The was my second visit to this gorgeous boutique. I visited 3 years ago and bought the most beautiful silk flower arrangement. There are so many cute outfits, hand towels, jewelry, flower arrangements, etc. I couldn't wait to come back again. We ordered another arrangement. We worked with Kaitlyn and Kathy. They are so nice. The store will deliver, so we had it mailed home. The staff is very friendly and personable. It's a great place to walk around in, and it smells great. read more

Yes, who can refuse a visit to this somewhat small shop with house goods, both for decoration or use in the interior or garden windmills for spinning away in even mild wind. The store has them on their front lawn. My purchase was an embossed church rendering on metal for $69.50, which can be seen on my photo, or on my living room wall. read more

Love to visit this store every time we come to town. Sadly today we weren't able to visit as the store closed at 5p vice 6p (as advertised on digital platforms). And so followed several other folks who were right behind us to visit this wonderful shop. read more

A very cool outdoor patio, garden, landscaping place. All the little nick-nack stuff to patio furniture self-contained waterfalls and just too much stuff to mention. One thing I can say is that there was more stuff being bought here than any other store on main street, so obviously its a popular store. read more

I was shopping for silk floral stems online and came across The Last Straw Inc. I was worried about buying from a store I'd never heard of online. Would my credit card number be stolen or would I even receive the floral stems? I saw some stems that looked like ones sold in a local store (but they ran out thanks to me) and it seemed like the products were real, so I took a chance. I'm glad I did. I got a confirmation email quickly and had my stems within the week. The quality is good -- comparable to some of the higher end silk florals -- and the price was reasonable. I hesitate to leave this review because I want to buy more stems before they run out. (FYI, the mixed fall leaf spray looks as good when you get it as it does online.) read more

Please stop in here if you are on Main Street in Blowing Rock. Even if you do not want to buy a thing, the store is beautiful. I believe it's an old church that has been converted into a charming little store. It's especially wonderful around the Holidays. I pick up a little something here for my tree every year. The staff is very friendly without being annoying. read more

2 stars because we loved their inventory, but buyer beware - we found the exact same item 2 blocks down the street at the Brass Exchange for 30% ($20) less than at The Last Straw. The Last Straw refused to price match or give refund. read more

Established in 1988.

Established in 1988 by owners Roger & Julie Robertson, The Last Straw started in a 750 square foot, one room storefront in Valle Crucis, North Carolina selling dried florals and designs. As the business grew, a demand for more retail space became essential. Our next move was to a Main Street Blowing Rock cottage, where we spent the next 12 years growing the business. In the year 2000, we purchased the 5,000 square foot historic First Baptist Church, originally built in 1927, located on Main Street in Blowing Rock. The unique architecture of the building inspires our creativity daily. With the help of an amazing staff, we continually strive to provide great customer service and quality products for all seasons.

She immediately went to the counter so we could purchase it. The women there were so kind with her, asking about her purchase and her name. They were so touched by her story that they decided to gift it to her for Christmas! We were shocked! We were in the store for a brief amount of time, but that visit will leave a long-lasting impression on her and us. There are so many beautiful items in the store. Each time I go I find a little gift for a friend, a family member, and usually one for myself, and I leave with a smile on my face. When I did so, the clerk came running across the store screeching, "Don't mess up my display!" I'm sorry, but I thought the purpose of a store that sells clothing was to entice customers to come in, try on the merchandise, and then buy it. If that's the case, someone should educate the clerk with the abrasive customer service skills. I will NEVER return to this store!
