This was a pretty nice holiday escape, did I mention they do a Christmas walk through? They have a number of stop offs (like meet Blitzer or meet Santa) in addition to a trail that has a feel similar to the downtown festival.

Trail of sadness and regret…read more The Tree Farm Massacre is disappointing. It seems to be an enterprise of diminishing yield for the consumer where the end game is to unabashedly get the most money from you while giving you the least that they can get away with. They seem to have successfully fabricated a culture of uninspiration that has filtered throughout the operation to the point where even the actors seem to bore themselves. This is the second time that we have visited the Tree Farm Massacre. Our previous visit was so delicious that we have spoken highly of it to all who would listen and organized a family get together to return there this year. When we last went they had two attractions, the Zombie paintball (which we previously skipped) and the haunted trail. The trail was previously awesome. A walk through a dark woods with occasional strobe lights, actors that actually interacted with you and tried to be scary, and several haunted house trailers. Haunted house trailers...we loved it. So this year we were excited to see that they had a new, third, attraction: a clown house. We bought the combo tickets to all three ($40/person). We even paid extra ($30/person) to upgrade to VIP tickets (which did let us skip the lines). The clown house was fun, though short. The effects were good and the actors were motivated. Later we realized that was their A-Game (which lasted maybe 5 minutes) and everything else was D-List. The Zombie Paintball was boring. The most interesting and fun part was getting stuck in the mud. Four stops to shoot zombies, the first two with one zombie each. We actually had paintballs left in our guns at the end of the ride. The trail simply sucked. It was sad to see what it is now...the entire attraction is shrouded in regret over what it had been and what it could be. Virtually the entire length of the trail is illuminated by strobe lights that do little but annoy and attempt to induce seizures. The few actors that are on the trail do little but wander around aimlessly. Often we did not even realize that they were actors. Two sat in the woods and screamed when you passed by, otherwise they were all quiet. The girl on the swing set couldn't sing a little rhyme? The girl with the baby couldn't chant a bit of coochie-coo? And most disappointing was that the haunted house trailers are gone. That is where they got the clown house from--they took the best part of the trail and made it a separate attraction just to get more money. The few structures that remain on the trail are lameness incarnate. The one with the chainsaw: the guy just stood there. The scariest part for me was the carbon monoxide exposure, while another of my party reported that she was most frightened by a certain tree branch. In all we paid $70 each for about 5 minutes worth of entertainment. True, it was our choice to pay the extra for VIP tickets, but I cannot imagine that words would have been able to convey our emotions had we spent time in those lines for such a bad experience. I truly feel for those that did. The Tree Farm Massacre has a lot of potential. The idea is good, but the execution is horrible. I hope that they can reach pass the greed to put some money and effort back into their product, but I do not think that I will be returning to see if they do and I will encourage my acquaintances to remain away as well.

I absolutely loved the trail and clown house. The hay ride was more funny the scary. Over all I…read morehad an amazing time with my hubby and would love to go again next year
