From the UK and passed first time!

I recently moved to Charlotte from the UK and had booked a driving test and need lessons and a car to do my test in (and only realized this two weeks before my test)! Mr. Workineh was absolutely brilliant and was so accommodating to help me get some lessons in before my test. He is extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and gave me excellent tips to ensure that I passed my test and I did first time! I could not have done this experience and passed my test without him. If you are looking for a driving school this is it!

I would not recommend NC Professional Driving School. Sammy did not show up for my son's first…read morebehind the wheel lesson. The morning of he texted me saying he would be a few minutes late. We waited for 45 minutes and he was a no show. The second lesson he changed the time of our scheduled appointment after I texted him to confirm the time on the day of the appoinment. This happened again on my son's second behind the wheel lesson. He changed the time and then was 15 minutes late. He had another student in the car for my son's second lesson and my son's second lesson was driving this other student in the car from Huntersville to Mathews to the student's home. My son said he was not comfortable with the way Sammy spoke to him, more yelling not teaching. My son also informed me that Sammy would be on his phone and texting during lessons! I believe this because day of 3rd behind the wheel I was texting with Sammy and then called him and he answered while driving in the car with a student giving a lesson. I know because after speaking with me for a couple of minutes and me expressing that I was unhappy with his services he told me he was giving a lesson and had to "pay attention" to his student driver. I chose this school based on reviews and that they had a self-paced online teen course. I would highly reconsider using this school for the driver's ed teen education . They are unreliable and do not communicate well. Please take the time to read all reviews and do not make the same mistake I did. Sammy apologized for the way he spoke to me and explained he was having a bad day and has students all over Charlotte. If I am paying a premium of $428.00 I expect the owner to be professional and not make excuses for his disrespectful behavior nor his lack of being able to schedule appointments correctly. He does not respect other people's schedules or time nor does he model safe driving by texting and speaking on the phone during lessons. The lack of respect for my time, the lack of safety while driving and the way he spoke to me were only part of this very unpleasant experience.

On the day of my appointment, I contacted them to see if we could push my appointment by 30 minutes. He asked me if I could change the appointment to a Sunday AT 6AM because the car was malfunctioning. I don't know how late in the day it would have been before HE would decide to call me to let me know that we needed to reschedule. Nonetheless, I ama glad that I contacted him first. On Sunday, I woke up at 5am to be up and ready for my appointment, just in case he showed up a few minutes early. Around 6:15, he was a no show, so I called him to get his ETA to which he said, 'Damn, my alarm did not go off. Let's schedule AGAIN.' To which I politely declined. And OF COURSE I couldn't go back to bed because I made sure that I had a snack and a hot tea to keep me up for the lesson. This goes without saying, but I wouldn't recommend this place to ANYONE. With a faulty car and an owner with an even faultier alarm clock, it doesn't make sense to put your safety, sanity and weekend sleep schedule at risk.

Her massage techniques seriously rivaled those of the estheticians I have worked with at top tier spas across the country. I wish I lived closer or I'd be here all the time. In the past I have come for shampoo blowouts and loved it. They definitely prep students to set them up for success.

I've been going to the Aveda Institute in Charlotte since relocating from California, and overall I…read moregenuinely appreciate what the school offers -- especially the affordability and the opportunity for students to learn in a real salon environment. In San Francisco, the Aveda schools separate students into different levels or cohorts, so you have a better idea of experience level and appointment timing. Charlotte seems a bit more of a mixed experience, so I always plan extra time when booking. This most recent appointment was unfortunately a bit challenging for me. What was expected to be a standard haircut and blowout turned into nearly a three-hour appointment, and by the end I was honestly exhausted. The instructors were excellent and very attentive. One instructor in particular stepped in professionally to help guide the haircut shape, layering, and face framing I was asking for, which I really appreciated. He was kind, observant, and clearly invested in helping the student succeed while making sure I felt heard as the guest. Where the experience became difficult was more around confidence level, pacing, and overall guest interaction. The student was very sweet and well-intentioned, but there was a great deal of nonstop conversation throughout the appointment, and it became hard to relax. I think one of the biggest skills students can learn -- beyond technical training -- is how to read the room and recognize when a guest may want a quieter, more calming salon experience. I had mentioned upfront that I'd been stressed and was really looking forward to a relaxing shampoo and scalp massage, but unfortunately the shampoo experience felt rushed and incomplete despite spending quite a bit of time at the bowl. The blowout and styling process also became very lengthy and product-heavy, and by the next day my hair felt sticky and my scalp itchy from the amount of product used. That said, I do want to give credit where it's due: the staff handled checkout professionally, and the supervisor kindly offered for me to return within seven days if I wanted adjustments to the layers or styling. I truly appreciated that gesture and the professionalism behind it. I think Aveda Institute Charlotte has a lot of talent and potential, but perhaps there's room for additional coaching around guest communication, confidence-building, professionalism, time management, and creating a more relaxing client experience alongside the technical education. I'll likely return because I do believe in supporting beauty schools and student learning environments -- I'll just be more mindful about scheduling enough time and communicating my preferences more directly going forward.
