We have just entered our second year at Natures Edge and our family couldn't be happier! My 3yo comes home every day excited, with stories about what she made or little things she's learned. They have a huge outside area, and I love that my girl gets to run around and play every day. They do yoga every Thursday, crafts seemingly every day, and sometimes special events like Cowboy week or soccer school! They also provide breakfast, lunch and snacks that are extremely healthy and they do a great job keeping the parents informed by messaging the menu every morning. We are so thankful for the nurturing care our 2.5 year old receives at Nature's Edge. She began Preschool here fulltime 6 months ago and she is thriving! She is in the caterpillar class and loves the sensory play, nature walks, and all the science fun they participate in. The school is helping us potty train and it's going so well. Our daughter is not a great eater, so the school recommended that they log a food journal so that we know exactly what she eats during the day, and we can then take that log to our pediatrician. We could not be happier! The staff has gone above and beyond time after time, and we feel so confident in the care she receives! We started at their sister school (for under 2 year olds), and transferred here when she turned 2. They've been in business for over 20 years and we know why.... My son attended for over 1.5 years and we had a great experience with NECDC. We left only because we grew our family and I'm taking a break from working until my baby is bigger. This was our 3rd daycare experience and by far the best. I knew it was the right place when we showed up for our second day and my son happily ran inside. That NEVER happened with the previous daycares. I also liked the preschool structure versus an in-home center as my son had more playmates and more space during outside time. Ms. Jay definitely has a knack for hiring. She and her team of teachers are dedicated and caring. My kid is not what you'd label an easy kid and all the teachers showed such patience with him. Our son attended Nature's Edge for about a year before entering special education at LBUSD. The teachers and director were wonderful and very accommodating of our constantly changing schedule and attentive to our son's special needs. We loved that he was exposed to a variety of foods since they provided meals plus special activities like music, nature walks, yoga, and age appropriate crafts and playtime. All this and at an affordable rate. They even worked with us on a discounted rate when our son could only attend part of the week due to his schedule of therapies. We also appreciated getting regular feedback on his development at the school during pickup and the parent-teacher meeting. Nature's Edge Center is fantastic! Not only the teachers are knowledgeable and professional but they are compassionate and kind. I was home with my son for almost 2 and a half years so, when it came the time to find a school for him, I wanted to make sure that: 1) the teachers were kind, understanding, confident and sweet; 2) their educational values aligned to mine (we try our best to follow a child-led learn and play- approach); 3)great communication and updates on my son's learning outcomes and developmental milestones. Nature's Edge was one of the only daycares I could find that accommodated my coparenting schedule. They have a great onboarding and constantly give you feedback on your child. The teachers are very caring and enjoy being with the kids. My daughter had a great experience there and while she wasn't there for very long, she learned a lot and always left school happy. I am forever grateful they were able to put a plan together and accommodate my schedule as a working coparent. read more

I have had nothing, but great experiences here. Miss J is so cool, and the kids love her. This place is always kept very clean and tidy. I love how much effort has been given toward providing kids with a great time throughout the day. My daughter used to love going there and she wanted to stay longer when it was time to leave. I had very high expectations for Natures Edge because of the wonderful reviews especially the one Leslie H. made about the school being able to work with her behavioral issues with her two year old son. First off there seems to be a lot of miscommunication with the teachers and Mrs. Jay, the Schools Director and Owner. The Teachers there seem stressed, over worked and like they have to walk on egg shells around Mrs. Jay. Secondly, when I was in Orientation with my sons teachers I explained to them that my son would have a hard time transitioning and sometimes he did not take naps, they reassured me that they would work on those things with him and they understand that his first couple weeks would be used for him to adjust. Mrs. Jay was not present when I spoke with the teachers, I had a separate orientation with her and the other teachers were running around printing papers for us to sign. Thirdly, Mrs. Jay was very unprofessional when speaking to me on important issues and concerns. I had mentioned to her that I had a Domestic Violence Restraining order against my soon to be ex husband. I asked her how she would handle a situation where My boyfriend and My Sons Dad both showed up to a pick up, she told me that she would terminate my sons contract with the school because she "did not want to deal with the paper work." Thirdly, on The First Day of School my son did not want to take a Nap, Mrs Jay said he was "Fussy and Bad" in the same breath she told me she could only offer me part time and would have to contact my Crystal Stairs Worker. She continued to say my son didn't behave well and that she usually offers part time to children who have not been in daycare previously but didn't offer it to us because she thought my son would do good and he did not. She told me that the teachers were tired after dealing with my son and that they were not able to take their lunches, she said that if my son needed one on one time like that it wouldn't work out because "that's why teachers quit, I should look into a smaller daycare." This was all very confusing to me because my sons teachers said he did wonderful and they were impressed by how verbal he was, they were shocked when I said Mrs. Jay wanted to offer time us part time. This was all on the first day, I explained to Mrs. Jay that I would not have enrolled my son if I knew she only wanted him part time due to me having to work and school. Instead of accommodating us, she started to get upset at the teachers and blaming them for the miscommunication. I decided to pull my son out of school after one day here because of Mrs. Jays Behavior. I'm very disappointed in my experience here. This school is short staffed on teachers, and that alone makes me uncomfortable leaving my son at this center. Miss Jay made me very uncomfortable and unwelcome. I feel very discriminated toward as young mother, Mrs. Jay was not understanding one bit and did not show me respect or kindness when speaking to me. I do want to say that the teachers here are amazing, they are so hands on with the kids, they're so sweet and you can tell they love what they do. Ms. Larissa and Mrs. P were so caring and loving with my son, my son did not want to leave the center he had so much fun, which is why I'm disappointed it didn't work out at this school. I am happy and content with the time that my son was at NECDC. He was enrolled for 1.5 years, and the only reason he left was because we moved to a different city. Otherwise I was planning on also enrolling my second son in the near future because we have been happy with this school. My son was very introverted, shy, not talking much (at age 2) before he started. But after only being there for a couple of months, we saw a dramatic difference and growth in his development, speech (he became a chatterbox! ), independence, and comfort in social interactions with others. He really liked waking up in the morning and looking forward to going to school. I was very hesitant about putting my child anywhere away from me as a first time mom initially, but I never had any reason to suspect or suspicion about anything bad and was comforted to know that my son actually looked forward to going there every day. Ms Jay, Ms. Amber, and the other teachers have been great and patient with my son. They were so kind, caring, and took their time with each child. If there was any staff that had to leave, Ms Jay was on top of it and would find a replacement quickly which I was happy about. I appreciated the curriculum the school had and the focus on play-based learning which my son seemed to enjoy alot. I also appreciated the teacher's efforts to encourage healthy foods and healthy lifestyle. They also helped with potty training which I was grateful for. We had a hard time potty training him at home, but with the school's help, he was able to train fully within 2 weeks! My son was actually very sad when he realized he would not be going to the school after we moved, and I'm grateful he learned to love school because of NECDC. We will definitely miss this school and are grateful for all that they have taught my son :) read more

Our daughter has attended Nature's Edge for almost three years now. Miss Jay runs a wonderful school, staffed with fantastic teachers. They've always communicated openly and appropriately. Through Covid they were so great. The setting is always clean and fun and educational for the kids. They do yoga on Thursdays and have Spanish classes. My daughter always speaks highly of the teachers and the friends she's made there. She is graduating now but we are so thankful that we found NE. I was hesitant to write this review because as a first time mom, I wasn't sure if the problems we encountered with this school were due to my child or the school itself. Now that it has been a few months since he attended and he's in a new preschool, I can confidently say that this school has a lot of room for improvement. My son only attended NECDC for 2 months, and since he only went twice a week he went for a total of 18 days before we pulled him out. He's a very slow to warm child so the adjustment was hard for him from day 1, that I don't fault the school for. What I do take issue with is the utter lack of communication from the school regarding my child's progress. In May they had sudden staffing changes where the teacher and the aid quit during the same 2 week timespan and with different people coming in and out to care for the children, naturally my son had a very rough time and became very attached to one caregiver. Instead of coming up with a plan to help my child go to other caregivers in a developmentally appropriate way, without any warning at all my husband came to pick him up and was told my son could not return the following day and could not attend the following week because the caregiver he became very attached to was going on vacation and that after that we would "reassess." There was never any attempt to remediate the problem with us, and never an attempt to sit down and come up with a plan to help my child get comfortable with the new caregivers. Essentially, they suspended a 2 year old without warning for being too clingy. We now know NECDC just wasn't the right fit for my child, which is fine, but some warning from the school that he wasn't doing well would have been appreciated, instead we were completely blindsided. My son is in his 3rd week at a new preschool now and the difference is night and day, everyone there has been handling his transition beautifully and we, the parents, have been kept up to date on how he's adjusting constantly . The staff is also so much more enthusiastic and seem to genuinely love and adore the kids. We don't feel that NECDC viewed our child the same way, it always felt like they just "tolerated" him. So all in all, if your child has been in a daycare setting before and warms up quickly, NECDC is probably fine, but if your child is more sensitive like mine and has never been in a childcare setting before, I would highly recommend you look elsewhere and find a preschool more well equipped to handle children who may have a little more difficulty with the transition. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for some time. I am exceptionally happy to have found this pre-school. We decided to pull my son from his last daycare after they hired a male teacher without our knowledge and we were not comfortable with him changing our son especially since our son was not potty trained or able to communicate yet . After an extensive search of daycares and preschools,calls and background checks Nature's Edge was one that impressed me the most. I love the fact that I no longer have to prep my son's food in the morning before work since meals are provided and that they help with potty training. We love Ms. Larissa, she is so patient and kind with our son and very attentive. What caught my attention and impressed me is how clean the premises are and how we were able to sit down with Ms Jay and Ms Larissa for the orientation to discuss our son's needs. I am one of the parents that loves to read the daily report sent home; how my son's day went ,what he learned, what he ate we really appreciate the time and effort that goes into writing these reports. Our son is very happy here and he has picked up immensely on his vocabulary and is a little chatter box. As a nurse and mother, cleanliness, and order are important and our family is so happy to have found this place. My son has been attending this facility for over 4 years. I enrolled him at 2 yrs old he was potty trained, he learned to talk and developed social skills within the first couple of months. I work full time so he was pretty much all day for 5 days but i was always at peace knowing he was in good hands and he has always been happy with all the teachers and his classmates. I definitely recommend this preschool to all parents who need someone to look after your child while learning and having fun. Ms Jay and all the staff has been great to us! Nature's Edge CDC has been a great part of our children's lives. I say children because we have two attending Nature's Edge. That's a testament to how much my wife and I feel about the place. I was a volunteer at NECDC while I was going to school, and it is a wonderful facility. Any parent should feel comfortable and safe taking their child here. The teachers love what they do and spend so much time thinking up fun and meaningful activities for the children to do. This is a play-based preschool so the children are constantly learning and having fun and not just sitting at desks learning the alphabet. There is ample outside time and the teachers believe that the outdoor environment is another extension of the classroom. They also do Spanish lessons and there's a yoga instructor that comes as well. The children are fed healthy, nutritious meals and are encouraged to try new things at meal times. Ms. Jay puts the safety and well-being of her teachers and the children above all else and you can tell just how much she loves working with children. I worked with Ms. Mariana and she too is a wonderful teacher who loves her students. They take Covid-19 precautions very seriously as well. If I had preschool aged children I would happily send them to this school and feel 100% safe in the knowledge that they were in good hands with any of the teachers here. read more

Since my son started attending here he has shared his personal experience to me enjoying every moment there is "fun, exciting, and happiness". He can't get enough from telling me stories about the staff always caring , helpful, loving towards him and every child there. The staff is the sweetest and have an excellent communication. My son has attended NECDC for a little over 3 years. I first enrolled him when he was 2 years old. At the time he was potty trained, however during nap time they had to put a pamper on him. I always thought it was pretty cool they took children who were not potty trained. I can say they actually accomplished him not needing a pamper during nap time any more within a few months. For this I was thankful. My son also struggled in a few areas when first starting that they actually helped him with. Over the years his behavior has changed and he speaks very well. I can say now that he is 5 years old and attends Lincoln Elementary school he was well prepared. From knowing all his letters (upper and lower case), numbers 1-10, all shapes to being helpful. We are very pleasure to write a review about NECDC. We were very worried about my kid because he was continuously sitting on the same place and watching TV. He was not playing in home and playground too. He didn't like to eat, to go out..... He was very timid. But after going to school he was totally changed/unbelievable changed and all are positive. Now he is eating nicely, playing nicely, talking nicely. Lots of improvement. I knew he changed because of NECDC teachers. I remember his first two days of school, it was horrible but after that it was magic. So specially thanks to Miss Maria and off-coarse all staff too. My daughter has been attending Nature's Edge for over 2 years. The Staff here is truly a special group; each and every teacher does an amazing job interacting with the kids and making them feel comfortable and supported. I always feel assured that my daughter is well-taken care of at Nature's Edge. I work full time and am so grateful for their flexible hours and peace of mind knowing my daughter is with loving teachers all day! They do lots of fun activities- artwork/arts and crafts, story time, soccer, theme/dress-up weeks, special holiday celebrations, nature walks, plenty of playtime outside, water days during the summer, music, etc. They make sure that all the kids are prepped and ready for kindergarten. My daughter has been at NECDC for the last few months and god am I amazed at how much she has learned. The teachers are beyond amazing! Both my kids have attended this pre school and we were really pleased with them. The teachers are really understanding and treat the kids very fair. They are really willing to address and overcome any challenges the kiddos face. One of the best things about this place is the diversity in the students and the staff.
