It's at…read morethe southern end of the main park road, and you pass by multiple viewpoints and pullouts on the way there. I recommend driving first to Rainbow Point and if interested, hiking one of the hikes there (there are three: 1.0 mi Bristlecone Loop, 8.8 mi Riggs Spring Loop and 23 mi Under-the-Rim Trail), and then traveling back to the center of the park and looking at the views on the way down. It can get crowded at the parking lot, so try to beat the crowds by going early. If you time it to be early morning with sunrise, the colors pop out even more! You can easily see why it's called Rainbow Point. There are vault toilets and benches here, but no running water. Plan accordingly

It's also one of the highest viewpoints within the park at over 8,800 feet of elevation. Getting there is easy and doesn't require any kind of additional hiking or trekking. You just have to make the drive there from the visitor's center. However, if you're already planning on taking a scenic drive through the park, then it should be easy to hit on your way to or from Rainbow Point since you'll already be passing it by. The views are truly beautiful and feature some very unique hoodoo formations. Parking is super easy and you can literally pull into a parking space right from the road. Would recommend this quick stop on your scenic drive through Bryce Canyon National Park.

This review is for Bartizan Arch Trail which was a ~5 miles round trip that took ~3 hours to…read morecomplete. This was a surprisingly unique and stunning hike near Cedar City, Utah. While most of southern Utah was over 90°F; the temperature in this area was easily ~30° lower! Within the first ~1 mile to Spectra Point were amazing views of the canyon. This reminds me of Bryce Canyon National Park except you can't walk into the canyon. For the most part, the declines start after Spectra Point towards Bartizan Arch. As a result, the inclines back out can feel a bit strenuous. The trail was on the exposed rims of the canyon as well as parts of the nearby forest. Furthermore, the trail was slightly rocky and becomes narrower near the arch. Watch your steps! For those looking for a shorter hike; I would recommend going up to Spectra Point which would be a ~1.9 mile roundtrip. In my opinion, the view at Ramparts Viewpoint wasn't too much of a difference compared to the view at Spectra Point Viewpoint. Even if you didn't know about Thor's Hammer, you will easily notice one hoodoo not like the others…read more I had the opportunity to view Thor's Hammer from Sunset Point (from the paved area), and also closer by taking Navajo Loop (a more strenuous hike). Very distinctive! I did the the Figure-8 Combination hike, which combines three amphitheater hikes, Queen's Garden, Navajo Loop, and the Peekaboo Loop. The NPS recommends to do the hike in a clockwise direction due to the elevation slope at the end of the hike, but I wanted to be contrarian haha. It wasn't bad! I liked how there were some tunnels going through some of the hoodoos, and there were various parts of the trail in the shade and in the sun just by going around the rock formations. Be aware that horses and mules on the Peekaboo Loop and should give the right-of-way to these riders. I didn't see any, but I definitely smelled and saw their leavings. Do note that there's no water on the trail, and seasonal pit toilets on Peekaboo Loop, but otherwise no restrooms.

This place showcases trees (pine and fir) growing amongst the hoodoos, which is something that doesn't really occur in the other areas of the park. Unique neat view! There are no toilets or other services at this stop, but it's so quick that I wouldn't expect it to. If you need to use the washroom, hold it to Rainbow Point or to the visitor center!

However, they do offer slightly different vantage points of the canyon. You can see directly down into "the silent city" from here and get a distant view of Thor's hammer (famous rock formation). This is also a starting point for some of the best hikes in the park, eg if you do the Wall Street/Navajo loop to Queen's garden (counter clockwise loop).

Our cabin was like 10 minutes away from one of the ponds which was semi-frozen. The duck Creek Village had a few good size Ace Hardware that's sold groceries, there was also a gas station, coffee shop, and I did see a pizza place all within walking distance. I most definitely will be back during one of the other season.

You turn off at Cedar City and then have about a 50 minute drive up a mountain that is very steep and scary. I hate driving so close to the edge, I white knuckled it all the way up! I definitely would not want to drive this at night! Duck Creek Village is near Cedar Breaks National Monument and Brian Head. It is in the Dixie National Forest. The temperature the third week of June was roughly around 68-70 during the day, but at night it drops to 40 degrees! You need pants and long sleeve shirts! It is near Lake Navajo and it is so beautiful and peaceful up here! You will see deer, chipmunks, and lots of birds! I noticed there were places where you could rent ATVs. There was also a place to go horseback riding. You have to get your food in Cedar City and there is a Walmart you should stop at BEFORE going up the mountain. Try to get everything that you need before you go up, because once you are at the cabin, you won't really want to leave! FYI there is very little reception on the mountain, so unless your cabin has Wi-fi, you will be out of touch with everyone!
