He thoroughly explained EVERYTHING during the consultation and even on the day of the surgery. He is extremely professional, helpful, knowledgeable, and experienced. He and his staff put me at ease knowing that my 4 wisdom teeth (3 out of the 4 were impacted) were in excellent hands. I felt cared for by the nurses and Dr. Zager. Since it was my first time at this office, I was worried about the whole experience, especially knowing how brutal wisdom teeth extractions can be. However, all the staff were timely, friendly, and helpful. During the consultation, there are many options for the extractions, but Dr. Zager slowly explained each one to help me better understand what would help. Each visit was efficient and prompt. The procedure itself went smoothly and fairly quick! Dr. Zager was efficient and even made sure I felt okay post surgery when I got home. He made effort to get to know my teeth and my overall health. Before my procedure he explained how he researched about medications and foods, which could be beneficial for my stomach issues post surgery. Just give us a call or submit the form here." Based on this language, I reasonably expected that the initial consultation would be free of charge. At the appointment, I met with a doctor and received x-rays. I was charged $188 at the time, which I was told covered the x-rays in case insurance didn't. After my claim was processed, insurance fully covered the x-rays. However, I was informed that $100 of that charge would be kept as a "consultation fee"--a charge that was never disclosed before or during the appointment and directly contradicts the free consultation claim on their website. Further complicating matters, I learned shortly after my visit that the doctor I saw--who was in-network with my insurance--had left the practice. As a result, Millennium Park Oral Surgery was no longer able to provide in-network care. The consultation I paid for not only involved an undisclosed fee but ultimately led nowhere, since continuing treatment would have been out of network. When I called the office to request a refund--since the x-rays were paid by insurance and the consultation no longer served its purpose--I was told they would only refund $88 and retain $100 for the consultation. During two separate phone calls with the Vice President of the company, I was hung up on. At no point did I use inappropriate language or become hostile--outside of being, understandably, a bit frustrated by the situation. On one of those calls, I was explicitly told that I would only receive the $100 refund if I removed my negative Google review. She also made it clear that the refund would not be processed until the review was taken down. This kind of behavior is unacceptable. Advertising free consultations, withholding undisclosed fees, and conditioning a refund on the removal of honest public feedback is not just unethical--it may violate Illinois consumer protection laws, including those addressing deceptive business practices and coercive conduct. I strongly urge anyone considering this practice to get all charges and billing terms in writing and to document the website's claims before proceeding. My experience revealed serious issues with transparency, communication, and respect for patient rights.

More seriously, I was suddenly discharged from the practice without any prior notice. I only found out on the day of my scheduled appointment to renew my retainer, when my appointment was abruptly canceled and I was told not to come in. This was the first time I was informed that I had been discharged. I was told a discharge letter would be sent to me. Five business days have now passed, and I have received nothing -- no letter, no explanation, no documentation. This lack of communication and continuity of care falls far below acceptable professional and ethical standards. Yesterday was the middle of my teeth replacement journey. I had an upper molar removed (elsewhere)…read moreJan 2020 and my lower back molar removed last year due to an abscess under it, which Dr. Gregory Thomas removed. It was my first encounter with a new oral surgeon. After deciding to not get braces to correct slight imperfection in my bite, I moved ahead which double-surgery. (Can't move implants is why braces first.) An upper left and lower right implant- both at the same surgery. (For me it was the best decision ever, honestly.) Dr. Thomas is cool as a cucumber. His presence is super-calming. He, of course, had to give me local injections in my gums, but numbed me SO well I felt hardly any of it. (Keep in mind...I'm a HUGE baby.) I did not flinch but made one or two whimpers. (Did not mean to, but natural reaction.) The gals he works with are totally in sync with him. Effortlessly in-sync surgery team. The high-tech gadgets & screen (see pic) were totally impressive and reassuring that he was seeking best placement of implant screws and also avoiding my sinus which was very near to where the upper implant needed to go. Pain during procedure? Nope, not once. If I ever had to have this surgery again, lemme tell you, there's only ONE person for this job!! Dr. Thomas is the guy. The surgery he said would be 1hr to 1hour 15 min. Dead on. I had no clue exactly what was going on during the procedure until the drill part. And even if he told me, I kinda blocked it out. Upper was more brain vibration, but I found bottom more difficult cuz you are getting a lot of pressure on movable jaw. Not painful, just a bit of a muscule workout. I got a call later in the day yesterday from his team to make sure I was okay. I had started my antibiotics the day prior, as he requested, and took one Naproxen 500. It was all I needed. Even this morning I'm pain-free, but still took Naproxen500 as a "just in case" situation. I had a bit of mashed potatoes last night so I could take the antibiotic with food, but no hard solids for a few days. No problem. If you are like me, I work out, I got it in my gym visit before surgery, as I cannot work out for 3 days post op. No straws is also an typical oral surgery restriction for 3 days. COST: Each patient case is different. I went into the office a week prior and got prepped with x-rays and these funky clips I had to wear during surgery (part of the high tech surgery). Not painful, not annoying, just part of it. Panoramic xray for bone level checks. All was great! Woohoo! Plus, he called my new dentist's office to find out which implant post she prefers to work with. (There are choices.) He found me at checkout, and said he was thrilled they chose the best of the choices. (Dr. Thomas explained he has several posts to choose from, and 3 are his top favorites for several reasons.) I paid upfront for all of the pre-op work at just a smidge over $400. Yes, yesterday's bill was a lot higher, BUT I priced it out against my insurance allowance (he's out of network for all dental plans) and it was in line with my insurance allowable. ADVICE: check how your insurance pays for out of network care. Mine pays the same but the dentist can charge anything. Again, Dr. Thomas' bill per tooth was in-line with the in-network dentists. Plus, I'm unsure if I had gone to an in-network DDS if they would be as compassionate and capable as Dr. Thomas. Yes, I did pay the full amount upfront, and yes, they did bill my dental insurance on my behalf. Would I choose another oral surgeon? Nope, not as of today. I'm glad this is over, and i have post-op visit next week. Then I wait months for healing and then 2 teeth will be up next. That will be from my new dentist, Dr. Priyanka Patel in Lincoln Park at Rooted Care.

With TMJ disorders, sometimes you just have to go through other tests and diagnostic tools to get to the diagnoses.
