My wife purchased the 8 minute experience for me in Jun 2020 for Fathers Day at a cost of $358.99. The certificate clearly states that it "never expires" nor is there any clause that prices are subject to change. I finally got around to using it in June 2023 (3 yrs later) and when I made the reservation I was informed that prices had went up and it would be an additional $140 for 8 minutes. I explained the no expiration, no subject to price change but to no avail. They finally agreed to give me a 10% discount to keep it at 8 minutes (instead of 5) Prorated it cost me an extra $91.99 for a total of $450.98. So I'm a little ticked already. The cars have a rev limiter that limits your RPM's to 4000 to start and progressing 200 each lap you hit your marks from the spotter. I was hitting about 5200 rpm's on my 5th and final lap. I was issued a certificate stating I reached a speed of 143.26 mph which was absolutely hog wash. My lap times were about 51 seconds which translate to about 108mph on a 1.5 mile track. I enjoyed the laps but was disappointed in the customer service and the inflated speed certificate. Just be aware before booking your experience.

Head's up! This is a mixed review. We went to the Charlotte Motor Speedway yesterday for my husband to do the Checkered Flag Experience for our anniversary. We arrived as instructed yesterday at 1120 for check-in for our 1200 reservation. We were promptly greeted and my husband was checked in, suited, photographed and sold the "better package" which includes complete video of his three sessions, a plaque, a shirt and hat. It was fair in my opinion. We didn't have to wait long before we were in a room with the instructor Drake. The informative session was really well done. He kept good time too. Shortly after everything was wrapped up we were taken to the track. Once we were at the track we saw that there was a rather large company function of at least 30 people waiting around to drive. My husband didn't get to a car for 2 hours! In my opinion this was very poor time management on NASCAR's part. Our reservation time should have been later due to the rather large group ahead of us. We just sat on the side in sweltering heat waiting with no fans or fresh cold water. This was miserable and disappointing. Even made me kinda sick from being so hot. However, my husband thoroughly his driving experience. He topped out at 156 mph and did really really well! His spotter was great and told my husband how maximize his speed without hitting the governor. He really helped to make my husband's performance and experience the best. Definitely worth the money for the Checkered Flag Experience as he wound up having a total of 24 laps. We got phenomenal footage of his drive which was totally worth the extra money. Checkout afterwards was quick and easy too. I do also want to note that everyone was very friendly and helpful. Staff was on par. You should know how to drive a manual transmission too! My husband has plenty of experience with our Corvette, so it was super easy for him. Plus there are only 4 gears! You're in 4th gear by the time you exit the pit. However, there were a few poor guys that could barely get the car out of the pit because they couldn't drive manual transmission. This holds everything up for everyone. Not fun. Now if NASCAR could learn better time management skills, that would be great! Even offer cold refreshments to those who have to wait extremely long periods due to their lack of time management skills.

My son and I had the best time! We did the experience in Charlotte. Start to finish was an incredible experience for both of us'! Highly recommend this experience! The staff was friendly and made us feel right at home ! I can't wait to go back again and drive the cars!

I really want to give them more stars. I did an 8 AM session at Charlotte. I added more segments (3 eight minute segments for 24 minutes total) to get up to 5400 RPM, meaning more speed. Yes, you don't automatically get top speed, or even anywhere near it. You have to buy more segments to get more RPMs, meaning more speed, Check in was fine except for printer issues. Safety video was good. Just me and one other person, so waiting for cars wasn't an issue. Suit up and out to the track. My first 8 minute segment the radio was worthless. Spotter was completely static and I couldn't understand him. New helmet for me, new radio for spotter. My in car camera also didn't work, so no video from segment 1. They replaced the camera. During that segment, I thought I was hitting the rev limiter constantly. But I was intentionally keeping it below the limit, and the car kept missing. Segment 2, car kept missing and backfiring on the back stretch. Spotter kept telling me to quit letting off the gas. I wasn't letting off the gas! The car kept spitting and sputtering. Segment 3, car actually shuts off on the back stretch. Spotter has now really pissed me off accusing me of letting off the gas. I'm screaming into the radio that it's the car, not me. They bring me in, and the head mechanic said it was a fuel pump issue. They got me out of the car and fixed it. They gave me another 8 minute segment. Backstory-At the beginning of each segment, the first lap is limited to 4,000 RPM. (Boring!) Then, assuming you do well, they increase it 200 RPM each lap. Because I paid for 24 minutes, my maximum RPM was 5400. Except, because the car kept misfiring, I never went fast enough for them to let me go above 5000 RPM to 5400 RPM, which is what I paid for. And each segment, they start you over at 4,000 RPM. BULLCRAP! My 4th segment, when the car finally ran right, I did finally get to the 5400 RPM for the last 2 laps. That's what I paid for! I should have been happy, but that just made me realize how badly the first 3 segments were, and that I did not get what I paid for. I appreciate the free 4th segment. If not for it, this would be a 1 star review. But I still feel like I didn't get what I paid for. I absolutely hate the tiered RPM situation. If I went 5,000 one segment, then the next should start there, not back at 4,000. When I went to the merchandise trailer to check out, they didn't have my certificate. The printer was broken. . No idea what my lap times or speeds were. They'll mail me the certificate. When I got home and looked at the video (they give it to you on a SD card), there was only video from the 3rd segment. Nothing from segments 1, 2, or 4. I know it was the 3rd segment because that's the segment the car completely shut off during, and you can hear it in the video. That was expensive for just 1 segment of video! I definitely wouldn't buy it again. As for the staff, they were all extremely friendly. The check in manager dude, the crew chief, even the helmet issuers. This was a bucket list item for me. Something I've always wanted to do before I die. Well, that time is getting near, and although I completed this bucket item, the bucket had a hole in it. Overall, I'm disappointed. If they hadn't given me the 4th segment where I finally got up to speed, I'd be extremely angry. Personally, I feel they owe me 2 more good segments, but that won't happen.

    Super Thrill!

However, the customer service (before and after) is terrible. Like the previous review by K.S. states, calls and emails go unanswered and unreturned. I purchased the video of my experience and was told, in person and writing, that it would be sent in 2-3 weeks. After 6 weeks and no video or phone call from RWR, I called was informed it would be another 3-4 weeks. This is a poor way to run a business. If I showed up to the racing experience 8 weeks late, I would be turned away. Why should a business be any different?

Wound up staying for 2.5 hours and watched a total of 6 people do their ride alongs - still had 20 more numbers to go before they were to get to me. No communication. No leadership. Few signs. The gals in the trailer "headquarters" were nice, but clueless. Got rescheduled for Saturday morning at 9:30 - first timeslot - and told to come early because they could start at 9:00. After 3 more hours of waiting around, I finally got my 5 minutes of fun. Again, no organization or communication. I wasted a half day of vacation to go stand around while watching the chaos and disorganization. Then I had to return to stand around for another half a day. Everyone participating was frustrated both days. They do have deals on Groupon etc., and now I know why they have to offer those. I don't think I'd do it again, no matter how cheap OR even free for that matter! My time is worth more than that. Very disappointed in the way no one seemed to care that we were standing there for hours on end. Spend the extra money and go to a worthwhile organization. Just read the reviews about the RWRE at all the tracks. I think the statistics speak for themselves.

Even though it was after Christmas, it was still an awesome experience. I truly wish more people knew about because it is so worth the time the money. It's the largest Christmas expedition on the East Coast and we've had great memories both times. This is our second year going and we enjoyed our time this year more than the first. The first part is you driving in your car as you see all of the super cool light fixtures while listening to Christmas music that corresponds to the lights. The kids (and us), we're in love with the different themes that we saw along the way. Very vibrant and bold colors that really don't do it justice through a camera lens. It's something you truly do have to see in person to get the full picture. There's also a movie playing on the Jumbotron that you can listen to while you're riding around or you can park and watch the movie with your family. This year we did the VIP skip line for $96. I will say that it seems as if in the VIP there wasn't as many light fixtures while riding in the car as there was in previous years. I'm not sure if we seen less exhibits because our route was shorter. That would be our only complaint. You do pay by a car/ van so I would say if you could take as many people with you in one vehicle. Once you get to the halfway point there, there's an area where you can park and then you can get out. Here is part two where you go to all of the different vendors that are inside the heated area. There's so much to do. You can take pictures with Santa. You can get your character made until cartoon portrait . There's free events where kids can make Christmas ornaments win prizes color take pictures with the themed Christmas tree trees (that were so so cute by the way.) They had a bar for the adults and hot chocolate and popcorn for the kids. When you go outside of the tent, there's part 3, a world with outdoor activities. There is an area for Christmas carols tubing that had artificial snow. Theres bonfires with s'mores. Ann area with a bunch of food trucks to choose from. There's hundreds of photo opportunities where there are huge, beautiful light fixtures that you can walk and see along the track. It's literally something for the entire family to enjoy or even a date night if there's something that you would like to do. This is something that my family will continue to do in the years to come.

Typically we avoid holiday crowds (that's to keep the season merry, ya know?), & I'd heard from other friends that the crowds this year were excessive. However, I would recommend going to this on a weekday that isn't too busy or too close to Thanksgiving or Christmas. Was a unique and fun way to hang in the car celebrating yuletide while watching artistry of lights and music with friends. Was exciting for the men in the car to know we were driving on the actual speedway too. Glad our driver didn't take us up on to 'high bank' of the roads as he promised to do earlier. Know that you won't be able to hop out of your car to take pics or use the bathroom there, and there is no swag to purchase. (Would have loved that option as a unique gift for friends.) Note: If you go, you're supposed to turn your head lights off so they don't detract from the light show. Was a bummer when folks kept theirs on, because the headlights would sometimes be blinding! Also note: If you go during a wknd- which is more expensive- there is a place for kids to go (& I'm guessing you can THEN get out of your car). They also usually show a Christmas-themed movie on those nights...not sure how exactly that works, but sounded fun.

So this year, I joined him and we drove their IndyCars. The 1 mile oval allowed them running three or four cars at a time; drivers along with one pro ride-along. Big 12 and 1 PM groups meant a long queue for our 8 minute runs (no big deal, but a lot of standing and waiting). The IndyCar cockpit is very narrow and long. Even my 6' tall cousin needed a few back cushions to allow pushing in the clutch. The full-face helmet is very tight and the opening is small, as expected. I received almost unintelligible driving advice from an audio feed through the helmet; loud, staticky, poor quality, inconsistent. The engine has a "chip" which limits the engine and car speed. The coach advises to ease into the throttle entering the straight away, then on to full throttle. This is in contradiction to "find the sweet spot" which is a little less than full throttle. My cousin understood this and recording a 125 mph. I did not figure it out, and recorded 112 mph. This was all very frustrating and disappointing...not losing to my cousin, but driving such a performance limited set-up. I've had more excitement driving my sporty SUV on I-95 through CT and NY or over the Cape Cod canal bridges. You may love it. Once is enough for me.

This was an amazing experience at a racetrack that is a NASCAR legend. We had never been to anything like this and weren't sure what to expect. There are plenty of opportunities to purchase food at one of the concession stands. Typical event food such as pizza, chicken tenders and fries, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches, nachos, etc. are available at reasonable prices. There are also specialty vendors which we assume change depending on the race. Tonight, there were opportunities to have apple cider mini doughnuts, ice cream, boiled peanuts, cookies, deep fried Oreos and frozen drinks. They also have merch for purchase. It appears that at one end of the stadium is the beer garden area but we did not check that out. We did not see alcohol served anywhere else but the suites and beer garden area. It does appear that coolers are allowed. There were signs when exiting the suites that said, "No alcohol beyond this point". Overall, this was a great experience.
