Nicole the hygienist carefully and throughly cleans my teeth and take my X-rays. She makes sure that she reviews my chart before she sees me. She also educates me on how to properly clean my teeth. She has been my hygienist for a year and one half. I am impressed because the another dentist office where I was a patient a high turnover of hygienists. Dr. Macari competently and professionally examines my teeth. He also has an excellent memory. Today he remembered when I came in several months ago on an emergency appointment for symptoms of teeth sensitivity. He recalled determining that the charcoal toothpaste that I was using was causing my teeth to hurt when in coming into contact with cold liquids. He also has been my dentist for a year and one half. Both Nicole and Dr. Macari emphasize the importance of frequent flossing and twice-yearly checkups. I usually have no tartar on my teeth, so I have never needed any major dental work. The negative thing is that the office no longer automatically gives out a complimentary package of toothpaste, toothbrush and floss. Patients must ask for them due to COVID-19 guidelines. All patients must wear masks in the waiting room. Wait times are usually no more than five minutes. I highly recommend Sachem Dental. They are so professional.

My fear at the dentist also includes the dreaded cleaning. I have super sensitive teeth and the hygienist went out of her way to make sure I was not uncomfortable in any way. Cleaning and X-rays complete! Unfortunately the worst news followed - root canal. Took me a few weeks to be bold enough to return, but I did. Scared was an understatement!! I was constantly reminded that that I should not be in any pain and the dentist continually made sure that indeed I was comfortable. After a total of 5 visits my root canal is complete and I can not be more grateful for the outstanding service I received. I may not enjoy going, but at least I know moving forward that I finally have a great dental office to which I need not fear. I had an appointment in mid-2000 that had to rescheduled because of COVID-19. No problem. When I was able to have an appointment, it was the end of October 2020 and we schedule an appointment for Tuesday March 23, 2021. Here is the annoying part - I received four confirmations through email and text messages staring a week ago. I called the office last week to confirm because I travel during the week. Today I receive a call that they have to reschedule because the hygienist will be out and next available is the end of July! This is unacceptable. The receptionist said to me, "It is because we only have one hygienist." This is not my issue. I hope the owner or manager reads this because other patients will. You over-confirm and then cancel!

The woman (I forget her name and job title, regrettably) who did my cleaning and X-rays was just a saint!! She went out of her way to calm me down and make me feel comfortable, gave helpful and encouraging advice, and just showed genuine compassion and understanding. The best part was the cleaning itself. Literally every single time I have told new dentists I have sensitive teeth. Still every single time the cleanings were downright torturous. But not here!!! I told her I had sensitive teeth, so she went out of her way to make sure it wouldn't hurt! I didn't feel a thing, except that awesome clean feeling afterward. I came across Dr. Eric Baum and he was one of few who called me back and promptly. He scheduled me for that evening 815pm. I was under alot of stress from no sleep and intense pain. Dr. Baum was kind frirndly and extremely knowledgeable. He was very thorough in his examination and took the time to explain very clearly what was going on. Then he gave me my options and explained in detail. We went forward with the procedures. I had a bridge cut out and tooth extracted. I felt nothing while he did it and was pain free . This Lake Ronkonkoma location is my new dentist spot and it fills in all the holes (pun intended) for what I need. Well, first it fit the bill for my wife as she was having some mouth pain and we didn't want to go all the way to New Hyde Park (where I used to live and my old dental location) to figure things out when SDG was right up the road from where we now live. Her experience was pretty positive and so we migrated our biannual checkups to this Hawkins Ave building. My first personal experience came a few weeks back where I had a mid morning appointment which I got to ahead of when it was scheduled and they took me just a smidge past my appointment time. While waiting, I overheard the people working at the front desk and they seemed friendly to other patients. The waiting area was also cutely decorated from the Fall along with some funny dental jokes written out in a few spots. I can vibe with this. Once getting called, the hygienist was nice enough as she cleaned through my teeth and didn't reprimand me for my semi-delayed trip to the dentist (a bit over a year, sorry). We took some X-rays too which took a little time as she was having a little difficulty with the machine, but she was apologetic and helpful during this. Back in the room, the dentist came in and looked through my X-rays and mouth to see that there weren't many issues to be seen. He was in and out pretty quickly which felt kind of fast, but he still seemed nice in that short interaction and honestly it's probably better that he wasn't in there for very long! I set up my next appointment for six months from now (the hours that SDG are open are pretty good) and I was on my way. Overall, Sachem Dental Group of Lake Ronkonkoma is a formidable spot for your dentist needs. It has a clean interior, nice enough staff, and generally smooth interactions during dental visits (my wife went the same day and her experience was positive too) to definitely keep this place as my dentist going forward.
