Yes, I know my water heater is leaking, thanks. They ghosted me, so I wasted no time and tried calling Hilltop. Steve came out the very next day to take a look, and there was no charge. On the spot, he got on the horn with Lisa and they priced out a new one, and sent me the estimate and invoice for a deposit. Rich and his team of three came out the following day and completed the job in under an hour. Clean and professional work! What really impressed me, was that after I had written them a cheque and they left, Lisa called me back not long after, apologizing for overcharging me! They corrected the invoice and so I was not overcharged. Honesty says a lot about people who run a business. Great team. Definitely working with them again.

A friend called her plumber contact on Sunday who was away, but was able to get me in contact with Jacob Grout on Sunday morning. Jacob called me back and came out on Sunday to look at the issue. He quickly diagnosed the situation and as there was a way to use water without a further leak, he picked up the replacement part Monday and came right over to fix it. He's friendly, professional, and very reasonably priced. In addition to plumbing emergencies, he does boiler replacements, emergency services, installs everything from old-school boilers to the latest heat pumps, from radiant flooring to steam radiators. I highly recommend his services. As he states on his website, "If you live anywhere between Stowe and Randolph, Montpelier and Warren, we are ready to be your go-to plumber." -I'm sold.

The work was done very well, but we found the price to be high. So we called in, and the owner, Peter, was more than willing to discuss the issue. I really can't comment on the quality of their work as it won't show up until later, but he did spend a lot of time trying to sell me additional services, advising me that it would be $149 additional if I didn't sign up for it right away. He reminded me of a used car salesman. I ran into a friend who was familiar with them and he had a similar opinion. I would not hire them again. PS I could have done the work they did in about an hour if I was 20 years younger. It cost almost $400.

Last year, I'd gotten set up with them, even buying a residential LP tank from them (instead of renting/leasing one of their tanks). When you have some fuel supplier's tank, no other supplier can deliver to you. So I am a strong proponent of owning your own tank! I'd inherited the Dead River tank here when I bought the cottage several years ago. And other than an excellent propane tech of theirs named Robbie, I had several ugly go-arounds with Dead River, largely over their trying to charge me a $99 fee for not using enough propane at my seasonal cottage. Also, Dead River's rather hefty service call charges for a tech to check out the Empire wall-mounted propane heater that was here (since replaced). The larger fuel company suppliers, especially those bought out by monopolizing larger companies, think they can jack up rates and tell customers how they are gonna do business, as opposed to locally-owned companies that are more flexible and fair to their customers. And I can highly recommend Fitch Fuel headquartered in Lancaster NH for their sensible policies and excellent service.

The price was very reasonable, especially since they had to come back due to other factors (once the tile wasn't ready when we thought it would be, then there was a toilet I had ordered that arrived broken). What really sold me was that Pat worked to rearrange his schedule to have my guest bathroom functional before we had company arriving. The guy who did the work was polite and professional. I've often had difficulties even getting a response. Well, I can confidently say that relief has come in the form of D'Ambruoso Plumbing! I originally got in touch with them last year to do some work and was very, very pleasantly surprised. This family crew is professional, prompt, punctual, courteous, polite, informative, and any other superlative you can think of. Not to mention the price seemed almost too low, that's never a bad thing, especially in today's economy! Vincent from D'Ambruoso came out last year and again recently and as usual did fantastic work. He explained everything in simple terms for me and unlike some others we've worked with, I didn't feel talked down to. I was very pleased with their work and when we needed them to come back to the house, I didn't hesitate to reach out again. He was able to come back out in a week and fix a leak in the basement by changing some pipes out. Vincent also took a look at some other issues we had and offered recommendations on how to fix them. Again, the price was low and the work was excellent! Couldn't be more satisfied. There's simply no competition, D'Ambruoso is the ONLY team I'll ever use. Honest, dependable, timely, and affordable, high quality work, they're the total package. Another A+ job! Thank you again to the best crew around!

I have already recommended them to several friends, and will use them for any future plumbing/heating needs.
