The interior was in the style of grander times, but in my opinion that adds a character to the hotel. Breakfast was nice, albeit we had to wait for the potato hashbrowns - they were worth waiting though! However, it's like they don't give a crap. For example, one of the lamps in our 'superior' room wasn't working- we told them before left for dinner but nothing changed when we came back. The kettle in the room as definitely seen better days - it's filter had holes and might as well not been there at all. Some of the teabags weren't wrapped. It doesn't take much to change a bulb or provide a decent kettle (especially if you charge us for 'superior'). It was also quite cold in the room and no way to increase temperature.

The corridors, however, can be a real maze (at least for foreigners), just like in an old English manor house. For Englishmen everyday life, but for foreigners somehow unpractical, is the bedding: Four (4) bed-covers which make you sleep like a corpse in a coffin and still freezing. What really made me upset was the shortage in warm water in the late evening. Taking a cold shower in UK is certainly not a good idea.

This was a good base for Telford and Ironbridge…read more We stayed here when there was a heavy snowfall and almost got snowed in and snowed out one day! Its positioned on the main dual carriageway and is pretty easy to find once you've navigated all the roundabouts! There is a pub further down the road and an estate with superstores on which we found useful on one day as the snowfall was so heavy the traffic wasnt going anywhere so we called there and got some wellies! and then holed up at the pub to thaw out while the traffic died down. The hotel itself is your usual Travelodge, rooms a reasonable size, it was clean and had all the usual amenities, tea and coffee making, tv etc. We would use this one again for short visits to the area.

We chose the full tea with bubbly. It was more than enough food for the two of us, and I noticed that the clotted cream was clearly freshly made and very thick and creamy. Sitting in the atrium was a lovely atmosphere and the service was friendly and attentive.
