First time skeet shooter. Called ahead, asked what semi auto shotguns they have. Now, I realize…read morethey have all my name and info, so I will try to be delicate here. Was told they only sell new guns, nothing used. Still, it was convenient, and lower price for entry level. Visited store. First noticed many nice shirts on way to gun counter, and sparse employees. Noted an unmistakable smell in middle of mens clothing. Picture a stairwell in an inter city parking garage or train station which homeless people do their elimination. Unmistakable. Arrived at gun counter. No employees. Waited 5 minutes. Called the store from cell phone to ask to send an employee. Young man popped up. Very unenthusiastic about making any sale. Anyhow, I selected what I wanted, and I was un enthusiastically given an iPad to fill out the clearance, then sent to the front register to pay $2 for the clearance. On return, was told that the clearance check was backed up, so I left for 1 hour and they called, said all clear. Signed other papers. Bought some shells, too. Gun was taken in back after I signed, broken down, trigger lock added. Boxed. I was not offered chance to look at new gun again once it was boxed. Hmmm. There was another woman (Penny, I think) who was also involved, and hardly talked directly to me, accept to say my clearance was delayed; seemed highly inconvenienced she had to participate in a sale. Checked out, was walked out front door with it. Later that night, assembled it. Discovered that once assembled like it was in the case, appeared clean. Once broken down, filthy inside, lots of powder in the receiver. New gun. Chokes were already installed in the barrels. Maybe a return? Was I given the advertised discount on new shotguns? Probably not. Well, it worked pretty well, not sure why the last guy to shoot it returned it. A bit of rust in the joints on this new gun, that's all. Hard to reload shells in the lower barrel when brake open. Stiff. Put a few hundred shells thru it today. Paid lower than I could have. The store has lots of cool stuff. Prices aren't bad. Just examine everything before you buy, assume you are looking at a re-shelved item. I'd shop there again, and just consider it more of a self serve kind of place. Don't get me wrong, nice store. Some air freshener, and clothing section good to go.

It is really a joy to visit this place now. The sales personnel are all cordial and helpful and the place has become incredibly customer friendly. During my last visit I had some questions about electronic collars and before I knew it there were 3 salesmen out front helping to answer my questions. Nobody was trying to push me into buying anything. They just wanted to make sure I had what I needed. While I was there they received several phone calls from online customers who had questions about recently purchased products and each time I observed they were just as helpful on the phone. I know that most of their business is online but I really appreciate that they have a great brick and mortar presence with helpful and knowledgeable sales personnel. I was very impressed and over this past year they have made me a loyal customer. I won't be buying my dog hunting supplies anywhere else from now on. Last time my hunting buddies were in town on a visit I made a point to take them to Lion Country Supply for the same experience.

I recently traveled to Sportsman's Warehouse in Altoona after learning from their website that they had the rod holder I wanted in the size I needed. The website was very clear that this size of this item was in stock, could be ordered online and picked up today ( see attached screenshots). I decided to just drive up and pick them up rather than ordering ahead. When I got to the store I was informed sorry we are out of them. In fact it wasn't just this size they were out of. They only had one of four available sizes in stock. This despite all sizes being listed in stock, available today for pickup in the store. I did get an apology from the salesperson, but that doesn't compensate me for wasting half a day and $20 in gas to get there and back. Don't believe anything you see on their website. They probably haven't got it. This is most disappointing as I really enjoyed shopping there in the past. Guess I'll have to go elsewhere in the future.

He was extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. After cancelling my order and issuing a full refund, I went back on their site and ordered the same revolver again. This one came in poor condition as well. Shane, again, spent a ton of time with me, and ultimately I elected for a refund. Smith and Wesson gets a 0/5 stars. Sportsman's Altoona should get 10/5 for how helpful they were. Couldn't have been an easier process with a better staff. I would absolutely go through them again.
