It's an unusual layout because it serves as a lounge area for the Spring Valley Inn. Very large sofas take up a lot of room, but diners can have drinks in this area. Our waitress took our drink order immediately. We were told the walleye fry was good. It came with two nice sized pieces with a light breading, homemade coleslaw and red potatoes roasted in herbs. We sat at one of three tables. Signs clearly say you must order at the bar and pay at the bar. Bar maid was friendly and super efficient cooking and tending. We had burgers and fries. Wifey plain hamburger with a slice of raw onion. I had the cheeseburger and a small order of fries to share. Burgers came cooked perfectly, no pink. Meat was coarse ground and very flavorful. Slice of onion was skimpy. Probably should have asked for an additional slice. Burgers came on a toasted bun with sweet pickle slices. Burgers were hearty - good size. Prices were excellent. Best value we've had in months. Sincere compliments to the bar maid. Service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend without any reservations. You will not be disappointed. Don't be surprised if the place is busy with work crews and locals.

One person ordered the salmon and really enjoyed it. Several people ordered the Thursday special BBQ chicken and ribs. The chicken was nice and crispy and the ribs were fall off the bone delicious. I really like that they ask if you want white or dark meat chicken (and most ordered the dark). The salmon and BBQ specials were very generous. In fact most took at least 1/2 of the ribs and their side home with them. The rest of the food was fine, but no one indicated exceptional. My recommendation is go for the chicken and ribs.

Old building with radiators, also totally get that, but if the seating was staggered and that front door kept opening, it would have been miserable. The only other snafu was our secondi course of pappardelle with wild mushrooms had no mushrooms in it, like zero. The gluten free dish had a ton of them and looked really good. It wasn't worth bringing up given the timing issues, and even without the mushrooms the pasta was absolutely delicious. Scallops were cooked to perfection, though if the risotto had saffron in it I couldn't tell at all. Still, I didn't leave one single scrap on ANY of my plates. Despite any issues, the staff was so kind throughout and they were all obviously rushing around trying to get everyone everything they needed. Everything tasted incredibly fresh. On our way out, we even picked up some tomatoes and carrots from the farm table. 10/10 on everything.
