Ahhhh....such great memories of this place. My parents have owned a cottage in Gladwin for over 20…read moreyears. We've been coming to the Corner House for a long time. This unique ice cream parlor has a large deck outside to sit and enjoy the tasty treats being served up inside. Once you're inside, you can peruse the many, many different flavors of ice cream. Every time I come here (maybe 5 or 6 times per summer) I purchase myself a delightful single scoop (which is more like 3 heaping scoops) waffle cone. Their waffle cones are stupendous! My favorite flavor has got to be the blueberry waffle cone. It's vanilla ice cream with blueberries and waffle cone pieces mixed in. Fantastic. I was at the Corner House on 6/1/13...still awesome. The staff are very friendly and patient...I simply cannot decide...that's why I always get the same thing. The last time I was there, I had the girl behind the counter mix me up a delicious vanilla and orange sherbet shake. I was amazed at how large it was. It tasted great as well. If you're up for the challenge, there's also the Pig's Platter. I have never attempted this, but the Pig's Platter consists of 2 bananas, 5 large scoops of ice cream and 5 toppings. Whipped cream and nuts are optional. If you take it all down, you get your name on the wall. Some have done it multiple times in a day. Remember: just cash or check at this establishment. But if you're in Gladwin, a lot of small businesses are usually limited to cash or check.

The muffins and cupcakes were some of the best I've ever had. They were super moist and flavorful, and if I lived here in town, I would pick these treats up regularly. My favorite was the pineapple upside-down muffin; the carrot cake was equally impressive! My favorite drink is the matcha latte. I get it with oat milk and add sugar for a great mid-day pick-me-up! They have plenty of space to study/work or hang out over coffee. The staff was welcoming and friendly! I'll be back next year for sure!

There are a few tables inside for seating. One half of the store is the coffee shop & bakery and the other half is an eclectic gift shop. There were loads of baked goods to choose from with both sweet & savory options along with an extensive coffee menu. I got a cappuccino which was just okay but the Korean milk donut was great! Not too sweet and perfect with a morning coffee. The staff were all super friendly and it was fun to look around the gift shop afterwards.

If you don't know what Whole Foods means.....read on......Many people don't know what Whole Foods means. So here is the definition from the internet: The earliest use of the term in the post-industrial age appears to be in 1946 in The Farmer, a quarterly magazine published and edited from his farm by F. Newman Turner, a writer and pioneering organic farmer. The magazine sponsored the establishment of the Producer Consumer Whole Food Society Ltd, with Newman Turner as president and Derek Randal as vice-president.[4] Whole food was defined as "mature produce of field, orchard, or garden without subtraction, addition, or alteration grown from seed without chemical dressing, in fertile soil manured solely with animal and vegetable wastes, and composts therefrom, and ground, raw rock and without chemical manures, sprays, or insecticides," having intent to connect suppliers and the growing public demand for such food.[4] Such diets are rich in whole and unrefined foods, like whole grains, dark green and yellow/orange-fleshed vegetables and fruits, legumes, nuts and seeds.[1] Whole foods are plant foods that are unprocessed and unrefined, or processed and refined as little as possible, before being consumed.[1] Examples of whole foods include whole grains, tubers, legumes, fruits, vegetables.[2] There is some confusion over the usage of the term surrounding the inclusion of certain foods, in particular animal foods. The modern usage of the term whole foods diet is now widely synonymous with "whole foods plant based diet" with animal products, oil and salt no longer constituting whole foods.[3]
