If you're looking for a preschool for your little one you've found it! The teachers and director have all been such great woman to both my kids. I have a 10 year old that was there when he was 4 up until he was able to go into regular kindergarten and my 2 almost 3 year old has been there since he turned 2. These ladies are great, they are patient, welcoming, encouraging and all around 2nd mommy's to my kids. I was so excited for my little one to get in there as soon as he was of age. I've been reluctant to write a review because then you'll know my secret, that Oak Tree is where your young one needs to be! I have two children that have been attending Oak Tree for nearly a year now and we have no intention of leaving until they age out. Beyond the fact that both my kids are flourishing academically and socially, the entire staff is uniquely talented. Without highlighting my girls specific teachers (whom I love), the whole staff is friendly and professional. From a thoughtful curriculum and food menus to karate, cultural discovery, alternate language learning including sign language and puzzles, painting, group projects, spelling exercises and dance lessons, they all have something special to offer and engage your child with. If I could give this place 6 stars I would. My baby girl started this school at the age of 2 and stayed until age 6 (kindergarten). ALL of the staff members are friendly and welcoming. Her teachers were very attentive, nurturing and caring. They're curriculum is amazing, they cover all the basis from science, math, social studies, art and life skills. They also learn about holidays, religions and current events. If you're like me you're probably into professional pics and this school hires the best photographers for their picture days (which is a few times out of the year) they had a cowboys/cowgirls theme and they actually brought a real pony! My son was attending here when he was younger. Never thought I'd see this place again until I had to enroll my grandbaby. (Her we go again) The experience is identical. The best care in Long Beach! I'd never trust anyone else with my baby girl. she is now coming home saying her alphabets clearly And her social skills are improving. so the curriculum is there. I was so excited to send my 2 year old son here. I explained thoroughly that he had never been to any kind of daycare or school before. He had never been socialized because the whole world was closed due to covid. The blonde woman was dismissive and rolled her eyes at me countless times as I explained this to her on the day of the virtual tour. The first day of school I dropped him off at 8am and they called me at 930am to come get him. She was telling all the things he did and I told her yes I told the blonde woman when I toured the facility and she just rolled her eyes at me. The director then explained that all parents say that about their kids. I just kept reminding the director that I explained all these things to the person I toured with and that it's not my fault of you're dismissive of important information. She refunded my entire fee for two weeks back to my account including the registration fee. This all happened due to the facilities lack of receptive communication with the parents of new students. They gave him no chance to come back the next day. They just showed me with every action and word that they didn't want to deal with us whatsoever. read more

Oak Tree Academy has been a huge part of my son's learning and social growth. When I first brought my son to OTA at the age of 2 1/2 he had a speech delay, was extremely shy and was not potty trained. The teachers all worked with my son and shortly after he started he was potty trained. The teachers and staff became family as well as the students. My son is now in Kindergarten and he performs and reads beyond a kindergarten level. Thanks to Ms. Erika, Ms. Katy, Ms. Emma, Ms. Sarai, Ms. Daisy and the other staff members for all of their patience, love and kindness to not just my son but to our family. Communicating with the school was above and beyond and they always took the time to explain or answer any questions. The students receive a true private school experience and at OTA I felt that my son was shielded from a lot of the negative influences that children are often exposed to in public schools. The one on one care and attention to my sons needs was a huge help. We were sad to leave OTA this school year but as my career path changed and the distance from West L.A. to Long Beach everyday was too much I decided to find something closer to home. However, I will say that for 2 1/2 years I drove my son to school to attend OTA being 18-20 miles away from my home which says a lot about the school especially in L.A. traffic!!!! Lol My son has made many great friends at OTA and we continue to keep in touch. All the teachers and staff were our favorite, but I would be remiss in not saying that Ms. Erika and Ms. Katy and Ms. Sarai hold a special place in our hearts. I am confident that my decision to place my son at OTA has set a great foundation for his academic and social path. I wish that there was a OTA on the Westside of town!! I hope new parents can experience the joys of Oak Tree Academy. My 2 girls have become quite the scholars at Oak Tree Preschool & Kindergarten. Our youngest started at age 2 and we are glad for the teachers at Oak Tree. Our girls have excelled in their first 5. We value the teachers, for providing kindness, dedication, and preparation. The school curriculum is proof that a consistent environment willingness to teach our kids, each child can achieve their full potential. As working parents, many can relate that it is difficult but not impossible to sit down with your kid and do homework after school. At Oak Wood, the teachers have made it possible that our kids can grab a book on their own accord and do homework with little supervision; our youngest completed PreK and is reading at 1st grade level (happy face-here). We relish the aspect that our kid is reading to us, as opposed to the other way around. It is a joy to see our girl doing so well and her happiness exudes. Our youngest, had temper tantrums and she was a bit emotional, but she has excelled before our eyes. She is eager to go to school, she is responsible and kind. She comes home sharing about her day, and everything she learned with her friends. As some of you know, having multiple children can sometimes be overwhelming and the youngest child can probably get away with a lot. Well, I am happy to share that my youngest has learned, not flaunt her embarrassing tantrums. She has also learned from her preschool teacher, "You get what you get, and you don't throw a fit"; I am glad of her accomplishments, her tantrums are Nonexistent. My soon to be 2nd grader still has fond memories of Ms. Nansi and Ms. Katie (Kindergarten) she thinks of them often when we drive pass the school (she wishes to return to "fun" summer school at OWA). Ms. Daysi and Ms. Sari (Preschool) are kind and patient, yet stern; our youngest made leap and bounds because their structure. I am blessed to have all these great women in our lives. They have made our life much less worrisome. The first 5 years are super important to a child's development and the teachers at Oak Wood are superb at their trait. I owe them a great deal of gratitude. My grandmother taught me life stories at a young age; if she were alive, she would be happy her great-grand kids are doing excellent. Thank You Ms.Erica, for leading the way; the school has a great Unit, the teachers make things seem easy, when they are not. The structure of the school is well explained and transparent. The monthly bulletins, help me schedule things much more efficiently. The coming school year 21/22 will be our last year at OWA (Kindergarten here we come!) We transferred my son to Oak Tree after having a negative experience at a different school and Ms. Erica and all the staff were extremely welcoming and accommodating from the start. He instantly loved it and to this day I credit Ms. Erica for his love of broccoli and teriyaki chicken. He also developed a great bond with Ms. Sary and Ms. Katy, and even though he's in elementary school, he always asks to go back. Once my daughter turned two, we didn't even hesitate to enroll her. She took to Ms. Deysi right away, which was a miracle since she was always so attached to me. She's so happy to there and has learned so much. I've always felt so at ease when my kids are there. It's like leaving them with family. I honestly don't know how I'm going to cope once they have to move on. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

Yesterday was my three and a half years old daughter's first day of school at Oak Tree. We visited the school prior to enrolling her and of the three (3) schools we interviewed, THIS one was the one she seemed to like the most. Her registration fee and tuition was paid and we were set to go. She could've been brought as early as 6 a.m., however, I took her in around 9:35 a.m., just after feeding her breakfast. The children were all outside playing and my daughter joined them. I spoke with Erica ("the director") briefly about what the day for the children would be like and then asked her who would be my baby's teacher. She told me Ms. Emma, so I went and spoke longer with her. I informed Ms. Emma that my child has not been in daycare in a while so this will be "new" for her and that she would need patience at times because my child isn't used to the rules of a school; meaning when playtime is over you "line up", go back into class, sit down and get back to reading or whatever they are assigned/asked to do. She said she understood. When I saw the baby had no problem joining in with the other children and wasn't bothered by me leaving, I went to work.... I arrived back at the school around 5 p.m. and she greeted me with a big hug. Some of the other children ran up to me and gave me a hugs too. I then went over to Ms. Emma and asked how the day had gone with my child and she said 'fine', NEVER mentioning ONE ISSUE. When we got in the car my child told me how her day had went and that a little girl had hit and kicked her. I immediately called the school and spoke with Ms. Emma, who informed me she was not present at the time of the incident, but would have me speak with a woman named Rene the following day (6.28.2016). I said "ok" and hung up the phone. As we proceeded to drive home she told me MORE about her day at Oak Tree and how the teacher (unidentified at the time) had YELLED at her and how some "policeman"had threatened to remove the bow from her hair. At that point, I turned my car around and went to the school to speak with Ms. Emma, because the more the story evolved the more DISTURBED I became and I wanted answers immediately. How did it go from "fine" to all this?? I went back to the school and asked Ms. Emma to join me in an empty room where we could talk about what my child told me (while my child was present). But before we went into the room I saw my daughter go to the girl that had hit and kicked her and told her "don't hit me again.", then she swatted at the girl. I called my daughter over to me and we all went into the room for a chat. Again, she talked about how this little girl had hit her (which Ms. Emma claimed to know nothing about) and then she talked about the teacher that had yelled at her. When I asked her to identify the teacher, she pointed straight at Ms. EMMA and said "you did it"! Ms. Emma tried to downplay her reaction to what my child had done, by explaining to me that she was simply telling my child to "STOP" doing whatever it was she was doing. Yeah, ok, but you yelled, just admit it. Then I asked her about this "policeman" and she said no there was no policeman here. I then asked was there a man on the premises currently and she said "no". However, I had seen a man on the grounds when I walked in, so right there I knew she was lying. Ironically enough, no sooner had she finally acknowledged a man's presence on the grounds, he walked into the room we were in wearing a shirt with labels on it that would imply to a little baby that he was a man of some type of authority. Not to forget, I don't know if he said something to my child that may have implied he was some type of authority figure. After I got a bit of clarification regarding these multiple incidents, I left with the intent to go back today (6.28.2016) and speak with Rene to get clarification of the physical assault on my child, as well as, how the incident escalated between these two children with no ADULT intervention. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to do that because my other daughter got a call this morning from Erica telling her that our child was no longer "welcome" at her school. So, hold on....our child is assaulted at the school and NO ONE intervened (to my knowledge)? The teacher(s) YELLED at our child and NO ONE disciplined the teacher(s)? I understand children, especially mine, can be a handful. But when I hear a "trained professional" with years of teaching experience under her/their belt(s), don't/doesn't have enough SENSE to speak calmly to my child and explain WHY she can't or shouldn't do something, that is MOST DISTURBING to me. It doesn't appear to me that my child's newness to the school, her anxiety of being in a different environment, her re-introduction to "school rules and routine", NOTHING was taken into consideration when they were interacting with her. I would NOT recommend this school. read more

My daughter has been here for two years now. She's really thriving. She's definitely a handful but the teachers are very patient with her. We did have an issue with a teacher that just wasn't a good fit for her and they changed her class to better suit her personality. They offer extra classes ($10 a week) for things like karate, piano, cooking, dance, etc. my daughter just loves her dance class. Field trips in summer are also great for my child. She really enjoys riding the bus with her friends to go to new places. Will be a sad day when it's time for her to move on into public school next year. read more

This school is great and my oldest child went here it taught him so much at young tender age of 2 he went on to be a straight A student through Elementary and Middle School and his first year of high school and he's doing great and I owe it all to Oak Tree and of course my parenting as well but this is where he started and it's a great school and now my two-year-old daughter is going there as well and she's also smart and on her way and she loves the school director ms Ericka her teacher ms daisy and also ms Katy so much and i no she's in great hands keep up the good work guys and I recommend anybody that's looking for a good school and your kid is 2to5 years old you should bring them here read more

My little one has been attending for about a year now. He goes 5 days a week for most of the day while I work. I have been extremely happy with all of his teachers and with the program they offer here. I've sat in on class time, meal times and play time to watch my child interact and I am always happy with what I see. My son has so many friends here and he loves his teachers. They are always keeping me up to date on his progress and share with me when he needs help with things. The facility is clean, friendly and organized. I highly recommend them. read more

My Daughter has been Attending Oak Tree Since She Turned 2yrs, and I have not experience any of that kind of behavior that the other Two Reviewers Mention. My Daughter First Teacher was Ms.Gema who I had spoke with several times about how my daughter went and how her progress was going in her class. And when I would pick my child up Ms.Gema always told me how my daughter Was Doing. This school has had a wonderful impact on my daughter she can Say her Numbers and Colors in Both English and Spanish Every time I got to pick my daughter up from school it's always clean and well kept. The Teachers and Director is very informative about what's going on at school and what illness that a child might have they make sure they post Alerts on the Parent Information board and on the door so that parents are made aware of what illness that another Child Might of had. In regards to the other Reviewer stating that her child had the Hand Foot Mouth illness that something that a child will get through out there life and yes Children do get sick but that doesn't not mean they got it from school. All the time And I was made Aware of that illness like any other parent was. My Daughter is very vocal about everything and I have never heard her say anything about a Teacher Yelling at her or using inappropriate Tone with Her however every family will have a different experience with whatever school they choose for their child My experience has been Wonderful and I know that there is a lot of great things in store for my Daughter at Oaktree I have seen her grow so much at this school and developed into an Avid Learner Who Looks forward to going to School every day Two Bad Apples will not Ruin how my child feel about this School and the ladies that I have trusted to take care and nurture my Daughter while I'm at work. Unfortunately my experience here was my first attempt at school with my 3 year old and it was not a good one. I am thoroughly convinced they gave my child cows milk when I asked them not to, I had never seen my child throw up and sick so often as I had when he was attending this school for the two months that he did. He attended from April - June. They repeatedly called me almost every day complaining about every thing he did - despite repeatedly telling me upon enrollment that they are "patient" with first timers. Everyday I was supposed to be able to have a peace of mind I'm getting calls at work from this school over the pettiest of things. At what point do you do the job you are supposed to be trained to do as a teacher isn't that the whole reason why you chose this career path? Don't you have to have years of schooling or at minimum some kind of certification to work at a preschool? The only person who seemed like they enjoyed working there and cared about the kids is the youngest one, Ms Daisy. I believe she has the 2 year olds. The rest of the staff are mundane, and tired of working. Make no mistake I don't think these ladies would ever harm any child however they are just there at this point to follow the rules and keep your child safe. Most definitely gives off just a job vibes. And it has a funny smell when you walk in. My kid wasn't easy but maybe it's because he didn't like the energy and i finally caught on. Extremely caring and attentive staff. During my tour, all of my concerns were put to ease and that's what led me to choose this school. I saw the children interact with teachers and other children. The kids were busy learning- not just from books but were outside learning about nature! The teachers gave a lot of undivided attention to the kids. I felt safe leaving my child here. read more

Toured this school with hopes of sending my son there. I was extremely impressed by the cleanliness and organization. All the teachers and staff I encountered were friendly and informative. I was happy to see that in each class the children were all engaged in some sort of activity. It wasn't like a room full of unruly bored children. Every employee was serving a purpose and did it dutifully with a smile and pleasant demeanor. Not an easy task when dealing with multiple children and personalities. I was given all the information I needed to make a decision. I had 100% decided to pick this school out of the three I had visited, unfortunately my husbands job has us moving out of the area. But given the opportunity to move back this school is on the top of my list. read more

My son is going to Oak Tree academy for last 2 years. we visited school before enrolling him and he loved on very first day. Ms. Erika and her staff is really nice. I noticed improvement in my child communication skills and reading skills. Last year we had an option to switch school but decided to stay in same school. this is how good the school and their teachers are. all the teachers are really caring and pay attention to every single kid. the classrooms are clean and has a big outside play area. My son,now 17 attended Oaktree from the time he was 2 until he turned 5. It was a fabulous school then and it still most definitely is today. I currently have my daughter enrolled,and she has been going to this school for 2 years now. Nothing has changed over the past 15 years at Oaktree. All of the teachers are very accommodating to the different learning styles of each individual child. I feel,this method helps each child be at their best and shine. This is a very loving and nurturing environment for all of the kids who attend. I love the student/teacher ratios. I appreciate the to detail that each of the lady's working at Oaktree gives to every situation. Ms. Gema is a fantastic teacher who just so happens to be one of the most patient people I know. She is loving and kind but will not tolerate a child acting out or disrupting the rest of the class. I know this because my daughter has acted out on many of occasions and I appreciate Ms. Gema for not only informing me but also talking with my daughter. It is really unfortunate that the previous 2 reviewers had such an "aweful" experience. There is no perfect school out there and if a perfect school is all you will except,welll you 2 have your life's work cut out for you. Kids will be kids and unfortunately,they get sick. Over and over and over again. They do not wash their hands when they need to,they wipe their noses on the sleeve of their shirts,I'm sure you get the idea. Kids also bicker or fight if you will. That does not make the school automatically unsatisfactory and a bad school. It simply means there happens to be 2 or more children that butt heads and extra care in separating them needs to take place. Seriously,not a big deal. Unfortunately, I did not have the same experience as the previous reviewer. I had thoroughly vetted the school and sat in on the classes but did not see any hint of anything unsanitary. At first glance the school seems perfect. However, my child was sick every weekend after attending this preschool. At first I thought she had picked up Hand Foot and Mouth disease from somewhere else, but she had not been anywhere else but school and home. She was sick so often that I would have had to have been a fool to keep sending her to that place. In addition, nearly the entire 3 months she was there I was sick too. Until the final straw where I too got Hand Foot & and Mouth disease and could barely walk for several days. Upon further investigation the staff had admitted to having hand foot and mouth disease but had supposedly gotten rid of it. Ummm....I don't think so. In addition to the school not being clean enough, they allowed the children to fight while they sat back and watched the show. Several times the other children had taken my daughters shoes and scratched her face. Seeing that this was the first preschool I ever put my child in I am disgusted to see the quality. Also, they talk of an advance curriculum in their brochure but were teaching the children very little if anything at all. My child knew more about Disney movies and TV shows rather than scholastic information. I often came to pick her up early only to find that all of the other children were laying down for nap time an hour earlier than designated. I could not advise any parent to put their child in this school. read more
