods/meat to buy and take home, and the ability to see exactly where your food is coming from. I definitely recommend visiting the farm, whether to grab some local food or to spend a day with the kids doing a fun activity. I definitely will be back! read more

Simple | Interactive | Apple Salsa Simple - The drive out to Nelson farms was pretty easy and straightforward. Parking there was easy. There is a laid-out grid and paths for cars to follow. You enter on the right side of the road and exit on the left. It is about a 2 minute (200 meters) walk to the entrance from the parking lots. Interactive - The grounds have a variety of animals, from goats to baby ponies to horses to cows. You can purchase feed when you get your ticket and feed all of the animals. It is a great way to introduce young people to non-traditional pets. Additionally, the grounds have a three-story hay-castle with slides that are fun for people to explore. Apple Salsa - We purchased the apple salsa. While it was a bit pricey, it was WELL WORTH IT. it is a fantastic blend of savory taste and spice. We would gladly get it again. Pro Tip: Go within the first 1-2 hours of the day. We showed up right when they opened, and had the place to ourselves with 4 other young couples for about 1 hour. I attended a Yelp elite event here at Nelson's farm! I think it has been my favorite Yelp event. I've bought their produce from the stands in the past, but had no idea they do so much at the farm. They offer fresh farm to table dinners throughout the spring and summer, have some fun stuff for kids, tons of animals, sunflower festival, corn festival, firework shows, worship nights, etc. I could go on and on. The farm is well kept and the owner, Pam Nelson, was so sweet. We enjoyed freshly made donuts, blueberry muffins, and pop tarts. As well as honey lavender cold brew, fresh lemonade and strawberry slushees. We also got to go on a hayrack ride and they gave us a tour of the farm. When the event ended I stayed behind to pet the cute farm dog and did a little shopping. I bought some peaches that were out of this world good. So juicy and plump! Also bought strawberry butter and peach butter. Everything tasted so good! I will definitely be attending future events here. Their farm to table dinners sell out in 45 minutes, but she recommended getting on the waitlist for tickets. I hope to experience one of those this year! read more

This farm is DELIGHTFUL! Our first time was with our 2-year-old on the 4th of July and it did not disappoint. We also have gone with a group of kids ranging from 2 to 6 and they all had a blast, as did the adults! Our first time the sunflowers were there, but none this year. Still, it's a great time and worth the drive. Attractions include a huge tire pile to play, a train with individual cars for the kids pulled around the farm (slow enough for parents to keep up by walking alongside), an area for picking your own berries, and a small market with fresh produce and a small cafe-type area with food and drinks. There is also the option to purchase food to feed the animals, and an indoor barn area to walk around and see the farm animals, from baby chicks to donkeys to cows. Oh, and wagons are available at the gate for use during your visit! Make sure to grab a strawberry lemonade slushy (I don't remember what it's named on the menu, but it's so good) and grab some strawberries to take home! These were the biggest, juiciest strawberries we've ever had! The menu is full of great treats so make sure to stop by. We have only visited in July; would love to visit when the weather is a little cooler and it isn't super hot by mid morning. But so worth it for even a couple hours! Staff is so friendly and customer service is excellent. The driver pulling the kids around in the train is always very attentive to the safety of the group and genuinely happy to be there. We also have had staff just notice us and chat with us about our family. The whole experience is great family fun. read more

This is our second year going to the Sunflower Festival! It was just my mom and I so I'm glad we got our tickets for just $10 online. Without kids to enjoy 60 percent, if not more, of the event's activities the $20 per ticket was too steep. We got to pet a horse, goats, sheep, kittens, had a cow fling snot at us, and walked through sunflowers with numerous photo ops available. All the staff we ran into were friendly, happy and helpful. You can even pick sunflowers and strawberries for an extra fee! Next year I may splurge and eat breakfast amongst the sunflowers! read more

Took an impromptu trip here with my family because we had nothing else planned and it was a beautiful day. It was the type of weather I'd normally never spend time outside in, but when I got to relax for a while I really enjoyed myself. It's quaint, it's picturesque, and it really felt good to be out there. I do wish they'd have a map online or at least a list of attractions, because it was quite unclear what was where and for how much. And I do wish they'd put out another shaded bench or two near the various children's activities. But all in all I found it much more accessible and uncomplicated than your average agritourism stop. I don't mention this often in my reviews, but I have a mobility disability that makes enjoying outdoor activities pretty rare, and I think I was more comfortable here than any other u-pick farm. read more

Today me and my family went to Nelson farms for the sunflower festival and it was very disappointing. I went two years ago and my experience then was great. First of all a 20 dollar admission fee per person was high and there wasn't even a lower rate for kids. Second on the website it says they are open until 7 and when we got there at 4, we were informed that it was closing at 5. Now I understand they had an event that night but it should have been listed on their website or they should have prorated the fee. We had already driven all the way out there so we ended up going in. It was also annoying that the person handling the entry fee was busy chatting with the customer in front of us knowing that it was closing soon. Overall I would not recommend and with all the other flower farms popping up, I would go somewhere else next time. read more
