But here's the thing, to get in and out quick, pay at the pump has to work. The other night I was coming down Kirker Pass (westbound) and I see this Valero station. I pull in to Pump #1 with the intent to grab a few gallons and takeoff. Pump #1 didn't accept a Valero gas card. So I went inside where there were other drivers with the same problem. While I was waiting, I went to use the "all gender" restroom. It was pretty clean, maybe a "7" on a scale of 1-10. Then I speak to the cashier about my problem at Pump #1. My card worked fine, and I purchased $40 worth. The gentleman didn't say thank you, nor did he smile. In fact, he had this unpleasant look on his face. I went outside and discovered Valero gave me a 10-cent discount per gallon. I used it on Regular which was at $5.49/gal. Okay, this was last Thursday, and $5.49/gal wasn't cheap. I just checked, the price is still at $5.49. However, this Valero has a prime location at Clayton Rd & Kirker Pass Rd. That's why everything is so high, it's at the bottom of Kirker Pass Rd if you're going west. Oh, for you non-locals, Kirker Pass Road is an inter-regional route between Central and East Contra Costa County. Lots of drivers use this road to bypass major traffic congestion on Highway 4. I was shocked to see they no longer pre-wash the car. I thought that was part of the wash. What happened to the things you put on the outside of your car to tell them what kind of wash you bought? I bought the wash and wax and tire shine but I didn't see any wax come out and I had to tell the guy drying my car to do the tire shine. Everything seemed ok until the brushes started spinning hella fast and the last one that is next to the car actually hit my left side mirror really hard and moved the mirror glass. I shrieked and as soon as I got out of there I got out of my car to make sure the mirror wasn't broken. It wasn't, but the experience is still scary, I was cringing the entire time. I think there is more material on the brushes because they look bigger and thicker than the previous ones. Maybe if I had a big truck it wouldn't bother me but I have a little Saturn SL2. I'll give you a moment to let that sink in. .... My car was making strange noises. I took it to the shop; it ended up being my rotors and brakes that needed to be changed. They were so efficient and detail. The mechanic called me within the hour to give me a quote, which was completely reasonable. Then in a couple hours my car was ready. The shop is very clean, and the customer service is amazing. You are not a number; they treat you as if it was their own car. They have also answered so many of my little questions about my car- why it acts the way it does, whats normal vs. not normal etc. Since I pretty much, just expect to put the key in the ignition and want it to start. Not knowing what else is connected to what. I just don't know what the strange sounds are or what needs to be fixed when.
