I spotted this place on my way to Acocks Green and as there was a chocolate emergency going on (critical...) I just had to dive in and purchase some. When I went in the guy behind the counter was speaking in what I presume was Urdu or Punjabi on his hands free kit, which initially confused me a bit as I couldn't see his phone. He then deftly served me whilst still talking on the phone, slipping in and out of his Urdu conversation with the occasional '59p please', 'Thanks love' etc. I am very envious of anyone who can talk more than 1 language, particularly flitting between to mid conversation with total ease.
Anyway, language skills aside, this was a nice, well-stocked little newsagents, which is also an off-licence, and almost one half of the shop appeared to be booze. They also appear to have a fine selection of mops and ice cream. Perhaps so that you can mop up your ice cream having spilt in on the floor due to too much alcohol consumption?...
Other than that, this is a clean, standard useful newsagents. read more
