It was my first visit to Blowing Rock, so kind of what I hoped it would be. One of the fun shops was Final Touch which offered home decor from a lot of local crafters. Prices varied a good bit, based on the items, but they had paintings, and weavings, felt art and much more. The reason for the 4 stars though, for being a real arts and crafty area, I was disappointed to see the stained glass they sold was no doubt imported. The pricing on the stained glass items was far too low for a local to have made it. As artists ourselves, I wish they had kept with the local arts theme, low prices like that take business away from local artists, and give them no chance at competing. In my mind a small town touristy town like this should promote their own citizens and artists.

My…read more6-year-old daughter had been looking for a heart-shaped locket after losing one from her grandparents. She finally found what she was looking for at Take Heart! She immediately went to the counter so we could purchase it. The women there were so kind with her, asking about her purchase and her name. They were so touched by her story that they decided to gift it to her for Christmas! We were shocked! We were in the store for a brief amount of time, but that visit will leave a long-lasting impression on her and us. Thank you to "the purple shop" for creating such a wonderful Christmas memory for our family!

An adorable litte cottage on the side of the road, one might mistake it for an adorable country home. Step inside and you quickly realize you're not too far off. What I love about this store is how beautifully simple everything is. Every product available in the store has that amazing feeling of something that is both heart-warming and beautiful at the same time. Whether it be the hand-made notecards or a decorative wall hanging, everything just screams "home." Every time I stop by, I find something to add cheer to my tiny room (last time, it was a framed print with a pressed Queen Anne's Lace flower and a little quote). The jewelry makes perfect gifts for that special friend or family member. The prices really range. Considering a lot of the products are handmade and high quality, I find the items really reasonable. You can get great items for under $5 or you can end up spending over $50. The best part is that there is something amazing in every range. My mom and I have made it a point to stop here at least once a year. The staff is UNBELIEVABLY amazing and will make your time in the store truly an experience. She asked a clerk and was told that the sweater on display was the only one available. As the clerk did not offer further assistance, I reached up to undrape the sweater from a t-shirt so that my friend could try it on. When I did so, the clerk came running across the store screeching, "Don't mess up my display!" I'm sorry, but I thought the purpose of a store that sells clothing was to entice customers to come in, try on the merchandise, and then buy it. If that's the case, someone should educate the clerk with the abrasive customer service skills. I will NEVER return to this store!
