Such a nice spot to browse. Friendly, knowledgeable, and a great mix of crystals, jewelry, and fossils. Found a few pieces I really love.

Ok. Oh, how I miss…read moregoing to shops IRL. I adore exploring all the diverse stores that live in downtown Iowa City. There's a little bit of something for everyone. This women-owned biz is no exception. I became of a fan of Heim from afar. Allison Fretheim is pretty hilarious on Instagram. She's relatable, silly, and unapologetically herself. (Plus, her dog is totes the cutest.) Heim is a wonderfully curated shop of her stunning mystical ceramics along with her favorite spiritual goods. Crystals, incense, tarot cards, candles, spell kits... so much witchy awesomeness... AND home decor. On Day 45 of social distancing I had exasperated my rescue pup search, knowing I darn well couldn't bring another four legged family member home. So I opted for the next best thing-- a cat! Ok, helllllz no. Just kidding. I decided on a PLANT(s). And Heim has some wonderful leafy companions to choose from. I opted for a Baby ZZ (sunlight is optional, low maintenance) and a cuuuuuute air plant. I went on the website, purchased via Apple Pay. Easy peasy. And guess what friends?! Free delivery in IC. I ordered at 730AM and it was delivered less than ten hours later. Boom. Heim is the epitome of a labor of love. It's uniquely a perfect spot to peruse for a gift locally. Conveniently located in the ped mall, near a parking ramp. (First hour free!) Shop intentionally. Local. Eco-friendly. Women-owned. Small biz. Hand made. Look no further than Heim!

Fairfield's stone, crystal, and gem dealer! This is a cool…read moreshop right on the Fairfield town square! It's a neat Native American store with lots of stuff from lots of tribes across the Midwest and Southwest. I'm originally from New Mexico, so I could recognize a lot of the Navajo and Hopi designs that they had around the store. They carried a lot of drums, dream catchers, and other tribal goods. When I went, there was a guy shopping for drums, and I was impressed to see their selection of tribal drums that they had to offer the guy! The offer lots in the way of stones. The shop has even made little placards that explain the healing powers of each stone. If you have certain maladies, you can get a crystal to put on your chakras to alleviate the problem. The selection is amazing. Whatever your problem is, they have a beautiful stone to cure it. Even if you're not into the stones as a healing mindset, it's still a really cool rock shop with beautiful specimens of lots of wonderful stones at quite reasonable prices, and so what if they'll also cure your migraines! They also have incense, smudges, and herbs. Parking can be a bit challenging, since it's right on the busy square. They have a friendly little dog that'll greet you at the door, he's cute!

I was blessed to meet Ed and Judi Fox and their "little girls" Heyoka and Tate last year. The love,…read moreintegrity and knowledge they possess on Native American lineage makes me want to sit at their feet and listen to the Lakota history explained by their storytelling skills for hours at a time. Plus there is no place better to receive love, hugs and lickies than from the two "little girls." Every time I enter the store I find "gems" for my heart and soul. Don't just go in to browse; go in to be regaled with the past, present and future of a culture. In case you can't tell. I love this family. Shellagh
