The activity associated with this property has contributed to a growing sense of insecurity in the neighborhood, with concerns involving suspected drug-related activity, individuals congregating around the property, discarded used needles in the alley, and the theft of residents' personal property. These are not minor inconveniences. They are legitimate public safety concerns that affect the quality of life, security, and peace of mind of the people who live here.
Residents should not have to worry about encountering hazardous drug paraphernalia in their own alleyways, having their belongings stolen, or feeling unsafe in their own neighborhood. No community should be expected to accept these conditions as normal, and the neighbors surrounding your property should not have to bear the consequences of an ongoing situation that demands attention.
As the owner of this property, you have a responsibility to take these concerns seriously and to make a meaningful effort to address the conditions associated with your rental. Property ownership comes with responsibilities that extend beyond collecting rent. It requires attention to the impact a property and its occupants may have on the surrounding community.
It is particularly disappointing that, as the owner of a wellness spa, a business presumably associated with well-being, safety, and care for others, you would allow a situation at your rental property to persist that appears to undermine those very principles. If meaningful action is not taken, the next step will be to escalate these concerns to the appropriate authorities, including Indianapolis code enforcement, public health officials, and law enforcement, as applicable. I am also prepared to pursue further legal remedies and seek guidance from legal counsel regarding the appropriate court or jurisdiction if the circumstances warrant it.
Please understand that this is a serious matter. The neighborhood deserves a safe and healthy environment, and residents should not have to repeatedly tolerate conditions that threaten their safety and well-being simply because the property owner has failed to intervene.
