I am writing this to share my experience regarding a serious breach of professional ethics and confidentiality at this practice. I discovered that unauthorized communication, or "cross-talk," was occurring between providers without proper consent. As a client, I found this to be a direct violation of HIPAA and a significant breach of trust. Confidentiality is the foundation of the therapeutic relationship, and having my private clinical information shared behind my back was unethical and deeply distressing. Due to these concerns regarding professional conduct and the mishandling of sensitive information, I have had to terminate all services with this office. I would caution others to be very clear about their privacy expectations when seeking care here. Stay clear from Samantha stein and Victoria g. I also filed a complaint with NYS licensing board. Horrible experience, The receptionist cancelled my intake form because they did not receive my form on the online portal which I submitted prior to the appointment. They also don't have an onsite receptionist to handle these issues. Vey disappointing experience and complete waste of time. This was the location in Lynbrook not sure about other locations but this was very frustrating. read more

They were very accommodating when trying to set an appointment, but were extremely rigid in requiring credit card information. both before the appointment could be set and insisting that the credit card information be included in their online intake form. they could also not ensure that my credit card information was safe. the receptionist was extremely polite. read more

This Clinical Practice is fantastic! Don't rely on the average star rating here on Yelp. I have been in therapy for years, seen several therapists, so I know the good from the mediocre. I started at Nassau Psy several years ago. Assigned to a wonderful therapist, who later moved out of the country. He referred me to a very good associate of his, outside Nassau Psy (their other therapists were booked up) After 2 years, my new guy no longer took my insurance. I reached out again to NP's Clinical Director...who welcomed me back with open arms. I began seeing a Lead Supervisor there, who's calendar was packed, but still made time for me. I Immediately "clicked" with this new person, so knowledgeable, so personable, so bright, so perceptive, so caring, so effective....I could go on and on. My daughter has been with Nassau Psychology for approximately 3 years now. She loved her therapist, Peter. But recently she has been trying to get another job and going to doctor's appointments for a condition with her skin. So she has been cancelling some appointments before hand. Nassau Psychology has a statement in their terms and conditions that states, if a patient cancels 3 appointments in a row, they can be dropped. Now we totally understand this. However, it would be nice if they can let you know after the 2nd cancellation in a row that if you do cancel the 3rd one, you will be dropped and they are in fact adhering to this policy. No warning or reminder warning was given, after the 3rd cancellation, they simply dropped her. The issue I have with this is, this is certainly not a way to do business, especially for the type of business Nassau Psychology is in. Treating people who are mentally unstable or people who need mental therapy is not a regular business, people's lives are at stake here. We are trying our best to comfort our daughter who was very distraught when she was dropped, which led her to feeling rejected and not good enough. On top of all of that we now have to look for a new therapist which will take some time. I do feel that Nassau Psychology dropped our daughter not because of the 3 cancellations in a row that were proactively cancelled. They dropped her because they no longer accept the insurance that we have, which is GHI/Emblem. Which they stopped accepting for awhile now, and it must be an accounting nightmare on their side to manage payments from an insurance provider who they no longer accept. I do not recommend Nassau Psychology due to the fact that they really don't care for their patients and just care about making money and managing their business financial operations easier. read more

Do not waste your time!!! Connected with a therapist. She was wonderful. A few months in received a call she will no longer be with the group. The second time connected with another therapist reluctant but proceeded and after one session got a call that the therapist will no longer be with the group. There are so many things wrong with this. Please don't waste your time or trust. It will not end well. read more

i am absolutely disgusted by this place they wont allow me to sign up for therapy because i have a family court case even though i told them this has nothing to do with needing therapy i want to grieve my son!!! they refused to sign me up saying they arent qualified to handle it!! what?!!!!! it has nothing to do with me needing therapy!!!!! i want to better myself !!! as a behavorial science major i am disgusted in these people i just want to be in therapy to help myself im not asking for anyone to make a report to the court i dont want them knowing i am seeking treatment anyway!!!! i am disgusted and shocked why are you in psychology then? i am disgusted read more

Want to switch therapist every 2-3 sessions??? Come to this place. Just when you get comfortable with your therapist, you'll get another one. This place is a clown show. Stay far away. read more

My therapist was wonderful. Just the exact person I needed. While I did have trouble with the video. Portal ( only worked properly a few times) we still managed to connect by phone. I was really looking forward to "in person " sessions. Imagine my dismay upon received an email from Nassau psych that my therapist would no longer be working with them. I called the office and was informed that there was no other appropriate therapist that took my insurance. What kind of professional operation cuts off a patient from their doctor without a backup plan??? I'll tell you - an unprofessional, uncaring, callous, money grubbing operation. I left TWO messages for the person in charge-a Ms Finman- who never even bothered to return my calls. Run -don't walk- away from this place. They are not the people to entrust with your emotional well being. read more

If I could provide a lower rating I would. Be advised that the practice has great difficulty keeping providers. My son has lost services twice due to counselors leaving. They have now informed me that they no longer take my insurance and, because he needs a new counselor, he is considered a new patient. The administration is not concerned with the consequences for my son and when I tried to get information on who manages the practice, I was hung up on. They are not concerned with mental health, just the bottom dollar. read more

I'm writing this at the request of my close friend who wanted to share her experience but, because of the personal nature of therapy and stigma still associated with it in the community she lives in, isn't comfortable being public about seeking therapy. Like other reviewers said, this practice has a hard time keeping therapists. That is a big red flag if there ever was one! You MUST have a valid credit card on file. Period. If you get a new card with a new expiration date and forget to update your card with them, you'll lI kept learn the day before that your appointment was cancelled! So stay on top of that if you go here. Once you're registered, you get an appointment with a therapist. A few days before your appointment you get a call saying your assigned therapist is no longer there and you'll be seeing someone else now and are scheduled a week later. You see that person for 4 sessions. Then you get notified that that therapist is no longer with the practice. You get assigned to another therapist who you see for 3 sessions and then you are told she is no longer there! At that point they try to assign you to yet another therapist and you're fed up and refuse. They assign you anyway then you are notified that you didn't keep the appointment that you never made! If You are considering going here, please look at their website and carefully review the credentials of the therapists working here. Most are very recent graduates and some even have "limited" licenses. Would you see a doctor with a "limited license"? Another friend had an awful experience here when they were away for two weeks and then tried to schedule an appointment and was told that their insurance was accepted. Again, no referral, just left hanging. That should have been a warning for me. read more

Maybe my understanding of what therapy is is different than from what others think it is, but I don't feel I experienced what I would call "therapy" here. The receptionist on the phone was pleasant, confirmed that my insurance was accepted and I was thrilled with the option to do teletherapy which I gladly took. I was also told that my therapist was experienced with the issue that I was coming to therapy for. Well, my therapist's experience seemed limited to assigning me worksheets to complete each session from a workbook. Frankly, I could have purchased a workbook, possibly even the same one, and worksheets online from a self help website and gave myself the same therapy. To me, therapy is about exploring how the problem developed and about the therapeutic relationship with the therapist. I never felt a therapeutic relationship with my therapist here. When I tried to discuss matters of concern I was redirected to the worksheets. I kept getting a feeling that my therapist was inexperienced and and only knew therapy as assigning and reviewing worksheets. I ended up finding a therapist elsewhere who is addressing my underlying issues. read more
