Joining a team means I'm guaranteed to do some sort of physical activity once a week. Even though we don't always win, we always have a great time on the field. We continue having a great time afterward, off the field as well. I don't mind that there are no refs because it allows us to work it out amongst ourselves. Being in a "Social" league means everyone is very fair (for the most part). It's playoff time and we just (miraculously) beat the first place team. Maybe my opinion is slightly skewed tonight...

Compare to any other leagues in the city and other cities around the world and you'll realize you're being gouged. I would be fine with the price if the product was of high quality. Instead you get terrible customer service and no referees. I realize the sports are co-ed and recreational, but no referees leads to a multitude of problems, especially when the games become more intense (i.e. playoffs). I played one season of indoor soccer in this league and it was a horrible experience. First of all, there are no nets, instead you use flipped elementary school benches like you're a 5-year-old. We had a disputed goal in the semi-final game (what a surprise!) and the TCSSC head office staff was extremely unhelpful when we tried to resolve the issue. We vowed never to play in TCSSC again. Please support another GTA sports league: XTSC. Their prices are cheaper, indoor/outdoor soccer includes real nets, all games are officiated by an XTSC referee, and the staff are extremely professional and accommodating. The problem is that they only have soccer, dodgeball, and volleyball at the moment. Please support them so that they can start to add more sports!

The gym sits on the 36th floor and has a gorgeous view of Lake Ontario and the CN Tower and the Dome! Lots of equipments, Exercise bikes, Elliptical machines, Tread Mills and various other Weight Machines and assorted Bar Bells and Dumbbells. The Change room could be a little crowded during preCovid peak times. Now days quite empty as most members have not yet returned to downtown. It also has a Yoga Studio, Group Exercise classes and a full size swimming pool on the top floor. Steam room and Whirl pool in both Men and Women's Change rooms. Although I have never been in the Women's Change Room. It also has a Health Clinic staffed with many Physiotherapist, Registered Massage Therapist, Chiropractors , Athletic Specialists and Personal Trainers! It has a 5 star restaurant attached with a gorgeous view of the lake and the city. You don't have to be a member to eat at the restaurant or visit the Health Clinic for Treatments. Membership is expensive though, I pay $200 a month for use of the gym and assigned a tiny cube to store my Running Shoes and some gym clothes. The bigger lockers are for day use only . You can request a tour of the facility to get a better understanding of the facilities. If you mention my name, you might get some freebies... I usually go there 3 days a week in early mornings and it's almost like my own Private Gym. 10 minutes walk from my office, so there is no excuse for me not to go and get Fit!

Change rooms are fantastic and fully equipped with WHATEVER your heart desires - even personalized lockers! Run or gobble at their restaurant with a view. If you want to work out at a place that has nearly everything you need then this is that place but at a steep price point. They have a swimming pool and doesn't seem to ever get too crowded. I tried out the yoga lesson bright and early which was great as it felt more like a one one one. I liked this instructor as she wasn't too pushy or too pretentious (as is my issue with Yoga and I never really gave it a genuine go before for this reason). I felt great after and would probably even sign up for a membership if I worked in the area.

The gym has plenty of equipment for all your cardio and strength workouts as well as has a large variety of group classes ranging from pilates, boxing, spin, yoga, and even barre. There is also personal training, a spa, sauna, and their clothing shop as well. There is also an IQ Food Co for your post-workout smoothies and healthy eats. This particular review is for a sculpted yoga class I was able to attend at Equinox. I can't comment on the membership prices since the class was a free event held at Equinox, however, I still had access to the entire gym after the yoga class. This particular location on Bay St. is inside Commerce Court West where you have to take an elevator up to the 3rd floor to access the gym. Upon entering you immediately face the reception area. The lighting of the gym at first when you enter is dark and moody. The areas with the machines are well lit and the yoga room overlooks the corner of Bay/King. The change rooms are big where there are plenty of lockers available. You are able to find the steam room, showers, and washrooms inside the changeroom. There is ample space to change and shower after your workout. Everything I needed for the yoga class was provided. The room is not heated. The spacing of the mats are generous where there is ample room for everyone to move. The instructor we had was clear with her instructions and the workout was fun. After class we were provided with cool refreshing towels. Overall, the gym is clean and provides many amenities with all the workout equipment and machines you can think of. The space is nice and definitely caters to a certain type of clientele. Location is in the heart of the financial district as well making it easy for anyone in the downtown core to access.

I don't play Badminton, Racquetball or Tennis so it's clear that I'm not a member, but we came here for our work christmas dinner. The Club itself is fairly large, given that its smack dab in the middle of the city. However, as we went through a tour of the facilities and the building itself, its very clear that the building is old and disjointed and lacks proper flow from one area to another. The courts seemed to be in quite good condition though and you could tell this was an upscale type of club. The area where we had our lunch was quite nicely refinished and looked very crisp. We were seated in a room with a large round table for lunch. There was a set Christmas menu with choice for the main: squash and apple soup, a choice of Turkey Dinner, Salmon or Vegetarian and Christmas "pudding" for dessert. The food was quite good, I very much enjoyed the soup, a nice hearty appetizer for a cold day. The Turkey dinner was great, stuffing, vegetables, turkey, cranberry sauce and potatoes. The Christmas "pudding" was a bit odd, more like a cake with a small scoop of ice cream, but still good. Overall, it was a good experience for a staff luncheon but I dont' think I would recommend this venue for anything other than a relatively casual lunch (provided you know someone who's a member) as the facilities just don't seem to be able to handle much beyond that.

The Badminton & Racquet Club is nothing special on the venue front. Yes, they can host weddings (or in the event I went to, a funeral - yay), but really in the city you could do much better. Their space is nice, through slightly dated, probably due to an older demographic who frequents the club (I assume!). It seems to me that they are going for a "classic" look, but the result is more of a "dated" look - it reminds me a lot of the Faculty Club at the University of Toronto - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if these clubs were somehow linked. In terms of food, they do make a mean cheese platter - at their finger sandwiches are definitely tasty. Also, the bartenders are heavy handed on the alcohol - which may have not been the most appropriate at the event I was attending - but you know. The bartenders themselves were quite friendly and one in particular makes quite a delicious caesar! The only part of the club that does not need an update, in my opinion, are the washrooms. I am a sucker for venue-branded one time use towels (I know, I'm a tree killer) and soaps and lotions, apparently. Overall as a venue, this place is ok, but nothing special. In a city of hundreds on venues, you could definitely do a lot better (but also a lot worse) than the Badminton & Racquet Club.

After trying out these gyms, I came to the conclusion that Adelaide Club is the best bang for your buck and also the most conveniently location. I personally like CrossFit style workout and Adelaide's StregthLab program is exactly what I need: a CrossFit style program inside a gym, allowing me to do some Strenth and Conditioning workout, while enjoying the other perks in the club (yoga, cycling, squash, towel services, steam room, etc.) Note that the StregthLab program and squash are not included on the basic membership. Having said that, it's still cheaper than any other CrossFit gyms. Also, another benefits at the Adelaide's StrengthLab program is that the workout are tailored to office athletes; heavy lifts and complex gymnastic movements are not part of the workout (muscle-ups, overhead squat, etc). Another perk of the club is that members get to enjoy reciprocal access to other exclusive clubs across Canada and abroad (private golf clubs, tennis club, other high end gyms in Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary)

As working professionals and/or post-secondary students, it is quite hard to find a bunch of people to play pickup hockey, basketball, volleyball, dodgeball etc. It was so much easier when we were kids and could just ask a bunch of people on the same day to just go out and play, however as an adult, to just go out and "play" takes like weeks of planning and then inevitably something comes up for someone. Ah, the commitment free life - I miss it. Anyways, I digress. What I like about this club is: a) They provide the venue - sometimes it is a public school, Hershey SportsZone, Canlan or a park (for outdoor sports). This is actually quite hard to do on your own and I appreciate that. b) You can sign up as an individual or team. c) There is quite an assortment of sports and most leagues are recreational so the competition level isn't that high (though basketball seems to be taken quite seriously) and they are all co-ed. d) They have pickup games on Meetup.com ranging from $6 to $10 per game which usually last around 1.5 to 2 hours. e) They also have leagues on their websites which aren't ultra-competitive (though once you get that adrenaline going) and usually they last anywhere from 6 to 10 weeks and it works out to around $10-$15 per game as well. Most of the leagues are self-officiated and there is usually a representative from the club to keep score and ensure things don't get heated (so like a chaperon). Verdict: This is a great alternative to the gym and you get to meet new people too. http://www.mississaugassc.com/

She did a fantastic job and went the extra mile, ordering an extra water taxi for me when one of our VP's was running late from a very important meeting. Everyone who attended gave me rave reviews on the skipper and crew than ran the three 8' foot yachts I reserved. The photographer I hired through the yacht club also did an amazing job. I set up a small training session with appetizers and drinks before they sailed, and that was well done. Dinner for everyone was also reported back to my VP's and GM's as delicious and executed well. They raved about the steak. The wine selection offered to me was a great choice of red and white from Canada, US, France and Italy. They have a strict dress code. Due to weather, the skipper may cancel/change plans for the event. Turns out that when I was trying to book the place back in May, their power went out due to a large wind storm.
