They have a tiny farm there, we saw 2 pigs. More animals available to interact w on Saturdays. Suggested donation $2pp. They take cash there. I thought u needed advanced tickets so bought online but it's really just whoever wants to ride can line up. https://www.svlsrm.org/ Duck pond: tons of duck and geese Water area: part of american river?? Not sure. Can fish there! Playground: With climate change, unpredictable weather, and summers with many days over 100F, would be nice if all parks in the sac area provided shade. This one has shade only over a small set of swings by a picnic area/ by the trains & barn. The main playground had shade near it but no shade over the play structures. Kids going down the slides could get burned- recommend putting up shade to avoid future liability issues. Overall a beautiful park w a good amt of shade, multiple parking lots and multiple picnic areas. Too far for us to come regularly but likely coming back for the train ride during holidays when I think they usually have a Santa there. (You need advance tix for this)

September 24, 2025 - Rancho Cordova, CA…read more The fenced dog park is great! There's plenty of room for pups to run, with separate areas for big dogs and for small ones (under 15" in height). A few chairs are available for owners, plus a little swimming pool filled with water for the dogs. The grass and shade trees make it extra inviting. It's clear this park is very well cared for.

The ballroom has large windows overlooking the Aquatics Complex, which gives the space a bright, open feel. The private dressing room was included in the rental, and it was a huge plus. It was perfect for storing personal items and stepping away when needed. The room included its own sink, mini fridge, clothing rack, shelves, a table with four chairs, and a small sofa. The center provides a sound system with a microphone and TVs for presentations. The restrooms were clean, and parking was plentiful, shared with the Aquatics Complex. Big shout out to the onsite staff who made the day run smoothly. They were excellent! Brian, Maria, and Amy were helpful, professional, and friendly! However, there are some real downsides: Renting the kitchen, patio, or grass area costs extra, which feels excessive--especially the kitchen, which should really be included with a ballroom rental. Communication was the biggest issue. Bernal handled most of the rental coordination and was extremely difficult to reach & there wasn't a backup coordinator to communicate with. Emails were not answered in a timely manner, phone calls went straight to a messaging system and you cannot leave a message. We repeatedly had to drive to the center in person just to find someone to talk to. When we finally reached Bernal's supervisor, she apologized and explained there were staffing limitations at the time. Regardless, renters should not experience delays in communication. Better coverage and responsiveness are needed. Overall, great facility and great onsite staff, but communication needs improvement. With better responsiveness, this would easily be a 5-star venue.

Zumba Fit with Coach T through City of Sacramento Parks & Rec!…read more The North Natomas Community Center is attached to the North Natomas Aquatics Complex on the west end of North Natomas Regional Park. "The facility features a main ballroom, warming kitchen, and a private dressing room. Large windows overlook the North Natomas Aquatics Complex." Among the youth and community programs and events put on by the city of Sacramento, I checked out activities offered at NNCC and found an Adult Zumba Fit class. Check here for a list of all activities happening/offered at NNCC: https://anc.apm.activecommunities.com/cityofsacparksandrec/activity/search?onlineSiteId=0&activity_select_param=2&center_ids=259&viewMode=list Tequila Miller "Coach T" is the Zumba instructor, usually on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM for an hour. She's been teaching there since January 2024 and also teaches at Curves, Zumba Gold (seniors and older adults) at the South Natomas Community Center, and Zumbini (for 0-3-year-olds and their caregivers). For March, it cost $30 from March 5, 2024, to March 26, 2024, each Tuesday from 7 pm to 7:50 pm which was a great deal! For April, it's single classes instead for $10 each on April 9th, 23rd, and 30th, which is still a cheaper option compared to other places in the area such as Step 1 Dance & Fitness which is $15 for each drop-in class. Come and join us! The class is fun, not difficult at all to follow/pick up the repetitive choreography, and the playlist has a nice mix of songs: Cupid Shuffle, Blame It On The Boogie (Jackson 5), Proud Mary (Tina Turner), What A Feeling (Flashdance), The Cookout, The Wobble, and some other Latin-inspired ones too. Small class size but a huge space to dance around in, a good sound system, and the windows can act as mirrors if you're looking for that dance studio feel. Restrooms clean, water fountain if you forgot to bring your own bottle, onsite security guy for the evening too by the entrance. Plenty of parking as it's shared with the Aquatic Complex and they usually still have things going on there at the pool nearest to the Community Center during that hour.

The Location for an Invaluable 2011 eLearning DemoFest!…read more SITREP As part of my role as a trainer in the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Central Training Section (CTS), I have opportunities to conduct trainings and take trainings myself at various local and out-of-area facilities. Recently on Friday, September 23, the E-Learning training community of Sacramento Valley coordinated a very diverse and beneficial 2011 E-Learning DemoFest held at the Rancho Cordova City Hall offices in their adjoining American River Rooms. This involved: * 10 main eLearning vendor presentations & demonstrations on various software, platforms and "bells & whistles" one may use to *pop up* webinars and other online-training modalities. * Both Mike Hodge and Tyler Wade - very talented trainers we use for State of California "Master Analyst Program (MAP)" trainings - were responsible for organizing this event and are respected officers in the local eLearning community. RANCHO CORDOVA CITY HALL FACILITIES The adjoining American River Rooms and lobby area provided an extremely friendly and workable environment for putting on this DemoFest. The Registration began promptly at 11:30am in the lobby-entry area of the rooms and was sizable enough to provide enough room for the long, but quickly moving line. Just inside the room entry, was a sizable ante-way that was an excellent set up for lunch tables where the Rancho Cordova City Hall and E-Learning teams provided a great finger-friendly lunch of selected sub-sandwiches as well as diverse pasta salad offerings, with sodas, waters and juices. [During the afternoon break, ice cream sandwiches, nutty-buddies and ding-dongs were also provided.] ;^D The American River Rooms themselves were sizable enough when the partitions are fully open so that all the rooms are grouped together in one large conference room. When break-out sessions are scheduled, the rooms could be repartitioned. TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS The Rancho Cordova City Hall facilities provided more than ample electrical hook-ups, online internet connectivity, and broadband width support to conduct the demonstrations for all of our vendors. There actually were no glitches on the facility end of things. Whatever technical mishaps that did occur were entirely the responsibility of the vendors and their equipment configurations. E-LEARNING TRAINING The only downside to this DemoFest is that there were only six (6) scheduled segment-sessions and there were 10 vendors. So you had to pick and choose which sessions you wanted to sit in on, making an educated guess as to which ones would be the most valuable to you. * Cooperative Program Service (CPS) - Melissa Asher on "Cost Savings & Accessibility thru Online Learning: CDSS". * CSUS Continuing Education - Geoff Herbert on "Nurturing and Growing Your Moodle". * Dark Horse Consulting - Jeannette Monahan, SPHR Consultant on "Using ANGEL and Blackboard as tools for long-distance asynchronous learning." * Growth Analogy - Amelya Stevenson on "3D Avatars Bring Training to Life" * ARTICULATE - Ed Crosen and Angel Nazir on "Taking E-Learning to a New Level with Articulate Studio". * Los Rios College - David Wyatt & David Hyde on "Building Engaging Technical Training." * People Development Services - Dennis Wade (fyi- Tyler Wade's father), Principal Consultant on "Converting Existing Instructor-Led (IL) Courses to e-Learning Courses". * Sacramento Superior Court - Linda Shafer, Workforce Development Officer on "Creating a Captivating Customer Service Training in a Virtual Learning Environment". * Shaw & Pratt - Tina Shaw & David Pratt on "Developing e-Learning from the View of a Novice Developer". * The Knowland Group - by Bill Cushard, Chief Learning Officer on "The Self-Made Leader" * UCDavis Medical Center - by Lisa Eckels, Training Analyst on "Using Captivate to Create Engaging E-Learnings". It was a mixed bag. In hindsight, there are two (2) sessions, possibly (3), that I felt were a complete waste of my time in terms of "useful information and tech" that would be helpful in upgrading our training modalities here in CTS. However, each was still a useful presentation in gauging what available tools are being used out there for eTraining. THE LOWDOWN The Rancho Cordova City Hall facilities, and specifically the adjoining American River Room(s) complex is an excellent venue to hold the most demanding E-Learning seminars and conferences.
