Looking to spot the next NBA superstars? Summer League is the place to be! Games take place at the Mack Center and Cox Pavilion on the UNLV campus. General admission tickets are good for all day at this 10-day event. I'm down for any and all live sporting event (thoroughbred horse racing and pbr rodeo being my faves), but must say 10 days worth of b-ball is a little much for me. I'd suggest getting tickets for just a day two, unless of course, your bae is playing on the court. Only thing is that these games get packed, especially on weekends. Even though there's a mask mandate for indoor events like this, there's really no enforcement at all. I'd say only about 40% (at best) of the audience had masks on properly and actually kept them on. My family and I have attended NBA Summer League for over a decade and each year it continues to grow and get better and more entertaining. Buy your tickets early, its best to get an NBA iD and get in early on the action, tickets tend to sell out quickly. Using your NBAiD you can win great prizes. Most times I feel like I am getting gouged when I go to events, but this is one time when it is not the case. It could be due to the UNLV affiliation, buy you eats from the UNLV affiliated vendor/student vendors, in my opinion it just makes you feel like your dollar is going to the right place. I also buy T-shirts and souvenirs, they are reasonably priced, just as if you actually went to Nike. They are ACTUAL Nike branded tees, so that is great as well. There is not a bad seat in the house, I have sat court side, in the Michelob Ultra Deck and in General seating, its all good. I recommend getting there early for best seating. We got there this year (2023) at12:30 and the line in wrapped around T&M. It took about 20 minutes to get inside, but they definitely should have had more direction on where the line started. I cannot stress enough, GET THERE EARLY! People will try to take your seats if it's sold out that day, nothing is assigned, people can be ruthless. Otherwise it's fantastic. read more

Getting there: Located at UNLV, parking was kind of chaotic but we opted to uber instead of drive which seemed to pretty easy to navigate. Experience: This was my first time going to watch the Summer League games, and I must say it was pretty fun. The smaller gym might get packed and finding seating can be hard, but that only adds to the excitement and energy of the event. The only downside would be the slightly pricey drinks, but given the overall experience, it's a small price to pay for all the fun of this event. So this was my second time attending NBA Summer League and honestly it is a blast. There are two courts set up and goes on for about 10 days in July and includes both active and up and coming stars of the NBA to try out different rosters. This event is held at the UNLV Thomas and Mack and COX Pavilion centers. Pricing for this year is as follows (but double check on the website) General admission - $40.00 This allows you general seating (not assigned) in the non upgraded areas. Honestly, on night one, my friends and I were really close to the action so seats were not bad Reserved seating - $150.00 This allows for better seating opportunities mostly the first few rows towards center court There is premier seating in a lounge area for $425 per person and court side seats for $800 per person. In closing, I do not follow basketball all that close but being able to sit and watch live sports is always a fun time and I look forward to this every year. The good and bad of my summer league experience in 2022. Good: * Pay $40 and you can watch as many games as you want in one day. * We saw lots of current and former NBA players. Some are willing to take a photo with you (but definitely not the superstars). * Thomas & Mack Center and Cox Pavillon were nice. Good venues with reasonable pricing for food and drinks. Cox is smaller and feels like a high school gym. It makes everything more intimate. You are closer to the players and the media. No bad seats in Cox. Thomas & Mack is decent. Get there 30 minutes before the game if you want decent seats. Bad: * The quality of play was sloppy. Lots of turnovers, lots of loose balls, lots of missed shots. It felt like watching a junior high school game. Some games' sole purpose was to get one player lots of shots. And the other 4 players were mandatory props. Occasionally, the crowd gets excited when an alley-oop happens. Most of the players have never played together so it's understandable the flow of the game is bad. * Las Vegas is hot in the summer. Expect 100-degree temperatures, even at 9:00 pm. * Covid - not the fault of summer league, but you're risking your health if you choose to watch. I'd say 80% of people didn't wear a mask. * Some top draft picks get "shut down" after only 1 summer league game. So if you want to see the #1 pick, you'd better go to the first game. read more

Summer League is always a good idea. This is my third year attending NBA Summer League and it never seems to disappoint. FREE Parking at the Thomas and Mack Arena and General Admission seating is $40 with all the fees and surcharges works out to about $58 a ticket. General Admission let's you sit anyone in the area except for the assigned seats and the summer league VIP seats. If you want to get a really good seat it's best to go early, door open one hour before the game starts. I arrived at about 11am and the first game was 1pm and we got really good seats a few rows behind the players bench and get access to where the players walk into the locker room. They had 8 games through out the day in the two different gyms (Thomas and Mack Center and The Cox Pavilion) The best seating in the Thomas and Mack Arena is when you enter the doors go to your left or your right through the first doors you see and walk down the stairs as close as you can to the first seats that are available. Section 118 is my favorite place to sit. You are not allowed to bring big bags into the arena, small pocketbooks are allowed and clear totes and book bags. If you have a large bag you will have to leave it in your car. They sell popcorn, chicken fingers and french fries at the concession stand and other finger foods. Plenty to do and lots to see when enjoying a day a NBA Summer League. There are normally basketball players walking around so bring a sharpie and something they can autograph also it's a good idea to bring a back up charger if you plan on being there all day. I had been wanting to check out NBA Summer League for years, well before it blew up to what it is today. I finally got a chance to this summer, though not until the tail end when there were only 4 teams left in the tournament. It seems like you can get the most out of your money if you go earlier on, when you can watch games all day for $50 ($35 general admission tickets plus all the taxes and fees, though there are more expensive reserved and court side seats if you want guaranteed close-up spots) and when there might be more star players in attendance. I got to see one of the players I wanted to see, and that's all that matters to me. I arrived at the end of the Lakers-Cavs semi-finals game, which drew a huge crowd. It emptied out quite a bit after, so we were able to move up closer to the action. A big minus and why I can't give 5 stars is all the trash that gets left behind from earlier games, which leaves a mess and stinky odor. There are a few activities you can do out on the concourse if you want a break from the games. My favorite was doing a "virtual meet and greet" with the first or second year player of your choice (out of about 6 choices) - Ben Simmons for me :p I also got to take a picture with the Summer League championship trophy. I think in the games previous to the day I went they had player autograph signings, which is pretty cool. As for food, there are plenty of concession stands, and I had a few fries which were pretty delicious to me. If you're visiting from out of town, the Thomas and Mack Center is so close to the Strip, so getting there is pretty easy. We took Uber from the Hard Rock and got to the venue in lickety-split! It was unclear where to go to for pick-up from Thomas and Mack, but there is an area out front in the parking lot area for ride-share pick-up. And FYI they did not enforce their bag policy. I brought a small clear clutch with me, but I saw plenty of regular purses and sacks inside. If there are players I want to see participating in upcoming Summer League games, I would not hesitate to come back! Pretty good value for what you get :) read more

Ah, Summer League! The time of the year when I can find more than one excuse to hit the road to Vegas for a long weekend! :D This event is an absolute steal if you're an avid NBA fan. One ticket gives you access to all games for that day -- that's 9 hours of basketball for a general admission price of roughly $25!! Oh and did I mention it's first come first serve on seating! Get there early prior to the game/team you want to watch and chances are you'll get a nice selection of seats to choose from. Players sign autographs in between games as well so don't forget to bring the merch and a sharpie! I've been going to SL since 2005 and while it's definitely seen its changes (less access to the players/coaches/front office execs & more crowds), it's still an amazing experience that keeps me going back year after year. Someone sitting behind us complained about how it sucks that they didn't do assigned seating. Well, I actually liked the open seating because you can switch views and seats anytime you'd like. People would arrive super early to catch a closer courtside seat but hey, if they are willing to spend 10+ hours there, they deserve those seats! We were up in the boonies but still managed to see everything and had a great time this year! Free parking was a pleasant surprise and totally made our day that much better! I highly recommend if you are a fan of basketball- we saw lots of famous people there courtside and in the VIP seats! Totally worth your time and money to check out the NBA Summer League! read more

NBA Summer League is pure affordable awesomeness for any basketball fan so here we go. ========= OVERVIEW ========= NBA Summer League takes place at the end of the NBA Season, before the start of the new season. It's usually held during the month of July and is a chance for rookies and young players to pop their NBA cherry. It's purpose if for these players to get a chance to preview the NBA life on the court... (coaching, reffing, court time) ...to aid in their development. In addition many fringe players who WERE NOT draft or are not on any teams, get a chance to come out and try to make the team. It's a long shot but it's the last opportunities for these fringe players, usually consisting on NCAA College Players. ========= LOCATION ========= This page is for the LAS VEGAS summer league, which consists of most of the NBA's teams. Roughly 2/3's of the NBA's teams play here. The rest play in Orlando's summer league. It's held at the THOMAS & MACK CENTER, which is the home arena of the UNLV MEN'S BASKETBALL team. In side there's the COX PAVILLION which is a small sub-arena with like 30 rows on each side of the court. Then also under the same dome across the hall is the actually THOMAS & MACK ARENA which is huge, where the UNLV Men's team plays. BOTH arenas host summer league games,, usually at the same time with games starting within an hour of each other, allowing to to game hop. =============== FINAL THOUGHTS =============== NBA Summer League is amazing. I just completed my second year in a row attending the Summer League games in Vegas and it's great stuff. Great esp. if you're a more serious Basketball fan. The type who watches and appreciates the Game. The quality of play isn't NBA caliber, but there are a couple of players on each team who will make a roster. There are also a good number of players one is familiar with thru their college teams or from their short time in the NBA. I won't get into the games as much as the experience, for which I give it Five Stars. What's great about the Summer League is that it fills a Sports void in July.The league gets most teams from the NBA and really benefits from having the Lakers be a part of the League. Laker fans give the league an extra boost. The games run consecutively between UNLV's Thomas and Mack Center and the smaller Cox Pavilion. The venue works nicely for each set of games that start approx a half hour after one another. One can go between venues to watch games and the tickets are general admission, meaning you can sit in any open seat (with some exceptions). The building is easy enough to get to via cab, or for me, the local bus for only $2 from my hotel. Doors open up at 12:30 pm and the concession stands sell everything you're gonna want to eat. They also sell beer and liquor. You can step outside to smoke if you like as well. The league has a few vendors in the concourse. Fewer this past year than last. Yoy can buy souvenirs, enter a contest or try virtual reality BBall or play NBA2K18. There are at least 8 games a day between both courts and moving between games is no big deal. The smaller Cox Center allows for a closer view and feels for the games played. You're closer to the court and it feels more "real". If you 're really into the NBA, you'll see a number of familiar faces in the venues from current and former players, coaches, GM's, sports writers and commentators to owners. They're all out there, more so early on when the games first start. It feels like an NBA Convention and in its own way it is. Very cool. It's also cool that fans of certain teams come out and represent themselves. It feels a bit like the allegiance one has for their own NFL team when they go to a game. Makes for a more entertaining experience. Overall this is a great event at a great location at a great time of the year. For $30/day for tickets, it's a great deal. Oh...Parking is free as well and when the games end, you can always hit The Strip. I'm hooked and plan to attend next year. read more

One of my favorite things about living in Vegas is checking out NBA Summer League! Plus, I got to watch my Golden State Warriors take home 2013's championship (perhaps the only championship I'll ever see them win in person in my lifetime haha) 2014 was definitely more packed, especially with the stacked draft that just happened and Lebron announcing his move back to Cleveland, a ton of people had their Lebron Cav jerseys out that they didn't set on fire. To maximize enjoyment, I highly suggest buying tickets at the box office a coupe of days before the event so you aren't left waiting in line and missing out on the action. If you know for sure you are going to want to attend a game on any given day, just buy the tickets ahead of time. This is a great event for kids who get to meet some well-known and up and coming players, but it can be draining if you aren't a true basketball fan. Rant: To the girls attending, wearing their Steph Curry jerseys, trying to look cute, and just walking around hoping to run into an NBA all-star and never actually watching the game, but constantly updating your FB page or IG page saying you are at summer league, please just stay home. One thing I really love about this event is the interesting sports fans you get to meet and the conversations you get to have with folks. People come from all over the place to be here since it's such a great opportunity to see so much great basketball up-close. There's also one guy, who we refer to as "Farmar jersey" (he was wearing a Lakers Farmar jersey the first time we saw him), who sits really close to the front at games and calls the game like he's a sportscaster. I've seen him piss off so many people and guys actually want to beat him down because they were so annoyed, but he actually is pretty good at calling the game. We are blessed to have this league in our city, and for the past ten years I got to see players like Dwight Howard (who was wasn't impressed inaugural summer league season), Chris Paul, Kevin Durant, Blake Griffin, and even seen a unknown Jeremy Lin outplay John Wall (the first player pick in the 2010 draft) and I was wondering, who the heck is Jeremy Lin? Now, we know who he is. Well, the NBA has finally figure it out, and now utilizing the Thomas and Mack to it's full capacity. A few years ago, they made the Thomas and Mack an afterthought, and pretty much only use the COX center for most of their games. Good grief! For entertainment value, this event is one of the best deals in Las Vegas! $25.00 a day will get you into eight NBA games, and never know who sitting next too because some of the biggest names in basketball are in the stands.. Personally, I wanted to give Larry Bird the finger because he killed me a few times in the 1980's, but it was neat to be sitting next to that old fart. Unlike the All-star game, this league doesn't draw bad apples into our city, and it's family friendly appeal has something for everyone. Watching this season games, it's pretty easy to see that the Utah Jazz has scored big time with Dante Exum. Hopefully in 2019...Dante will become a LA Laker. Dude, get out of Salt Lake City... Free parking cheap ticket prices for a close experience to watch some basketball players play games. No assigned seating and first come first serve. Gates opened at 12noon for the 1:30pm game. It was extremely hot and it could be quite a bit dangerous while waiting to get in. Many people were standing at the bottom of the steps to get in. When the door opened everyone went up into the steps to the entrance. This is a potentially dangerous situation for this big crowd as you can barely move. They should consider better management of the crowds and lines. Still a good deal if you want to see a close basketball game. read more
