We called MasterTech Environmental for an air quality test and moisture assessment. Tom Duff was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. The air quality test showed no airborne mold, but the dampness in the ceiling was of concern. His team came out to remove parts of the drywall to assess for mold. Trace amounts of black mold were uncovered along with quite a bit of white mold. The team quickly removed all affected drywall and insulation. When I tell you these guys are thorough and work clean, I mean it. Tony, etc were meticulous with closing off the affected areas for safety and ensuring no mess was left behind. There wasn't an ounce of dust anywhere. It was as if they were never here! MasterTech Environmental does not replace the dry wall, but they recommended an incredibly reliable contractor who did. He also worked exceptionally clean and had my office back to normal in 2 days. Diane in the office is a sweetheart and her communication was second to none. She kept me updated on everything and ensured I received detailed reports complete with photos for insurance claims. Pricing was upfront and fair and they provide a 5 year guarantee on their work. I cannot recommend this wonderful business enough. They will take excellent care of you and your home!

While I wanted to get it fixed the prices I was given by other supposedly reputable companies in the area were astronomical. I delayed until I was given a realistic estimate from Mastertech. That is not to say it was cheap but reasonable by comparison. I was especially impressed when getting my estimate that I was being listened to and not talked at. The guys who came to my house were friendly and professional. They sent up a containment area so the rest of the house was safe from the work area. It only took a few days to clean out and clean up 40+ years of stuff in the basement. Now I have a perfectly clean and empty basement. Oh ,and I have a certificate stating my house was clean. Now for a side note to people like me who honestly don't know what you got till it's gone.....I will say that you must (let me emphasize this) must know what you want to keep before they start clearing out your stuff. They will save what you say you want to keep and anything they deem valuable like silverware or family photos If they can. They we're thorough and I was naive and didn't think they would toss out my closed plastic bins of media or a sculpture I made. This is not their fault. What one seems valuable is subjective and I should have been more diligent in checking on what I wanted to keep. Now, let's all have a moment of silence for the gargoyle I made in high school. Prices from Cygnus were the cheapest I found for duct cleaning. That being said, I think that was the only bright spot of this company. I had my ducts cleaned and it basically made my whole house dusty and floors dirty around the vents. The service is not as thorough as I liked it to be. I thought that all vents would be taken off to render the service, but it was not done so. They had a tube/device the size of a brakeline (on car brakes) that would fit throught the slits on the vents. They assured me that this would be enough. Looking at the vents from the outside, it definitely could have been better. The company pride itself as being a part of the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) and follows it's guidelines for cleaning, but I guess removing vent covers to clean is not a requirement. After the service was done and I paid, I had a problem with my unit (fan constantly on) that I asked to have one of the guys sent out again to take a look at it. The owner asked me if everything on the thermostat says off. I tell him, "yes." He then tells me that it might be another problem with the thermostat or the unit that he and his guys would not know how to fix. I tell him it might be something small or one of the guys flipped a switch that we are unaware of. Well, basically he tells me it's my house and I should know what's wrong with it. He got irritated that I'm asking for him or one of his workers to come look at it. Keep in mind that the one of the reasons I hired this company other than price is because they were local. Long story short, he tells me to call him the next morning. I ask him, "When?" He tells me, "Anytime," but I knew in his voice this was not going to happen. I finally figured out the problem with the fan being on and there was a switch on the unit. I called the owner the next day to tell him no need to send anybody out. He never picked up his cell phone and never returned the call. Very unprofessional and needless to say, I will never use Cygnus again.

The person could not schedule the inspection unless the call came from the sales agent. Apparently thats the only way "her computer lets her schedule" The inspection itself was not adequate. The inspector Dave seemed to speed through the inspection. We noticed one leak in the ejector pipe but failed to mention that in his report. Attention to detail and quality of service that you would expect from an inspection company is simply not there. This was a complete waste of my money.
