Epic failure on my part. Carefully consider whether you want to hire this company. It is with great…read moretrepidation and uncertainty that one embarks on a search for a roofer. The costs are high, the work is challenging and the end results are unknown. So due diligence is paramount in this quest. As it turns out, I put in the work, took several bids and made my choice. I went with Tadlock Roofing and while the result in the end was satisfactory, I can't help but think I might have done much better. I will cover the good first and then the bad. The good. The sales person was very personable, her manager was very knowledgeable and I felt at ease and comfortable. All my questions were answered and I felt confident that I could go forward with enough information to compare their product to others and make a reliable decision. The product was of good quality and promised to last a great many years. The Mexican installation crew were focused, speedy, professional, jovial and detail oriented. They worked carefully in order to limit any surrounding damage to plants and property. The post work clean up was encouraging since the ground was covered in debris and nails and I have grandkids who play out there. They were meticulous in their efforts to leave the yard safe and clean. Now, the less positive aspects. Those friendly faces that promised to be with you every step of the way, did a vanishing act. The half dozen or more documents you are forced to sign that release Tadlock of any responsibility should ANY damage be done to the home or surrounding area felt downright menacing and impart a feeling of helpless doom. A huge laundry list of things for which they would take no responsibility, a virtual cornicopia of small print to indemnify themselves was extremely worrisome. Shingle delivery workers who ignored my many many requests to spread the shingles weight on my roof for safety, downright aloof and nasty was their attitude. The delays in schedule were abundant. Leaving the heavy shingles on the roof an extra week. They left the roofing plywood on the ground in the yard to get wet from the rain for nearly a week. A dumpster sitting in the driveway an extra day. The gutter work was not even scheduled until the roof was completed for more than a week and then days went by without any contact or word regarding the installation. And remembrr those smiling faces promising to be with you every step of the way, still missing. Found out later that Mr. Tadlock sold his business to a national company that fired about 80 employees in our state and closed one or more locations. The girl who came to our house in the beginning was gone. The manager now splitting time between Tampa and Sarasota. It's all downhill from here, with all the cost cutting the company is making, the skeleton crew that is left, it would be wise to consider carefully whether you want to hire this once great company. To be fair, in the end over 2 months later I did have a new roof and gutters. It was quality product and MY installation crew was awesome. Viva Mexico. There are several crews however, you have to make sure you get a good one.

A representative from the company privately told me that there was no foreman on site at the time of this particular roof installation and it was done improperly. The owner agreed to replace the roof at no additional cost to me and included a silicone sealant as a layer of protection. It has continued to leak every few months in new locations. The owner refuses to acknowledge WHY a brand new roof continues to leak, yet makes excuses that it was due to hurricane damage (there was little rain during the recent hurricanes and no trees lie above this particular roof to cause damage). I would highly discourage any using this company for any roof replacements.

UPDATE AFTER COMPANY RESPONSE: As you can see in the reply…read morebelow, the company is choosing to hide behind the notion that the warranty is, despite no documentation having been provided saying as much, non transferable. In any event, warranty or not I think the images and the fact that multiple areas of water intrusion are occurring within two years of installation speaks clearly about the craftsmanship provided by this company. Perhaps they sent the "B Team" because they knew the house was on the market when they installed the roof and they would wash their hands of the lack of quality upon sale? Pretty wild. And just for the record, I'm a lifelong Florida resident who is quite aware of the weather the roof has been exposed to. Absolutely no weather-related damage occurred...these were installation defects as pictured. Wind and rain didn't leave a litany of exposed nails. That's craftsmanship, or more accurately lack of craftsmanship that has been compounded by lack of accountability. You're correct though, Nobody wants to work for free. That's why people strive to provide quality the first time and if a mistake or oversight occurs, they make good on their obligation to provide a quality product. Your family owned business is harmed not by 1 star reviews. It is harmed by 2 year old roofs you install springing multiple leaks. And I haven't taken the time to leave this review with the hope you'd make good on your obligation. I'm writing this so families are aware when spending 10's of thousands of dollars that they can reasonably expect two problem free years before multiple areas begin leaking. Maybe they'll even be lucky and the warranty expectation will be honored and they'll get to play whack-a-mole with roof repairs until they give up and pay 10s of thousands of dollars more for a complete reroof. What a headache. If you see a red truck, you may just be outta luck. Read the (up until this point nonexistent) fine print!

The project manager assigned to our job, Dallas Garay, was an absolute pleasure to work with. His crew showed up exactly on time around 7:30 in the morning, got straight to work, and did a stellar job. By about 2:00 PM the entire roof was finished, which was impressive. Even the dumpster holding the old roofing materials was picked up the very same day. They also did a great job cleaning up afterward, leaving everything neat and tidy. Overall, this was a smooth and professional experience from start to finish. I cannot recommend Hytz Roofing and Dallas Garay enough. Five-star company all the way!

I am so happy that I made the decision to get this repair done now. We're just a few weeks from storm season here in Florida, and the damage around our chimney was extensive. The work extended to actually repairing rotten decking and below that, the actual rafter frames needed to be sistered with new wood to restore it to a secure set of rafters. The men were efficient and workmanlike, breaking only for lunch and one run to the lumberyard to get more wood, and another sheet of steel. Other than that, the Gage had made a good estimate and most of the materials were ready for the work. We are now considering a full roof replacement due to new understanding about the poor quality of the initial roof installation. I recommend A3.
