My search to find a Fiduciary Financial Advisor(s) ended up being way more challenging and elusive than I would thought. I started by asking for referrals from my social network of family, friends, colleagues. Much to my surprise several were in the same "boat" as me. That is, either searching and not finding what they were seeking, or they had an existing relationship with a financial firm/representative yet it wasn't meeting their needs and expectation, and I don't mean strictly in respect to the financial monetary return.
I met with several people, believe it was five. Didn't care for most, they were all about a rush to find out how much money "we were talking about" over getting to known me and my situation. I I felt all they cared about were the $$$ and qualifying me first to see if I was "worth their time". They didn't even seem to what to get into a "consultation" as advertised until I discolsed in the first few minutes how much money i had! Several of them were not Fiduciary at all.
Then I met with 1080 Financial Group, Matt and Stephen. Like night and day (in a wonderful way) compared to all the rest! Matt and Stephen of 1080 Financial Group were totally different and stood leagues apart from all the rest!I l liked them immediately and more important trusted that they had my best interest in mind throughout. I had several meetings with them, ie free consultations, before moving forward, although my mind was made up in the first meeting, they were exactly what I was seeking and hoping to find. Not too big where I would be a little fish lost in a big pond of big money clients, not so new and green to the investment industry that I had reservations on their decision making and financial savvy. No pressure, took lots of time with me, educating me, answering all my questions, etc. I had done a bit in way of educating myself in advance by reading a lot online, business nightly news, and several investment magazines. I came prepared with questions. They were more than patient indulging all my questions, rather it was clear they had a passion for the industry that transcended the stereotype of "in it for the money and prestige". Rather what they exuded was that they welcomed and enjoyed sharing what they knew and encouraged my questions and seeking of information on their invest process and decision making. I think they are great, and highly recommend at least going for an initial free consultation as you will at a minimum have a comparison point and points to cover as you compare like to like with other advisors. Oh, and their follow up and accessibility after I became a client has also been 5 star! read more
