The underground John Lewis car park - very central if you're going shopping - has a total of 550…read morespaces and is accessible via a ramp off Hayes Bridge Road. Obviously it's ideally located if you're shopping in John Lewis or any of the shops in St David's 2 shopping centre, with one set of lifts going directly into John Lewis, and another into St David's 2 shopping centre. The car park is new, well lit, and easy to navigate. There are 35 reserved spaces for disabled customers, and spaces for parents with children just next to the lifts. Prices are cheaper on Sundays when you can park for up to 4 hours for £2 or up to 8 hours for £3. On other days it can get expensive if you're there for any length of time. If you're planning to park after 5pm for an evening in town, rather than using this underground car park go instead to the bigger, main St David's 2 car park at the top of the centre, which has a special £1 deal for evening parking after 5pm right through until 6am, and is open 24 hours (John Lewis car park is not).

I prefer this car park to the St David's 2, mainly because I can avoid the waltzer-like after effects from going around and around that narrow, windy tower. Word of advice to: be mindful as you exit, as there are quite a few shoppers walking around outside the car park. Also, if you're shopping on a Saturday, try to leave before 5.30 as I've been stuck in an unreasonably long queue that's taken nearly half and hour to get through. Thankfully, staff were on hand to direct traffic or else we would have been there longer. Costs for the car park are pretty competitive compared to the others in town: Monday - Saturday £2.00 for 2 hours £4.00 for 3 hours £5.00 for 4 hours £8.00 for 5 hours £9.00 for 6 hours £12.00 for 9 hours £15.00 for 12 hours Sunday £2.00 for 4hours £3.00 for 8 hours

I was there yesterday in a heatwave and there were hardly any other cars there (see my photo)! An excellent, large, outdoor, car park just across the street from the town centre (or Wilkinson in…read morethe opposite direction). It is well signed parking area and easy to find (follow the signs when arriving in Ammanford), and there is a covered walkway to the road. The best thing is the 'pay and display' charge: 50p for 4 hours or 70p all day! Free for disabled badge holders (up to 3 hours).

This is an open-air car park on one level with a lot of spaces, practically opposite the other one. It's not far to walk into town from here - just around the corner towards Tesco. Up to 4 hours it's only £2 (between 8.00am and 6.00pm) which is very good these days, and free for disabled badge holders.

Its £1 per hour which you have to pay up from, rubbish if you decide to stay longer or food takes a while. Parking on the roof usually means getting your car pooed on by the resident seagulls. Buts its convenient and cheap and also at the back there is a 20 minute free area for shopping at Tesco express.

This caught me out last time I parked here, when I was on a meal with some colleagues, as I suddenly realised the time and had to leave abruptly to get back to the car before my Pay & Display ticket expired. In an area where people want to enjoy a leisurely afternoon or evening, paying up front is not the best system, and I think it would be far better if you could pay at the end of your car park stay. Rant over! Other than that, it's open 24 hours; costs £1 an hour (or £9 for 8 hours); it's not too vast, dark or scary; it's very close to all the action; and there always seems to be a few spaces available (380 in total).

There are machines on each level to 'pay and display' but those with blue (disabled) badges get three hours free parking (normal charges apply after that). It's open seven days a week too. My only complaint about this car park is that many spaces are almost impossible to use as upright concrete pillars stand in part of them, taking up quite a bit of space. You can get a normal-sized car in but then can't open a door!

It is always quite busy during the day but usually half empty during the evenings. The special thing about this car park is that it's FREE!

The best (and only) place to park for Ogmore Beach, you can't miss it. Free for those with disabled…read morebadges but otherwise there are charges (pay and display) - see my photo for details. Not a huge amount of spaces and a tricky little mini roundabout to negotiate at one end. Right next to the beach, just clamber down the grassy bank.
