They deserve no stars.. The system in place is un-usable. I was happy to do the virtual given that Covid is a real concern for my family. I got a computer that has Windows 10. I set up in a room that is being re-done and has nothing in it. I took a day off of work and logged in on time. I was able to get through to a proctor who then told me that my computer had a program running in the background. I pulled up task manager and could not find a single thing running except the kiosk. She had me call the help desk where the gentleman was extremely rude. He had no idea what he was talking about and spent the whole time talking down to me. Explaining that I MUST be doing something wrong, instead of helping me. He then told me that I would just have to re-schedule since I could not shut down this "program" that was running.... So I rescheduled... i had the same issue. I have emailed the help desk and never heard back. I have wiped my computer, had a system admin friend of mine help me set up to make sure nothing was running. (yes the kiosk was running in admin mode) He couldn't find anything running on the computer EXCEPT the base programs that run windows 10. I do not know how anyone has managed to take this test. This has show me just how ridicules NTN really is. I find it hard to believe that NTN has become the national expectation, when during the pandemic I was not able to test despite the fact that I tried a handful of times. The man who answers the help desk line every time for me, has been nothing but rude and aggressive. Even when the proctor was the one telling me to call him because something weird was obviously going he acted like I was an idiot even when my system admin friend talked to him he was rude. What a horrible company. I scheduled an online examination for 6/2/2023. I read the instructions thoroughly, I took the two test prior to taking the firefighter test, and eventually it got to the Point of taking my test. I logged on to their system and had everything ready. I was in a quiet room, had headphones on, and my computer was set up to share the screen. The proctor never showed up on my screen though and after two minutes of nothing the proctor marked me as a no show. I immediately contacted support. And they were unwilling to help me. Their emails to me were actually quite rude. They said the only thing I can do now is pay an additional 25 dollars for a stand in test. Really what it came down to, is that they just want money. They know they have bugs in their system as well (if you have tested with them before, you will understand what I mean). But they are not willing to fix them. Honestly a horrible company! read more

they are horrible!! I am a good test taker and I have failed their police test 2 times. I bought their stupid practice test. You study hard,feel good about their practice test. The first thing you notice is there are about 80 multiple choice questions and the practice test has 15 questions. Here you go ,a sea of questions you have not studied. They ask police trade questions, they might as well ask bricklayer trade questions they did not have this info in their practice test. Study some other way! read more

Worst experience online testing. Have to jump through so many loopholes just to be told to re download everything you have just re downloaded. Also paid for a test for 1 p.m but when I got the confirmation email it said 2 p.m. All other online testing is more worth the while. Had a test scheduled for 1/6/23. Admittedly I logged in early b/c I got my time zones mixed up (I am MST and they are West Coast and I reversed the time difference, my fault but I had been traveling and dealing with family medical issues). When I logged in the proctor claimed the screen share wasn't working and I needed to close the browser and call support. Support confirmed that the screen share was working just fine and that it must have been an issue on their end and asked that I submit a ticket online so she could push it to Level II support. L II said they would not waive b/c I logged in early and therefore they considered me a risk and denied my retest. Said I could schedule again but I would have to pay another $55. What a scam. I agree with other reviews, if you are an employer looking to test your candidates, please look elsewhere. You are potentially losing good candidates b/c the testing facility is greedy and unscrupulous in their drive for more profits, all at the expense of candidates. Peoples careers are on the line and no one at this company seems to care. Side note, I was not muted when the proctor was setting all the other candidates up and while I have no idea how many candidates he was proctoring there were at least a half dozen others that were having 'technical' issues as well from what I could hear. I would give this service 0 stars if I could. They are a waste of money and time, and they are fraudulently making me as a now show to my test even though I logged in in on time, and now they are refusing to refund me for the test not being able to be taken. I have rescheduled a test for another day, and still had to pay another fee, when in reality the first test was wrongly marked as a no show. I am so fed up with this company, and believe they should be shut down as they are dishonest, corrupt, and are out to get peoples money without providing service. In order to test remotely, you must have background applications closed on your computer. There is then a check on your computer that identifies all running software that must be closed. It identified Nvidia GeForce Now as a problem. Whatever, I uninstalled it just for the test. You are on camera and screen sharing the entire time. Started the test, everything was going fine. Then, my test was randomly closed by the proctor. I opened a ticked to ask why. They said Microsoft Edge opened and ended my test. After talking with support, I have to pay to be able to take the test again. The test I was doing on camera. While screensharing. I was not even touching the keyboard or mouse. read more

Im so glad trying to apply to a dispatcher role in Portage county, Ohio has been a nightmare through this website. The instructions are confusing, nobody ever responds when you send a email to their site. Then if you call the police department they dont know because using this site is new to them too. if you call City Hall they were nice but suggested I try all the things I already did. The test is $48.00 and if you want an inperson site good luck with that because you will have to drive across Ohio. when you finally get scheduled and if your lucky to get everything working. I was able to find a working phone number through Google but not their site. the women on the phone was nice but had no idea. I finally get the test working again only to have no proctor so Im calling them back at which im told i have to pay an additional $25 to get into another time slot at 4pm. I did this because Im not a quiter and I came this far. but next telling me after taking the $25 that I might not get in and its not a guarated slot so to late now since I paid gor this. 4 pm comes and a kid in a hunting cap popped up said I had to go to a room with one door for safety not sure what was going to happen in my house because of this. so I took my laptop and a chair and went into the bedroom after showing them what my bedroom looks like and yes indeed this room only has one door. I was then told I have yo wait gor another person to tell me its ok yo take the test. After about 15 minutes another person pops on and gives me the clear and asked is there like math questions and is that why theu do it like this and she said yes. hmmmm interesting.... but behold after two hours I had not one math question and I guess that was it. I do not know what happened to my protoc but she wasnt there. I then proceeded to load some documents to the site to finish my application and the add doc button on their site isnt working now. its not doing anything so how am I going to apply for this position. Evwn while taking this yes on the map questions on two of them I was selecting which patrol car and nothing happened I was unable to select any response and 20 seconds were up. After researching this business it has terrible ratings and rated an F through the BB site and they arent even registered! Im totally disappointed this site cost me this job and Im just really annoyed and wasted money. read more

this website is extremely confusing and quite honestly overkill for testing. they require you to disconnect everything from your laptop or desktop with no Bluetooth devices used such as headphones, synced keyboard and mouse. ALL NEW MACS HAVE BLUETOOTH MOUSE AND KEYBOARDS. They need to update their restrictions because this isn't 2003. they need to come up with the times. they act like they're giving nuclear launch codes. It's so difficult to just start the exam because of all the flaming hoops that need to be jumped through. I've never been so stressed out before I even started an exam. if you have a MAC log out of iCloud so nothing pops up on your screen like a text message or a phone call, they will end your exam immediately. turn off all notifications so there are no pop-ups. I really hope they update their policy to better match the technology age were currently living in. read more

Testing online was a HORIFFIC experience. And I'm not one to write reviews and try and bring down someone's company for a mistake or miscommunication. But I paid over $100 for study materials and to take the test online, due to how far away I lived from the Live Testing site. And when i had completed all of the Pre-Checks (making sure your microphone works, camera works, screen sharing is on, etc.) and then waiting almost an hour for the proctor to accept me into the test. I was immediately kicked out with a message saying "Your proctor marked you as a no show". So instead of panicking, i called their support line and told them exactly what happened. And the response i got was "Fill out a trouble ticket and we'll get back to you". This test was only open for 48 hrs and there were no other times available for me to take it online. They completely disregarded my need for help and were utterly useless. After having kicked me out for following all the instructions? These are people's careers and possible future careers on the line, you can't afford to make careless mistakes like that. I had a terrible experience, and i highly recommend NOT using this company for any sort of test. Awful experience, awful support team, and even worse company. I will not be using these services again, and most definitely will not recommend them to anyone. read more

For all that care about receiving professional customer service. Emily, the manager and her proctors have an awful understanding of professionalism and the ability to treat people properly. They are liars, cheaters, and will make things up out of the blue in order to defy their direct operating procedures. I attempted to take an exam with them virtually, and the protector kicked me out of my exam, stating that I did not show up because I was EARLY by only two minutes. As I was checking in with the proctor, she was telling me to do absolutely absurd things such as take my exam in the bathroom of my trailer because a Mobile RV isn't secure enough. So when I had to move my charger and mirror into the bathroom she kicked me out of the exam and lied to her manager Emily, stating I did not even show up. I tried to email to complain and they forced me to pay a $25 no show fee on top of the $55 testing fee and I DID NOT DO ANYTHING WRONG. The way this company is ran is completely and utterly unprofessional and inappropriate. Who allows their employees to tell someone to," take your test on the toilet for all I care." cannot say enough terrible things to describe the national testing network. The notification I got, if I have financial issues (Unemployed), I need to bring documentation as proof. I brought my unemployment records and was told the corporate office will be in touch. I received an email 30minutes later stating my document is under review and it could take longer than the timeframe I have to take the test (3 weeks). Because they could not guarantee the waiver, I could pay for the test. What's the point of stating the waiver on the website if you can't verify my unemployment records, which I presented, within the timeframe? Dear gods almighty. I tried to test on this 2 times. The first time the proctor did not understand how it worked, and told me to completely log out to fix a tech issues, and that ended up kicking me. I tried again and was logged in 40 minutes early and the proctor marked me as a no show. I called the number for help and was told that they could not help me and I needed to write a ticket and if I marked it "urgent" I would get a response in a few minutes. Trying to take a test from home utilizing their downloaded program. Technical issues with program were found, contacted support, the first lady who helped me was super helpful and nice, told me to call back to get rescheduled and that a fee could be waived. However their tech support division responded to my emails as though I was technologically illiterate. I explained to them I had reinstalled all driver software, and ran testing diagnostics to make sure it was not my computer, but their remote software. I sent a picture of the kiosk they use failing to launch my audio and visual equipment (camera/mic.) working fine on my laptop through testing and another app. I re-contacted their support telephone line twice more in attempt to get rescheduled, and was helped by a Carol, Caroline, or maybe even Carolynn? NOT EVEN CLOSE to as nice as the first lady, super short and seemed annoyed talking to me. After I thanked her for her time she abruptly hung up. Although there are many time slots still open today, I was told I would have to wait 24 to 48 hours to be contacted back after submitting a help ticked to reschedule and pay a fee for "no showing" to my test, even though I contacted them approx. 20 minutes with issues before the start of my test. Is it crazy to think that after years of utilizing their company in testing applications, I could politely be assisted with issues I encountered using their new program? I have probably spent a few hundred with NTN throughout the years and I am pretty disappointed... read more

This company's website is so confusing. They don't get their facts straight. They post dates and times and places for tests that don't exist. We paid for a test that no one at Chemeketa had heard of, even though the NTN information said to go to that address, that building, at that time. Let's not forget to mention their testing prices are outrageous. Our total cost was over 120 bucks just to test for one agency. It would be one thing to pay this much for tests if they were well organized and the website was easy to navigate, and instructions were easy to understand... Unfortunately, none of this is the case. It's disappointing to see so many agencies switching to this form of testing. For the agency we needed to get tests done for they wanted a written and a physical test. The NTN company actually navigated us to sign up for two physical abilities tests and no written tests, yet named them differently so it looked like the two different tests were the ones we needed. I urge agencies to think twice and actually try out the company before switching to this testing. I warn candidates to think about whether the agency you are applying for is worth the headache of using this company. In our case, the agency was worth it, but I have decided in the past to not apply for certain agencies because they use this testing. On a side note, I have taken a test through NTN and it was fine, but that agency set everything up for it's candidates, and did not make the candidates go through the NTN website. I was denied rescheduling or refund when a death occurred in my immediate family the morning of the test. I sent them an email explaining what had happened and was met with a reply that, regardless of circumstances, no rescheduling requests can be made within 7 days of the scheduled test, and that I would need to purchase another time slot. The website says to come early at least 30 min... and I get there early but they kicked me out saying they have to take me closer to my testing time around 10-15 min before my testing time...and they acted really sketchy....they barely opened the door for me and asked me why I was there... and I replied for the test and the woman kept starring at me as if she wanted to hear more...so super creepy!!! (Weirded me out not even in the right mindset anymore) And so I proceed to say for...the national network testing.... and then this lady nods and goes off on me saying she can't take me now etc etc come back by such and such time. Talk about being non professional, Super creepy as I had to knock a few times before someone answered the door, and it looked abandoned, and then turned away...this is a paid test that should act more accommodating as I drove 1 hour away just to take the test since it's the locations are not available everywhere and I wanted to use the restroom. This is the weirdest experience trying to reach my goal working for the government. I was never treated like this at pd agencies who provide testing we don't have to pay for at all. This company's website is not accurate and they list days and time slots that are inaccurate. Two days before my exam I received a notice saying my exam was canceled due to Covid-19 and that I could reschedule for a future exam. Although this was not great news I understood. However, when I logged in to reschedule they still had all these dates and times even for the same day and location they cancelled. I spoke to some there name Reggie who said basically just to reapply for another exam and as long as I don't receive a cancellation email I should be fine. I said but the dates n time you cancelled me for is still up there am I just shooting crabs in a bucket and hoping at this point. The site should be updated to accurately reflect the testing times and locations that are available. So I decided to take the Virtual test and no Proctor appeared after waiting 42minutes and I send an email and they are telling me I was late to log in and that maybe I was in another time zone. This is extremely unacceptable that people are applying for essential worker positions and they are treated like this. More States need to follow NY's lead and have there own testing Department because this place is unprofessional and unreliable. read more

I recently took a test at this facility and I was struck by how professional and organized the whole testing process was, and how nice the staff was, and how well-laid out the building site/offices were. I appreciated how they advised us that our test scores would be available to us right after the test. - and, sure enough, they were! This company's website is so easy to understand. All the employees there had their facts straight and were very knowledgable about the process. They were also very helpful when it I asked about volunteering in the area and interviews. Very Clean building with great staff. Only 4 stars because I had a hard time finding the building. They need a sign out front. read more

This will be my second test with NTN and so far I have no complaints. The fact is if you need employment in Fire and Rescue you're probably going to be utilizing their service. I personally feel their web services are pretty straight forward and easy to navigate. It is common that candidates are required to retest with your company after scores expire. Scores are invalid after one year and retesting is mandatory for departments that use your services to even consider us. Based on the monopoly of your company taking over most departments in my area, I am under more pressure to utilize your services if I want to work anywhere near my hometown and in my own community. I am on my third round of testing with you and have spent copious amounts of money on the hiring processes of multiple departments to look the part, have test scores of your required testing, printed documents for every interview and of course the gas money to get to any of the 15 interviews I've already been through. I find it offensive that I'm required to spend nearly $200 every time I am to retest with you, as well as the $40 installment for the higher quality practice test. The effort and labor we put into the interview process is individual, and not every candidate has been through the same stress, but it is a strong likelihood that a large sum of potential first responders have been put under the same stress of this pricetag multiple times as well, all the while, attempting to get a job as a selfless servant to our communities. I will do this as many times as I have to, to get the job I've worked so tirelessly to earn, but I believe the next incoming participants in this testing event should not be put under the same stress to be rejected by their departments of choice for a year and be forced to pay such a high rate for any consecutive year(s) for the same testing. It is unfair and irresponsible to place a burden on those struggling with any circumstance of life while trying to pursue such a career as firefighter/paramedic/EMT. I hope to find in my future that a person crosses my path, complaining about having to retake exams through the NTN and says, "At least I don't have to pay that outrageous fee twice". Please note, that this is from a person, dedicated to his career choice, grateful for every opportunity that has presented itself up to now, and means no disrespect. I'm currently working as a paramedic in a primary 911 service and have been for several years just following the steps to get experience to be hired at the fire department. I have a baby on the way, I live in a small apartment, and am responsible for the money of the household. This pricetag has set me back twice now, and this time while I'm saving and preparing for my newborn. I hope you see this as construction and not just a disgruntled candidate not yet hired. I'm not a part of National Testing Network, but have lots of friends, that have tested with them. Unlike the previous review, their test for "one department" is 40 bucks; 40 bucks for the test and the 1st department is free and only 7 bucks for an additional department (see their site). Their website is extremely easy to navigate and selecting departments also easy. "NTN" is the best testing agency in the U.S. and saves departments 10's of thousand's of dollars; for larger cities, it can be 100's of thousand's. The CPAT does cost $125.00, but there is a lot of expense for leasing an indoor building (or owning) and includes a lot of expensive equipment/maintenance. I know people who work at NTN and they told me, candidates make mistakes by selecting the wrong test dates or times or being late for their exams. Being late is not tolerated. In some cases, they select a completely different test center, but dates/times are on the calendar and for the majority of candidates, very easy to see! If a person has difficulty scheduling a test on their website, they probably don't have the aptitude to become a Firefighter. Just the cost of hiring Firefighters as proctors is extremely expensive. Having fixed facility testing from an outstanding company like NTN, also saves them a lot of money, which can now be used to hire more Firefighters! Some Firefighter candidates don't like a situational, video-based test. Unlike a regular paper and pencil test, the FireTEAM test is extremely difficult to cheat on and will actually help in determining, if a person has the ability to become a high-quality Firefighter! read more

I tested out of the Olympia, WA facility today and had already performed my written/reading exam for law enforcement at this branch. I was thrilled to see the small size of the group I tested with and the enthusiasm of the two gentlemen who facilitated the physical component. They were extremely encouraging and funny as a train wreck. Neither of those things were necessary or expected but it made the time fly and the tests were much more fun! I had a great experince with them. It was nice to schedule a testing time that worked for me. The video part of it was a lot more interesting and actually fun. I like that I can apply to more than one job with one test. The staff at the testing center was very nice and put my nerves at ease. I wish more departments were using it though. I had to drive up to Washington last week to test for a job and it would have been nice to transfer my test scores instead. Oh well, had a nice trip before the weather got bad. read more

If you are going to use the NTN for your CPAT in Everett, Wa buyer beware. The proctors there are not fair nor do they test everyone equally. If you are alone when you take the test and fail, it is your word against theirs and I bet you can guess who the winner is. The unfair treatment is appalling. Struggling firefighters are required to pay again and again. I just wanted to warn unsuspecting people so the same thing doesn't happen to you. If you are able to test at a different area...please do so. Oh and by the way, there is no place to send complaints to or even a place to rebut the results. Test there at your own risk. read more

I have used National Testing Network (NTN) for employment services for Firefighter openings with no issues until now. They want you to pay $125 for a physical agility test and $40 for a "written test". First of all $165+ for someone trying to find a job is already way to high. But they have policies in place to further the pain. I paid the $165, CPAT & FireTeam, and a few months later picked up by a department that does not even use NTN. The department is a smaller department and I was looking to see what else was out there. A year goes by since I last tested so I was due to retest. A month prior to my retest I paid $7 to have my info/scores sent to a department I was actively trying to get on with. When I setup my retest they asked what departments I would like to send my scores to. I selected 1 that I did not have. After testing I noticed the department that I was trying to pursue was not on my list. After a couple of support tickets I called and spoke with a manager. He informed me of "company policy' that if you do not pay another fee and add them your new list you would not be able to send your info to them. Even though I just paid a month prior. Along with 5 to 6 other departments. So needless to say it was a waste of money. On top of everything, I was told the only way for me to add them to my list was to retest in 6 months and pay another $40 for the test, plus $7 to re-add them. The manager stated 100+ candidates have called with the same issue and in his words that would be fair to them to allow me send my info to the department I already paid for. My thinking was if 100+ people have called with the same issue, obviously there is a problem. Needless to say I am done with NTN. Make your own judgement I just felt I needed to tell my story.
