A cane pole was rented (by someone in our group) to feed the alligators. A pack of 4 hotdogs were provided with the pole. I also wanted to purchase a marshmallow gun. However, I found out that I would have to blow into the gun to shoot the marshmallows. It wasn't what I expected, so I decided to pass. - Adventure package - $10 - Gator & emu pellets - $2 - Total: $13.01 (including tax) (Prices for September 2022) The juvenile gators snatched the hotdogs quicker than the older ones. The bite-sized hot dog pieces are the perfect size for them. Samuel, an employee at the park, offered us a chance to hold a bearded dragon, variable king snake, and a gator. Samuel also invited us to watch the alligator show, which he hosted. Feeding a wild alligator in Louisiana is punishable by law (leads to loss of fear of humans) and is also a death sentence for the alligator. Texas has a sanctuary for wild alligators that have been fed, but Louisiana does not. The fine for feeding a wild alligator? $1500 per FOOT of alligator. Check out how large some of these alligators are! Samuel mentioned that an alligator named "Beef stick" is over 11.5 feet. That would be an approx. $17,250 fine. Yikes! Alligators can also jump up to 5 feet out of the water! The water in the "show" area is purposely on the "shallow" end so that they aren't able to propel themselves out of the water. We had the greatest time at this park! 10/10, would recommend! Enjoy the pictures and videos!

First of all I don't know why four people ran into me on a sidewalk. It was cool you could walk around barefoot with little baby alligators with their mouths tapped shut so they wouldn't bite people. The feeding gators show was neat but the intern kept missing the gators giant mouths at point blank range. Could use some better audio equipment. Public speaking is for anyone. I held a dragon and a snake too which was awesome and a once in a lifetime experience. I had never seen a place with a raccoon exhibit so that was interesting. No horses. A bit pricey to get into the park. 75 cents for one bag of small strawberry fruit snacks. Some of the stuffed animals were cool tho. The video playing on the tv was poorly filmed and edited. I am a professional videographer so I'd know. The deer were the best part they ran over to me and a male counterpart and we petted them like dogs. I'd go back in an instant if only to see those deer again. Gators varied in sizes some were pretty large. The rides near the gift shop weren't working when we paid for them so we had to ride them manually. Got a few cool pictures with holding baby gators. The bathrooms were small and the first time using them (yes I went 3-5 time) a man was sitting in a stall talking on his cellphone with a default telephone ring tone. There were three school buses there so I had a somewhat difficult time finding a parking spot for myself with my illustrious 15 passenger van. Emu were a different type of animal. The speech during feeding was kind of informative. Walking to the feeding felt like return of the Jedi and Ewoks because there were 3 school buses of kids walking to the show with me and my 7 masculine male people. The stands for the show reminded me of zoo tycoon. Overall an enjoyable time spent on a Tuesday morning/afternoon. Fun for the whole family even tho I don't have a family of my own. Thanks and regaurds. The road made me thirsty too. And the goats and one sheep were a lot of fun to feed and tend to and I felt invested in their little sanctuary.

This place was amazing! I am so glad I stumbled upon it while searching for an adventure on our road trip. They are big on safety for the animals as well as the visiting humans. Entry price is very reasonable as well are the prices to Dee the gators, tortoises, and other animals. The staff was amazing, very friendly, and knowledgeable.

Gator Country. A sanctuary for lots of Alligators and and a few other animals. So fun. Feed the Alligators, Tortoises, Raccoons, Deer, Ducks, and more. Wade with and Hold small Gators. Gator Feeding Show where they feed meat to them and they jump out of the water. Very informative show as well.

My husband and I had such a great time here! They are under new ownership and they are doing great job. I'm a huge fan of alligators and this place did not disappoint. We fed the alligators, goats and tortoises. We also watched the alligator feeding show. We happened to be the only ones in the park at the time of the show so we had an upfront seat to all the action. They were very informative about the alligators during the show, explaining basically anything you'd need to know about these animals and how they thrive in their habitat. After the show we were able to pet a snake, lizard and hold a baby alligator. All of the alligator trainers and employees were extremely helpful and friendly. We are definitely coming back, bringing family and friends next time.

My sisters and I visited when we were in Natchitoches for the weekend. I had no idea this place existed until a few days ahead of our trip, but while looking for things to do, we found this. We had a great time. It was fun to feed the animals, hold the small gators, snake, and big lizard. It was also fun watching the gator feeding. It was clear the staff enjoys their work. I'm so glad we came across this place and I hope to make a return trip with a few friends in the future. (Note: we had no children with us - just four 40+ women. No children required to enjoy! This is a great place for all ages.)

The place runs on whatever grants they can obtain, private donations, fund raisers and admission fees. The staff is made up of All volunteers and you can tell they love the animals but have limited funds. They are only open for visitors one day a week on Saturdays from 12-5pm to limit the amount of stress on the animals. The admission is minimal at $5 per person for adults and $4 for children aged 4-12yrs, 3yrs and under are free. The day we went was a scorcher at over 100 degrees. On our first walk around most of the cats were sleeping or lying under the shade. We stuck around for a little bit and got to see putty tat and Gomez play fighting and jumping in and out of their pool. Moses was all the way in the back of the sanctuary and popped his head up our way a few times. Boudreaux also got up and moved around as did Delilah and Samson. Samson was also in and out of his pool too. Morticia was pacing in her cage the whole time we were there. We think they were all ready to eat as we heard it was a feeding day. Unfortunately we didn't get to witness that as we had to go and no one was able to give a time as to when the feeding would take place. That would be something we wold go back to witness. They have lawn chairs, swings and umbrellas for you to sit and watch the cats, and on a cooler day I would stay for hours to observe. We went back into the office to cool off for a little bit before going back out to see them again. The stories are so sad how people think these exotic cats would make great pets until they become about 300 lbs. Others were abused or neglected, these truly are rescue cats who now have a safe permanent home and regular vet care. The office is basically a small gift shop with T-shirts, mugs, magnets etc. They also sell bottled drinks and the proceeds go back to the cats. Everyone was friendly, but I would suggest the staff (volunteers) be more professional, when taking a group on the tour and talking about each cat. The individual we had providing us a tour talked way to fast and at times mumbled. She also chose to talk while walking ahead of us so her back was to us and we couldn't hear. She was very sarcastic when explaining each cats situation and where they came from, here tone was not towards the cats but the individuals who they had to rescue these cats from. In my opinion more focus on the cats and less on the nimrods (as she liked to call them) that kept these cats as pets. I would also suggest some form of typed up sign on each enclosure which gives the back story and information. The enclosures did have name plates for each cat and a poster in the gift shop provided a picture of all the cats that are currently residing there. Currently they have 15 cats. One cat passed away last year (Robin) but he is still pictured on the poster in the gift shop in case you want to see him. This is a small place and won't take much of your day unless you just want to hang out there all day with your new friends but it's definitely a fun and interesting place to check out at least once when you're in the area. It is located about 25 minutes from our hotel (Horseshoe) and definitely worth the drive to see these beautiful cats. I will go back to observe and hopefully see a feeding.

EXCEPT the guy running the train and two men cleaning the alligator pen. The girl in the bird encounter cage was rude, seemed very annoyed by everyone walking in to visit, and talking on her phone. They have a semi decent selection of animals and the zoo itself isn't terribly small. Definitely got my steps in. I would say it's more for kids because of the size of the zoo but adults can enjoy it as well. One thing I really didn't like tho is that some of the animals seemed to be really depressed. A lot of them were pacing around their enclosures like they wanted to escape. I don't blame them cause a lot of the enclosures are WAY too small for the animal it holds. It's also not good to have them be alone. Felt really bad when I thought about it. I think the only reason I would go back is to support the animals. I mean, once you've been there once it really doesn't seem like a repeat place.

Most of the people working and managing this zoo were so lovely and kind. I really like that they give you a cone of animal feed with the purchase of your ticket (I bought 3 tickets, so I got 3 cones)! The feed really incentivizes the animals to come say hello. At this petting zoo they also have a cute splash pad, which my daughter loved and it's perfect for a cool down. Additionally, there is also a giant bouncy house in the shade. It's perfect to get the kids all sorts of stimulation. Most importantly, DO NOT MISS OUT ON THE HAY RIDE! It is worth making sure you catch the hay ride through the property as you get to see additional, much larger animals. Not only are the animals miraculous, but they come running over bc you get to feed them! The hay ride was absolutely one of my favorite parts. The only drawback during my time there was upon initially entering the office for admittance there was someone bleaching a cage. I was trying to get instructions from the staff and my daughter, who has autism, strayed over to the cage area despite me continuously telling her to come back. I got a hold of my daughter and directed her away from the area when suddenly an employee (volunteer?) sort of got in my face telling me she can't be over there and she needs to listen or something. I was like I understand, but my daughter doesn't understand due to her disability. I'm not sure she meant to come off as harsh as she did, but if you've ever tried to get instructions and control two kids at once sometimes you need a little grace from people. Other than that encounter, I found this to be a lovely outing and a great experience.
