EVERY teen NEEDS this course! DO NOT SKIP THIS!!!!…read more I think anyone with a teen driver with access to this program is INSANE if you don't attend this class. It's a $99 sign up fee, which is returned to you if you sign up with a paper check (yes, you can mail it in). But honestly, the $99 donation to attend this is a steal and INFINITELY VALUABLE if you value your kiddo's life! We did the course 2 years ago for our older teen (pre-covid) & now just completed for the younger teen (post-covid). I wouldn't care if I had to wear a mask the whole day to do this class - I PROMISE you it's PRICELESS to give your teen driver some REAL experience and some good education about driving hazards. Driver training is just not the same as it used to be (and people drive larger cars and faster speeds than 20-30-40 years ago when we all learned!), and even with a year of permit-driving your kid won't get what they can at this course. Hazard/avoidance skills, ABS steering skills, SKID skills (yes, really skidding, like control out of a 360-spin), and drop-curb (tire off road in gravel) experience, curve control, even a simulated drunk-driving (affectionately called "drunk goggles") experience. There's probably even more in there that I forgot! Instructors are AWESOME and really give the full-experience to every kid. YOU DO NOT NEED A VEHICLE to do this - so even if you have to Uber to the program that's fine! An adult does need to attend with the teen, 30 hours on permit driving to attend (yes, they can go before full-license). Don't be put off by the ONE presentation by a Kia Dealer/Rep - Kia (in Charlotte anyway) sponsors and provides the vehicles for this program - it's why the cost is still $99 after years of the program running! Let Kia get their little 'schpeal' in & be patient, again this is abut preparing your kid for REAL driving scenarios that you will never be able to provide in a SAFE environment! Are there some wait times, yes on occasion - let's all be ADULTS here and understand things are sometimes beyond control and 'crap' happens. The program is SMOOTHLY RUN and you'll get all your info by email of what to do, when to go, number to call for issues, etc. (just READ the emails peeps!). Again - I promise you will not regret the skills your teen (and even YOU, you'll get to drive a little also!) will get from this experience. https://putonthebrakes.org

The North Carolina teen driving process felt overwhelming as someone coming from another state…read more Building Confidence Driving School helped improve my understanding of the NC process and made getting my son his driver's license much easier. DMV appointments are difficult to get and availability can be months out. However, my son was able to take the road test through the school which eliminated the waiting period. Angelo was a great instructor who was patient and easy to work with. He even took my son to the DMV to get his driver's license after they completed the road test. I'd definitely recommend Building Confidence Driving School to any parents of a teenager trying to obtain their license. The school will be there to help you and your teen meet the requirements process, while also helping you avoid the hassle that comes in dealing with the NCDMV.

I ended up in a sticky situation with another establishment I had put multiple driving hours in with but due to their road vehicle no longer being available I had to quickly find another company to help me with my DMV road test. Not only did I ace my road test but their team was professional, very knowledgeable in the requirements (learner permits, non-owner car insurance, etc.) and held my hand through the entire process. Gratitude to Angelo and Lisa.,

On the day of my appointment, I contacted them to see if we could push my appointment by 30 minutes. He asked me if I could change the appointment to a Sunday AT 6AM because the car was malfunctioning. I don't know how late in the day it would have been before HE would decide to call me to let me know that we needed to reschedule. Nonetheless, I ama glad that I contacted him first. On Sunday, I woke up at 5am to be up and ready for my appointment, just in case he showed up a few minutes early. Around 6:15, he was a no show, so I called him to get his ETA to which he said, 'Damn, my alarm did not go off. Let's schedule AGAIN.' To which I politely declined. And OF COURSE I couldn't go back to bed because I made sure that I had a snack and a hot tea to keep me up for the lesson. This goes without saying, but I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. With a faulty car and an owner with an even faultier alarm clock, it doesn't make sense to put your safety, sanity and weekend sleep schedule at risk.

I would not recommend NC Professional Driving School. Sammy did not show up for my son's first…read morebehind the wheel lesson. The morning of he texted me saying he would be a few minutes late. We waited for 45 minutes and he was a no show. The second lesson he changed the time of our scheduled appointment after I texted him to confirm the time on the day of the appoinment. This happened again on my son's second behind the wheel lesson. He changed the time and then was 15 minutes late. He had another student in the car for my son's second lesson and my son's second lesson was driving this other student in the car from Huntersville to Mathews to the student's home. My son said he was not comfortable with the way Sammy spoke to him, more yelling not teaching. My son also informed me that Sammy would be on his phone and texting during lessons! I believe this because day of 3rd behind the wheel I was texting with Sammy and then called him and he answered while driving in the car with a student giving a lesson. I know because after speaking with me for a couple of minutes and me expressing that I was unhappy with his services he told me he was giving a lesson and had to "pay attention" to his student driver. I chose this school based on reviews and that they had a self-paced online teen course. I would highly reconsider using this school for the driver's ed teen education . They are unreliable and do not communicate well. Please take the time to read all reviews and do not make the same mistake I did. Sammy apologized for the way he spoke to me and explained he was having a bad day and has students all over Charlotte. If I am paying a premium of $428.00 I expect the owner to be professional and not make excuses for his disrespectful behavior nor his lack of being able to schedule appointments correctly. He does not respect other people's schedules or time nor does he model safe driving by texting and speaking on the phone during lessons. The lack of respect for my time, the lack of safety while driving and the way he spoke to me were only part of this very unpleasant experience.

I can honestly say, that students from the DRIVE! school are provided with teachers who genuinely care & current, accurate curriculum. They know more than other classes/schools & are better prepared. When I present the "Look Twice NC" Program, students are always receptive & grateful. Their commitment to every student's survival is clear in their efforts, to not-only, cover the curriculum, but also invite the Sheriff's' Officers & us, out to every class! Patient Recognizing that each student learns at his or her own pace, we make sure students understand each lesson and welcome their questions. To help even nervous drivers relax, our instructors never yell at students or minimize their concerns.
