June 24, 2025 I had gotten a text after a missed call from Nelson Connects, (NC) from previous voicemails to them. I was asked to send over my resume. I did, then I was told by Aimee that she handles the labor dept and Jaime handles the clerical part. I was told to answer my phone when she calls. July 8th I texted Aimee back that Jaime never called. No response until July 10th. Aimee sent a link for onboarding. I finished the onboarding July 11th, no other instruction. I texted again August 12th asking if I am to look for NC jobs or they tell me when there is one? With each step I've asked if I am not a good candidate or had advice to please let me know but no advice was given. The response was that they were slow and would be calling when there is a job. So today is August 24th and I haven't heard anything. read more

They placed me in an office job where I spent part of the day doing data entry on Excel spreadsheets. They paid me on time. They spelled my name correctly. They checked with me to make sure I was comfortable at work. I will work with them again if I ever need to, and I recommend them to any job seeker. read more

SCAM!!!!! Beware. I received an email from one of the recruiters at Nelson Staffing saying they had a position for me. We talked on the phone and everything seemed legit. They had me fill out a bunch of paperwork (w2 form) and requested my ssn. The recruiter explained that i would work for them and they would pay my paycheck. After asking many questions to make sure i understood what was going on i gave her all the info that was needed. 2 weeks later no pay and no work. At the time I was about 18-19 and I was really unsure where I wanted to work or what I wanted to do . She was extremely helpful and really knowledgeable . Horrible experience, I do not recommend their services! Extremely disappointed. As if it wasn't hard enough to look for a job the last thing you need is a recruiter that is not at all on your side. Let's get one thing straight here, you are the candidate, the person who generates the business to the staffing agency and that is how they make their living. In other words, they work for you, you are the boss, or at least, that's the way it should be. If you are not being represented by someone who is an advocate for your needs, you don't need them at all. In fact, in many cases now a days, the same job being offered by the staffing agency is also advertised with other agencies and in most of the more prominent job sites online. Heads up. They are also your competition. It's all about quotas. Know that you will be consider as just a number. A deal that needs closing. Adding insult to injury, my representative (not) took the liberty to make me feel bad about my skills, myself. She made me feel as if I was not up to par, less than adequate, obsolete, old. Why? She was the one who did not return my calls, treated me with neglect and God forbid if she ever had to apologize for anything whatsoever. People in perceived positions of power tend to think of them selves are better than others. The younger and less experience they are the more prevalent this abuse manifests itself. The fact of the matter is that they use you. They get you to try it first. Under the auspices of "let's see if you like it", or worse, "let's see if you are a good fit". When you have your feet wet sort of speak, they change the arrangement on you. Concessions need to be made, deadlines for hiring are extended and there may or may not be a contract for employment at the end of this embarrassing road. Let's be frank however, you don't get to be to be a recruiting manager if you are not a master in manipulation. I have taken the time to call and lodge a formal complain about the neglectful ways I was treated (too many to describe here) but we all know how this is going to fly, don't we? Nothing really changes, there is no accountability and most likely, there is a good degree of connivance within the organization. Mainly and sadly due to the simple fact that there is plenty of fish in the sea. Bottom line is you don't need them. Don't be subjected to their disservice. Specially during such a stressful time. When I was laid off from a previous employer, Nelson helped me find a six day gig that turned into a 4 year new career. Pretty much a dream job with a dream company. If I can rate this with no stars I would. Debra, a senior recruiter emailed me because she saw my resume and thought that my resume fits perfectly with a client that she is working with. She sent me the job description and although most of the skills are what I have done in the past there were some that I have never done because this positon was for a senior position. And I did let her know that I dont qualify for everything that they are looking for and asked her and she said she still would love to have a one on one interview. Now i dont have the best interview skills in the world because I have been in the same company for the past 13 yrs and the last time I had an interview I was in my late teens and I don't even think it was a formal interview. So, when she interviewed me I know she wasn't really impressed but she said she'll forward my resume anyway. Now, here's the reason for the one star. I understand me now qualifying for the job position but just the very unprofessional approach post interview. She viewed me as incompetant and never bothered to let me know whether I was even considered or not. I guess they only call if you qualify. So, I found by emailing her about a week later. Called her again afew weeks later if she happen to have any job opening and she replied with a simple "no". Also, be prepared to fill out tons of paperwork even before you get interviewed. I had never worked with a staffing agency before but figured, why not? They were professional, honest and have a great reputation within all the companies I have worked for (all of them used Nelson). I got the job, love my job, and loved working with Nelson. I highly recommend them. I read all the other negative reviews on here and have to say this for some of them - you cannot "blame" a staffing agency for NOT getting you a job. It's up to you to be professional and interview well. It's not their choice to hire you, it's the employer's. I suggest you research or take classes on how to interview. All of my experiences with Nelson have been great. I used to work for Nelson over the summer break when I was home from college. I was able to do temporary reception work and Debbie kept me very busy. The pay was also great, it was much better than I could have done finding a typical summer job. Currently, I work through Nelson part-time while I'm going to school locally. They are able to work with my schedule and find fitting jobs for me. I've been working with Debbie Beardslee for over three years and she is easy to reach and lovely to work with. Since I've been working with Nelson for so long, I've had contact with many of the other staff members and they are all helpful and friendly. Horrible!!! I don't know what happened to Nelson but my experience with them the last 2 times I "had" to deal with them....well it was very disappointing. Jim in the SR was just rude and nasty to me, period! The others I encountered, after he sent me to another office were not much better! My friend worked there for years and said that they have constant turnover at the branch level and have had a new CEO and EVP level managers every 2 years. She said the company has been in business over 30 years and has absolutely no training programs! She said that they hire people that are dog walkers, front desk people at spas and then have them recruiting accountants after 2 days (maybe they should hire business people?) In my particular case I was interviewing to be a internal manager and was sent to multiple offices and led to believe that an offer was coming ...then NOTHING. No call, no return email. I spent quite a bit of time, took off for work, paid downtown parking fees and to not even let me know that I did not get the job is just plain RUDE! SHAME ON YOU NELSON STAFFING -YOU SHOULD KNOW BETTER!!! After multiple tries I gave up. Apparently, Gary Nelson (the founder) left the business to his "less than competent" sons who apparently are not involved in the business at all and it shows - Whoever is running the show over there the should get their act together. I highly recommend Nelson if you want a great staffing agency! I have never been shown the level of attention I received here from any other staffing agency. Elke is such a great human and she has a wonderful bubbly personality. She found me so many great job opportunities that all had good wages. I had the luxury of choosing my best fit, and I am so excited. She will fight hard for you to get the best wage possible and she has great energy. I've worked with many different agencies and the majority of the time I just felt like an afterthought or if I did hear from the other agencies it was for lackluster positions. That is not the case here! They are very responsive to your emails and calls and walk you through each step of the process and set you up for success! I applied for a position through indeed.com. About 2 1/2 hours later I received a voice message from Dorothy Jensen. I immediately returned her call and left a message telling her what time and day I would be available. I sat around for four hours waiting to hear from her. Thanks Dorothy. It's not like I had anything to do today...oh except finish a huge project for a very patience client. Ironically I applied for a position in the Customer Service field. I put my customer on hold for four hours which is unacceptable considering Dorothy never called. Had she called, I could have justified the 4 hours. After providing a resume and two pieces of identification I was told that with my experience would interviewing within a week. I have not heard from recruiter Elke Konig anyone else from Nelson staffing. I'm now suspicious as to what they are doing with my personnel identification. Nelson places ads for jobs on multiple recruiting websites for jobs at don't seem to be real. I've called the recruiting office 3-4 times only to the receptionist put me to office mail. Going to me checking with the California Attorney General office for complaints and abuses. Be careful about giving them your personal information. read more

They lead you on, making you believe you can get a job when they have NO INTEREST in finding you anything. Oh yeah they have lots of jobs. But NOTHING for anyone who has been unemployed over six months. And you and I both know that is a LOT of us folks out there. Despite having tons of experience and interviewing well I never received a SINGLE JOB OFFER from ANYONE in this office. When I tried to talk to someone about it, they were rude, unprofessional and let it slip out that I had 'been unemployed too long'. Then I was told I am a 'overtalker' and my customer service skills were lacking! She felt she had to INSULT me! Unfortunately, it is an employer's market these days and they know they can get away with treating people like this, and so it persists. Very very unprofessional.
