I found this place easily on Yelp as one of the more prominent restaurants in Tampere. I arrived…read moreto line going out the door and waited for about 30 minutes to be seated. Once we were seated we were greeted soon after and were able to place orders in a timely manner. I was impressed that the menu was large. There were plenty of offerings for both pizza and pasta. The pizza appeared to be Naples-inspired pizza; however, the pizza was thin but did not taste near as good as Napule in Helsinki. I liked that although it was Italian-style pizza, there were diverse offerings of toppings more preferred with American pizza. I ordered a BBQ cheeseburger pizza with BBQ sauce topping, ground beef, bacon and cheddar cheese. I also ordered a pasta with pesto sauce, fettuccini noodles, Kalamata olives, buffalo mozzarella and parmesan cheese. The pasta was very good and the pizza was OK. A small salad bar was included. Overall 3.5 star experience with good service and reasonable prices.

If you are in Tampere for a few days or more you should not leave before checking out Napoli. It's…read morea popular pizza spot (there might be a line but it moves fast) and they serve 100 different kinds of pizzas made with fresh ingredients. there's also the salad bar, which comes with your meal. This is not the best pizza I have ever had (I'm from NYC) but it's still very impressive and I love the dough that they use. You can get pizzas like #100, the Finlandia, which has venison and Finlandia vodka, but if you want to start simply, try #1 - the Margherita. (And I'm not afraid to eat mine NY style, which means pick it up and fold it in half, and then tell everybody how awesome you are for eating it the "right" way). On my last visit I ordered #6 - the Calzone, which listed ingredients simply "cheese, ham". I misinterpreted this to mean I was going to get served a pie with extra cheese and ham toppings, since I thought the title was simply a name that they gave it, like Quattro Stagione or Frutti di Mare. But no - it's an actual calzone (and good too). If you don't speak Finnish and get the Finnish menu, just ask for the English one. Get a house red wine. When finished, pay for your meal up front and drop some money into the tip jar.

I've visited Sitko twice; once when it had just opened in 2014 and once in May 2015. I've got to…read moresay there was a huge difference between these two experiences. And with the latter, the experience definitely improved. In 2014 they started with a very limited menu, a restaurant space that was too loud and with pizzas that heavily divided opinions. My pizza in 2014 was such that I honestly thought it was the worst pizza I'd had in a real restaurant. It was burned, toppings were so scarce that the crust bubbled and also the taste was just foul (have to admit I'd never eaten anjovis pizza before). After hearing much more positive reviews from colleagues, I decided to give Sitko another go and it was a good choice. The menu has expanded a bit and now had multiple pizzas I could have chosen from. Also the decor had improved so that the space didn't feel as loud anymore. They even had a DJ playing music now. On a Saturday evening the place was just as busy as it was after opening so they've maintained a good buzz and apparently improved the quality, winning long term fans. I went with the Vege pizza with eggplant, goat cheese, pistachio pesto, balsamico and pine nuts. The crust was thicker than on our previous visit and there were in general "a lot more to eat". I liked the tastes otherwise but balsamico combined with goat cheese on a pizza tasted a bit too sweet for me. I still definitely enjoyed the experience and I'm planning to come back to try the Quattro Formaggio and maybe the salmon pizza as well. The pizzas here are very different from pizzas anywhere else in town so I'm sure some like them, some don't. But I recommend trying the restaurant now and enjoying the "different kind of pizza"-experience as they've really tried to built unique tastes into the pizza.
