Live just up the road and tbh have avoided this place in the past because it looks kind of dodgy from the exterior. However, I shouldn't have judged the book by its cover - my recent experience was great. Cost was much lower than I expected from my own research and advice from my dad who's an ex-mechanic. They also fixed up a couple of oil leaks they found at no extra cost. They may not be the most organised and they do lack EFTPOS facilities (bank transfer details are on the invoice so still very easy) but these are minor inconveniences given the affordable prices and thorough job they did. TLDR: Don't be put-off by the shabby storefront - Highly recommended. read more

Went to Niel to get a rooftop light bar installed, got quoted over the phone and was told they were able to do it. Comes to picking the car back up, all they had done was the wiring saying they didn't have the right tool to put in the mounting brackets. The wiring job they had done was fairly poor. The wiring running up to the roof was loose and had come unstuck from the glue, a bit of trim was obstructed by the wire and was unable to be put back down. The wires running to the switch were all loose and sitting in the passenger footwell and a bit of trim from the centre console was also flapping in the footwell. Went back to them to get it removed and fix all the loose parts, to their credit they did do it free of charge and where nice enough about it, however when I went back to collect it they had not removed the wiring harness, just taken the wire of the windshield and just thrown it into the engine bay unsecured and put the window trim back down. Hadn't fixed the loose wire and trim inside the footwell. As someone who has done the wiring to other spotlights on the car, it is clear to see the workers won't care for your car like you would, they do it quickly and cheaply. Went back to try and get my money back as they didn't do what I asked of them, got coldly dismissed by Niel who only offered to redo it again, which would've been the 3rd time coming to him. As I live further away and it wasn't worth my time or fuel coming back. Didn't even have the respect to talk to me and just walked off. Too be fair though, all the other workers where nice and good people, explained what they had done. Really for $80 when I was quoted $500-$700 from other better trusted auto electricians you get what you paid for. read more

Beware! If someone can fit you in at the drop of a hat and is cheap there will be a downside. Ensure that you get warranty information in writing. I've had three alternators fitted through these guys and all have failed. The last in less than three months. I was told there was a 12 month warranty on the product. When I went to claim on this it quickly went to 6 months, then later to 3 months, then "There's no warranty, f@#% off and get off my property." Regardless of what it says at the workshop or on the invoice Neils Auto Electrics is NOT RACQ approved. read more
