I saw Keesen's reviews here and on other sites and decided to try them out. Al, the owner, came out and listened to my concerns and checked the system. He immediately felt it was a water pressure issue. After checking the pressure and confirming it was low, he came into the house and increased it. He also recommended that I change two nozzles for better coverage. While doing that work, he also straightened out a head that was leaning back badly. After these repairs, the system operated better than ever and I could tell that I had a final solution to my brown spotted lawn. Here's the kicker. After spending 40 minutes here and doing all that work, I asked him what I owed him. His answer - "Ah, it was only a couple nozzles. I can't really charge you anything for that." Needless to say, I was floored. I know the parts are cheap, but he spent a lot of time here and time is worth money. It goes without saying that Keesen will be the only company I use for start up/shutdowns or any other sprinkler system issue going forward. I would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a good guy to do business with. read more

Paid over 300 for sprinkler to be turned on and checked in summer and shut off at end of year. Guy showed up turned on water then did nothing no adjustment just left. I go to turn on water to check heads and nothing I check valves nothing. Call up company and ask why then said we will sent someone in a couple weeks. CANCELED EVERYTHING WITH THEM HORRIBLE SERVICE. Total waste of money. I signed up for the lawn maintenance program; the kid came out and half asses the aeration... barely put any seed down, and he was supposed to spray for weeds too. I had to ask him if he sprayed and then he did a super half assed job on that too; completely skipping my backyard. I was on a conference call and could not babysit this guy while he was working. Shame on me for that. I had this same company come out to quote me to fix my sprinkler service prior to seeing this pathetic work quality. I probably would've hired the sprinkler guy but this kid did such a bad job I decided to look elsewhere. Got the same work done on my sprinkler for a THIRD of the cost they quoted me. The final and last straw, I had their landscaping company come out to quote my front yard. It took 3 weeks to get the quote back after I had to call to follow up on it. I was told they would be out there June 1st once I approved the work. I only approved one portion of the work now all the sudden they can't guarantee me a date of when they can complete the work. I wasted a full month and a half of spring dealing with all three entities of this company that HIDE under the name of WESTON. ALL SERVICES CANCELLED over the phone and they refused to give me any kind of cancellation email of proof. So if they dare to charge my credit card, I will be using this review as proof. I am so sick of these companies!!! Can't there be one easy transaction with these type of people!? Why does this have to be so difficult!!! Just do your job. Claimed I signed up for a a yearly contract I didn't sign up for. Has refused to repay me the 360. that they charged me. Crap service and worse customer service. Will be taking them to court to cover the 360 plus cost. read more

Charlie was a nice guy but missed spraying the whole west side of our home. I don't know if it's because it was the opposite side of the gate but both the front and back were missed. For the price we're paying are paying I expect it all be sprayed. If not I'd expect some type of discount. read more

I have done business with this company for 30 or so years. Back when they were Shaffer sprinklers that installed my system. Over the years, they made additions to the system for drip system and made changes for a new deck. It was 30yrs before any big work had to be done on the system. They just replaced the controller and as I said the old one lasted 30 years. Longer than most anything I own. Simon was our latest technician. He was very professional, well trained and experienced. Nationscapes will be sure to disrespect you & disregard any of your concerns even when it comes to the safety of your family and pets. I was very optimistic about this company and unfortunately had a number of bad experiences (too many to list). I received a sprinkler and sod installation in October of 2020. To this day I am still having issues with the services Nationscapes provided and had to hire another company to fix the chronic issues- which they kindly and professionally repaired. The owner, Nate, cannot take constructive criticism and lashes out at customers when they voice concerns. Please read his astonishing responses to any negative customer reviews (including the one I am bound to receive). Why does Nationscapes have so many great Google reviews? Let me tell you- once a technician completes the service, the customer receives an email urging them to write a review as a portion of the technician's salary is dependent on receiving a positive review. Clever, eh? The technicians are overall nice, although they lack leadership and communication from their managers (I often had to inform them what services they were performing). I will say the two positives that came from this experience is that I was refunded a portion of the job that I was able to use to repair Nationscapes poor quality installation, and I now use this experience to teach the students in my leadership class how not to treat their customers. We often read the way the owner, Nate, responds to customer concerns and evaluate how a true leader should respond to such a situation. This company purchased Schaefer and it is horrible. Nicole is rude and so is the other woman who takes calls. They are more expensive with an eighth of the customer service on the phone. I left a message about needing service and received an email confirmation with an appointment time. No one ever showed. Then o was told Because I didn't call to confirm they cancelled my appointment even though I had an email confirming. This is my second horrible experience with the new company. The Schafer techs are great though. read more

Plus, they make it easy to do business with them; they've been very responsive when I've reached out with questions, and they send automated email/text reminders when an appointment is coming up, including a picture of who will be visiting (so you know who to look for). Very shady and rude customer service. Bob came out to activate my sprinkler system that I prepaid for. However, at the end of his service call, he informs me that he had to spend an additional two hours making repairs for an additional charge of $479. He knew that I was at home, but he never had the courtesy to knock on the door to explain his finding and get authorization to make these costly repairs. In addition, he informed me that I needed many other extensive repairs, but it would be best to just replace my system. However, he said he would not send me his findings in a report. Tom, his supervisor, was pretty nonchalant about the matter, but agreed to send me the report. He said he would reduce my bill and help me with future needs. I told him that I didn't want a discount as I would have been fine with paying for authorized services. However, I don't feel any trust in how they operate for them to come back. After additional requests, I finally received the invoice for which they had already automatically charged my credit card. It listed two additional hours and some parts totally an additonal $479. However, I still am unclear of what they fixed. I am not questioning their work, just their ethics. With the many conversations I had with different staff members, I feel it's the company's culture. read more

Here is the review that I provided to Angi's List: I wanted you to know that NationScapes, which you provided 5 stars, is a bad company, I guess you didn't read the bad reviews because I left one in Yelp, (as others have done) last year or the year before.  They are rude, disrespectful, inconsiderate customer service employees, etc. They purchased Schaefer Lawn Sprinklers Inc. a couple years ago. Schaefer installed two sprinkler systems for me and provided serviced for more than 20 years. They were the best.  Unfortunately, the new owner NationalScapes doesn't come close to the service that Schaefer provided. It would be a mistake if anyone would use them for any service that they might provide. You should take the time to read the numerous bad reviews on Yelp so that you have a broader spectrum of the kind of company they are. read more

NationScape came highly recommended by our fence company. We were told they are "the best in town." We were looking to optimize our irrigation system as well as better understand our system before laying down the posts for our fence. The staff at NationScape was super helpful to when I first called them to set up an appointment. Luke Dye was the technician who came out. We can't say enough good things about him. He was friendly and personable. Luke was also super knowledgeable and patient about explaining things to us. He was very detailed and thorough and made some great recommendations as well. Overpriced beyond belief. Before you book a service understand their charges and compare. We got charged $600 for a sprinkler turn on and having a few heads fixed. Now I know that other companies charge $80-100 for this. Ridiculous. Owner was unresponsive to my request for a call and their scheduler didn't send me a price list. Terrible terrible customer service! After spending approximately $800 on repairs at the time of turn on this season, I was left with 3 broken lines. When I discovered this, I was told it would take over two weeks to get an appointment. Even though it's likely the issue was present at turn on and missed, I was told "sorry". Even when speaking with a manager who only complained to me about doing her job, I was still told, "sorry, not much I can do". When this company was Kessen, they were smaller and more service orientated....not anymore. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Disappointing experience with Nationscapes after having used Keesen Sprinkler for the past couple years. After waiting a month for a turn on appointment, the tech found an issue in a valve (which they had replaced last summer) and the system couldn't be left on, which he said would make a follow up appointment a priority. Later I found out it was going to be another 3 weeks to replace the valve. I hate working on my sprinkler system, and the $135 to turn it on is worth it if they're going to fix what's invariably broken over the winter, as Keesen always had in the past. Turning the water valve 90 degrees isn't the hard part. I fixed the valve myself and will be using a different company for blowouts & turn ons in the future. Not sure what happened with the name change or if there's a new owner, and I know everything is different this year, but the service that previously distinguished Keesen has gone downhill. read more

We wanted to potentially hire Keesen to do a sprinkler repair and reconfiguration for us, apparently they didn't want our business. Setting up an estimate meeting was easy. We made an appointment for an "after 4pm" window. The day of the scheduled appointment, I get a call from the tech around noon saying he was on his way. Luckily my husband was home that day supervising other house work, so it worked out fine. But if you have after 4pm appointment slots, you'd assume that people are going to take those because they don't have to take off work. If someone who is at work and expecting an evening appointment gets a call at noon and has to leave unexpectedly due to the company's poor planning? That's not acceptable. The appointment was on a Friday. The tech said he'd get an estimate to us by the end of the day, or on Monday. Monday comes and goes and nothing. I call on Tuesday to check in and the office person said she'd check with the tech and have him get back to us. We never heard anything. I could have kept calling to follow up, but that's not the way I want to have to function with someone I'm paying money to do work, especially already having had the scheduling issue. read more

Rich was friendly and knowledgeable. They showed up on the hottest day in July (the 4th if memory serves) and completed the entire sprinkler installation and sodding in a couple days. However, since it was so hot some of the sod had dried out and died the first week after installation. Rich called me and explained that they would be out there immediately to replace the damaged sod at no extra cost. The lawn looks great! I'd definitely recommend Keesen Lawn and Sprinkler! read more

I'm strongly recommending against using this company. We have used them for the last few years. This year, we made an early appointment to have our sprinklers turned on April 21st. It was snowing that day but we never received a call from them and left 3 voicemails to reschedule with no return call. Finally reached them to be told that they were booked until after May 25th. They obviously don't appreciate loyal customers nor can they follow up to insure customer satisfaction. They did a no call/no show. Then when they finally came, I asked the guy to give me an estimate to update our system. He quoted $750 and we scheduled two weeks out. When they finally came back, we were then told $1400. They said they don't give estimates/quotes and charge $190/hour for labor (I laughed... these guys were obviously not qualified). read more

We have used this company for several years with satisfactory results to care for our home sprinkler system. This year one of our zones died and after a 2 hour visit that cost about $180, we were told "nothing can be done" to bring water back to the area of our yard that has no water. Say what? We were willing to put in a new line or do whatever is needed, but could not get past the "nothing can be done." Hard to believe there is no answer at any cost and this area must now be dry forever. I have had good luck with Keesen Lawn Sprinkler company. They have done the shut off and turn on of our old sprinkler system for the last couple of years. I didn't think the last tech that was out was as familiar with the system as others have been, but that is a minor item. They have always shown up on time and are friendly. read more

We have used this company for a few years in both the spring and the fall. The quality of work has gone down hill and they cannot keep an appointment time. Our most recent experience the tech arrived over 2 hours early causing us to race home to meet him. He needed us to help find the sprinkler heads and did not seem to know exactly what he was doing. They did send an email less than 24 hours before the appointment, but I had been travelling and did not see the email. We had our driveway widened and in doing so, they had to rip out the side sprinklers. We needed the sprinklers fixed quickly as the builders wouldn't lay down the sod until the sprinklers were back into the ground. I called them on Wednesday and they were able to come out by Friday afternoon (yes, even smack in the middle of June during their busy season). They charged us for a 'call out' fee and then an hourly rate but the guy had it done within a hour. Very professional and glad they were able to come on such short notice. read more

Keesen is no longer. The Keesen service we expected: phone calls to set up appointments, the tech reviewing the settings and being sure all heads are watering what is meant to be watered is all gone. My mid summer check up which I pay extra for never happened, they said I was suppose to call for this!! Up until now they always called to set up the appointment, no notice was given about the new rules that the customers were to take on the responsibility of tracking their appointments. When I called to say what is up, why had I not received a call about my mid-summer (this is Aug 12, 2920) check up, I was disconnected during the conversation. I called back and left a message and no one called me back. Instead I got an e-mail saying when they were coming (a date I am not around) and that if I was not there they would charge me $39. Huh? This is also a deviation from Keesen's service. Lastly, I was told that the programs would be auto renewed. AGAIN, no notice of this change. I never auto renew as I may change my program from year to year. Very, very sad that the company who bought Keesen (Nation Scapes) sold out to a company that would not honor the types of relationships they had developed. read more

Our system was installed by this company back in the 70's. We have used them since then to repair and to turn-on/turn-off. We have always been satisfied with their service. Since they have been bought out by NationScapes their service has gone downhill FAST! Technician was out in the spring and was supposed to come back to address a problem. Never heard from him again. I called to schedule him out today and they gave me a window of noon to 5pm. That is a very large window! Just called at 4:05pm and talked to Tracy. She said he was just arriving at the the call ahead of us. Looks like he won't even be here by 5. I have wasted the whole half day, didn't work, can't run errands and they can't even get here as promised. Don't use them - there has to be a better company out there! read more

I had my system installed by Keesen about five years ago and the service is great! I have them service it every year & have had no complaints. They give me great tips, like if I plant new trees & add to my garden. I know I could do most of what they do but I have the peace of mind that everything is working properly! read more

Install team was amazing. Everyone else was worthless. Scheduling appointments around a working couple apparently is asking to move mountains. No shows to appointments, random cancellations without justification, incompetent front desk staff, and just plain unprofessionalism is rampant. The latest issue is trying to get a sprinkler turn on scheduled. First we get a random cancellation of our appointment with no justification and they tried to push us out into mid June at the end of the scheduling window. Not acceptable. We finally get rescheduled for tonight at 5 pm as we both work and have children so we have a tight schedule. At 8 am we get a call that the tech is on his way. After explaining again that we need it at 5, the tech apologizes. Later at around 3 the tech calls again saying he's done with his rounds and wants to come over early. Again we explain that we need it at 5. He calls back and we confirm that unless he hears from us he will see us at 5. At 5:25 we call him to see where he's at and after trying holding him to his "5 minutes away" excuse he says he's turning down the job and we need to call the front desk to reschedule. This was defended by the manager as we were being "abrasive". Is asking for simple competence too much to ask? Just be respectful of people's time. Is that so hard to ask? Apparently when you don't do your job and are incompetent, people calling you out for it is abrasive. Customer service at this company is dead. If you don't fit their idea of a customer and are patient enough to deal with a 70 year old front desk lady asking you to spell your name 20 times in addition to the other incompetence then by all means use this company. read more

If you care about kids at all, DO NOT hire these fools and encourage them to come to your neighborhood and speed, run stop signs, swerve all over the road and almost (hopefully almost) hit kids/parked cars as the drivers play on their phones while doing all of the above. Their employees are a danger. I've never hired Nationscapes or their acquired company Schaefer as these clowns are dumb enough to be this dangerous and irresponsible... all with their company logos literally covering their trucks in Nationscapes wrap (not a subtle logo on the door). They're going to kill someone. The other landscaping companies I see driving through the neighborhood aren't generally this stupid - they probably reserve being a menace 2 society in unmarked cars. And no, I'm not the old "get off my lawn" type of miserable you might think I am. This is just how mad I was today after they ran a stop sign while speeding and phone surfing - and veered towards me and my baby. Assessed my system in summer 2017 and made adjustments. Changed three sprinkler heads in the backyard to overlap more area and made a significant difference (changing brown grass to green). The technician was courteous, helpful, respectful, professional, and efficient. read more
