    Riddick

We were referred to NC State Neurology by our vet. The outcome was not what we expected, but Dr Amaral and all of the staff we interacted with went above and beyond for our love Riddick. They were kind, compassionate and took a great deal of time with us. When it came time to make the hardest of decisions, they let us say goodbye to him outside surrounded by all of his family. A short time later we received a wonderful heart-felt handwritten card form Dr Amaral, Nurse Cassandra, and Nurse Margaret along with a lovely clay paw print. They listened to us, remembered and honored our loss. The best I could have hoped for under the saddest of circumstances.

"Lucy cannot have these meds: Gentimycin, ......" "We already know that. And you said this twice already, this morning."
    Bike R.

Dermatology Department Review: Dr Mikael Pinto and student "Nira"(?): You had me putting GENTIMYCIN in Lucy's ears. I was already beyond upset with how this appointment went, where my records hadn't been pulled up and I had to email one page of many CSU records and communications, while you had Lucy in the back. How many times did you tell me that i already said Lucy cannot have any Gentimycin? Did anyone notice the word "OTOTOXICITY" written by a professor of Otology and Dermatology who was hired to teach at CSU? In that one page of Lucy's record that I myself emailed you in the middle of the appointment, because you didn't find all my records that were confirmed to be in your system already? And even after I suggested they'd be with ophthalmology if you really needed my help finding them in your system? When you see that word, THAT'S WHEN YOU START ASKING ME QUESTIONS ABOUT HER MEDICATIONS. HOW DARE YOU LET ME WALK OUT THAT DOOR WITH THE VERY ANTIBIOTIC THAT I HAD TO SAY SHE CANNOT HAVE, SO MANY TIMES, THAT YOU TOLD ME I ALREADY TOLD YOU LUCY CANNOT HAVE GENTIMYCIN TWICE THAT MORNING? PLUS YOU SAY YOU ALREADY KNOW FROM SEEING IT IN MY RECORDS (?!?!) After 3 weeks of administering this medication despite that fact that it was oil and gel based, after I was PROMISED it would NOT BE, and PROMISED it would at least be the same saline thin like base that her regular topical ear meds that work is, and it's NOT, I'm seeing Lucy's symptoms go from a 5 to a 10, and the little hearing CSU got her back, has now been taken away. So I finally question this MOMETEMAX med, google it, and my jaw drops. I'm literally beside myself. Well on a "positive" note, in regards to OTOTOXICITY, this thick gunk that's stuck in her microscopic ear canals (9 lbs with stenosis) that's on her CANNOT TAKE list, cannot reach the area deep at the drum that's chronically infected (Other Dr's have swabbed and viewed under anesthesia, to know this, this dr had no way to) so HOPEFULLY I can get this GENTIMYCIN gunk deep flushed out under anesthesia again, ASAP, and her now complete loss of hearing and 24/7 head shaking and scratching and fake yawning and now WHEEZING will STOP, then I can get her correct topical compound and injection meds that can finally get Lucy back on track. So I can then FINALLY get her cataract surgery. I cannot BELIEVE how inappropriate this is! THERE IS NO EXCUSE. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE HAVE TO TURN THEIR PHONES' VIDEO MODE ON, DURING ALL MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS TO AUDIO RECORD FROM YOUR POCKETS OR PURSE! I nearly live in vet clinics, all over the country- and THIS was the WORST experience I've ever encountered, dealing with arrogant unprofessional dishonest amateurs. PEOPLE: For anything related to hearing or symptoms of ear issues, DO YOUR RESEARCH AND ASK WHO HAS AN OTOLOGY DEPARTMENT! ANYTHING BEYOND THE VISIBLE OUTER EAR IS UNCOMMON IN DERMATOLOGY. AN EAR SWAB IS EXTREMELY LARGE FOR A CHIHUAHUA. IT IS NOT, FOR A GREAT DANE. DON'T STOP AT THE BASIC EAR CYTOLOGY AND HAND HELD OTOSCOPE THAT CANNOT VERIFY ANYTHING BUT A TINY PERCENTAGE OF THE EAR DRUM AREA. NOT EVERY DERMATOLOGIST IS ALSO AN OTOLOGIST. EAR PATHOLOGY IS UNCOMMON IN VETERINARY MEDICINE. DO NOT ASSUME BECAUSE THEY CANNOT SEE SOMETHING, THAT IT IS NOT A PROBLEM. WORK WITH OPEN MINDED DR's 50/50 at the least: THEY ASK YOU QUESTIONS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO LEARN NEW THINGS AND YOU DO THE SAME. TRUST YOUR INSTINCTS.

    Buzzy me baby

Everyday goes by i think of him .I took him to this place for a mri and they took part of the money and done the same thing as the other veterinary done. If they had done what they should have maybe he would be here today. I wish i could take them to court but that wouldn't being him back. I hope the people up there are happy. They done nothing for him. But one thing they can do right is drain you forever dollar they can. I am thinking about filing a lawsuit against them. This is the only was to stop them. I wish they had done what his doctor sent him up there for and that was a mri.

Worst care and treatment of our horse. Don't trust them. We unfortunately did and cannot recommend that anyone use them.

I walked in and explained what happened. The receptionist with zero empathy or interest robotically informed me there were no appointments today. I asked about emergency situations, to which she replied she didn't think this was an emergency. Excuse me? The other receptionist told her to ask in back. She went to ask in back and came back to say they would see her but charge double the regular fee. For people that are in the business of taking care of animals it really felt like they gave zero shits but were more than happy to extort me during an emergency situation. I went immediately to care first just 2 minutes down the road and they immediately saw me no questions asked and treated the situation with care and concern. I'll update my review on what they charged, regardless I appreciate the care and concern I received from care first. Never again oak heart...more like heart of stone. Also train your receptionist to do better. Update: my dog got a venomous snake bite on her front paw. I'm glad that the quick action and care by care first was able to help us. Now the bill...so they didn't charge us any weird emergency mark up visit fee, but we did incur significant costs in x-rays and ultrasounds before they determined it was a snake bite. We also had overnight care, antibiotic and pain med costs. All in I paid just under $900 for this incident. That's good money oak heart would have made had they treated the situation appropriately. Bad manners and bad business.

After doing extensive research and reading lots of reviews, I chose Quail Corners. I've been taking my kitty to them for 3 years. Before COVID, you'd use separate entrances for cats and dogs. The front desk employees have all been mostly friendly. The exam rooms could use a facelift in terms of new paint, colors, etc. Some reviews have said their services are more expensive than other places. I can't say much about this as I've only used two vets while owning my cat. For me, I feel that I'm paying for quality and knowledgeable service. Quail Corners also has a 24 hour emergency clinic. Currently you drive up, call the number posted, and let them know you've arrived. The vet tech comes out and takes your pet inside. I don't love this, but what can you do right now? I will say they communicate with you a lot once they examine the animal (phone calls) and talk through any treatment options. I didn't feel too left out and in the dark by not going inside. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Jarchow! She seems to be the primary cat vet at the clinic and is so patient and gentle with my furry boy. Dr. Jarchow almost "talks" to them by making a friendly purring sound while examining the cats. She is also the main vet surgeon and has done two rounds of teeth extractions on my kitty. I felt well informed ahead of and after the surgeries, plus she's never seemed annoyed at my calls to ask more questions.

Their prices are reasonable, and they provide advice without pressure. They have an app that makes refilling prescriptions and scheduling appointments very easy. Recently, due to an untreatable health condition, I had to put one of my rabbits down, and the staff was beyond caring and considerate throughout the entire process. One vet tech even brought bananas in for my rabbit on his last day. Overall, I felt they went above and beyond to make him as comfortable as possible. This is only one of several very alarming things. They are horribly incompetent. From the distracted and poorly trained/practiced doctors to the terrible and rude vet techs. More importantly they prescribe incorrect drugs or drugs with incorrect dosage instructions like it's a whimsical profession they chose to devote their lives to. I would not go here ever again, for the sake of your sanity and your pets health. This place is a nightmare!!!!
