I've always had a hard time maintaining my hair (I have curly hair type 3b) which caused me To have damaged hair. RUN FAR, FAR AWAY!!!!!!!!! Worst experience!! I asked Lola to highlight my hair a fantasy color-lavender. She explained to me that with my very dark hair color it will not come out light purple the first try. I completely understand that! I get it! I told her as long as my hair is in the purple family. She first bleached my hair & then applied what she said was purple dye over the bleached hair. My hair was finished in four friggen hours even though the place was completely dead. She never once even offered me a glass of water. So while she was blow drying my hair I said OMG! this is nottttttt what i wanted at alllllll. My hair was RED. No where near purple. It was bright red. On top of that it wasn't only red... it was blonde! I had red & blonde hair. The reason y it was blonde was bc she didn't completely cover the bleached hair. I had patches of blonde all over my head bc it wasn't properly dyed. & on top of thatttt it was not evenly dispersed!!! one side has bigger chunks of red than the other side & it just looks so messy. It was not professionally done. I pointed out the blonde & the blotchy spots & her argument was that my hair was very dark and did not take in those spots. I complained about the color & she said when i came back in two weeks to do a toner (and pay more money) that it would get closer to the color i wanted. I left unhappy bc i didn't know any better at that time. Its been almost two weeks since then. I didn't want to go back to her so i went to a number of different salon consultations in Manhattan & they advised me to go back to her so she can fix the mess that she made free of charge since it was not what i asked for. I called her and very calmly explained to her why i was unhappy with her work. She ended up yelling at me with a nasty attitude, talking over me, & wouldn't let me finish my sentences. She said she will not fix my hair at no charge bc I should have told her the day after (even though all the other colorists said i should go before a month). This is not how you treat people especially when you are in the wrong. Their prices are just as much as Manhattan salons. If you want to pay top dollar for a shitty hair colorist then BINGO this is the place for you! read more

The woman (not Narda) did a lovely job, but she added a "deep conditioner" that she said I needed, which I'm now certain contained relaxer. She damaged a lot of my natural curls. A couple of stops away from where I live now, which is close to this Salon. I had a baby 3 months ago, and I hadn't done my hair in a long time. I was looking for a hair salon with Spanish style, because I am Spanish and my hair is very curly. So I used my google app and it let me to Narda's hair salon. I walked in @ 10:00am and there was no one in the salon. Just me and Narda. I said "hi" and told her I needed to get a new color. I wanted black. And that also perhaps she could look at my hair and cut my ends. I wanted to cut a bit more than I did 2 weeks ago. She said, "sure, we will get you pretty, don't worry." And proceeded to continue to text on her phone. I over looked how rude that was because perhaps it was important. I was rushing that day because I left my baby with my husband. But I just politely asked again as she continued to text, then sent her last text and went to the bathroom. Then came out and said "why black?" I told her that I used to color my hair lighter and I just didn't have the time that light hair needed for upkeep. She then told me that black is boring and that I should look at her hair color book, and convinced me to do a light color. I said "ok." It was December 31st. Why not? She told me that she uses top products and that after adding hair color, washing hair, cutting hair, it was going to be $175. I was like wow? That's so much. I even texted my husband and he was outraged I have been to top salons on 50st in midtown and I have been charged $150 max. I was thinking, it was ridiculous. But I was thinking perhaps tip is added or something. So I accepted. She washed my hair, then colored it. Then she cut it. Then she washed it again, and put it in rollers. It was around 12 noon now and she finally begins to dry it. When the hair starts taking form, i see that it just looks completely weird and I ask her to fix it, that's not what the cut is supposed to be. It had some sort of bob style. My hair was in layers and was supposed to look just a bit shorter and not this new haircut. So I ask now that she fixes it. She kept saying that because my hair was a certain way it couldn't be done what I wanted. She kept cutting but just kept doing it wrong, no matter what I asked. Her sister now walks into the salon and she offers to help, she finally gives me the cut I want. And fixes the messed up parts. She also dries my hair better and flat irons it. It was 3:30pm and I was a bit annoyed it took forever, but now it was time to pay and get out of here. I go to the cashier with Lola and Narda said. "Make her a $200 slip to pay." I was like huh? $200? Are you crazy? You said 175! She said she put on me her expensive Toner and that she also had to fix my hair. And that is worth $200. I was like no, you said $175. I don't have $200 to pay. I already think $175 is way too crazy. She then yelled at me that she has been doing my hair since 10am, 10am to get it perfect for me. I told her, how is that my fault?! You said you'd do it, you took your time. Now her sister says, hey? It isn't that much. Just $25 more plus you gotta pay for tax. Now I was just to my limit? Tax?! You gave me a flat fee. This is the hood! I'm not buying a pair of shoes! I said I could pay $175. They kept arguing and so did I. By this time, Narda had taken a lil girl and her grandma to do the girl's hair, and said. Look she is got her hair cut and washed and dried and she has to pay tax. Her total is $77. I was like oh man! That's still a lot! I told her that I was gonna go to the cashier and get $175, she followed me annoyed and talking the whole way. I came back to say , "I'm sorry, I just couldn't pay that much." I was so angry I already paid so much for all of it and that I had been there for so long and at the end try to get more ripped off than before. I cried! I just recommend that if you ever go here, have $500 in your pocket. Because the prices will keep changing on you. I know this because I've had my hair done at this salon a few times. He was charged $102 for both girls. I came to this hair salon because it was highly recommend by a coworker who usually does highlights and hair treatments at the salon. I was well aware that this salon was very expensive but since my coworker spoke so highly of her I decided to give it a try. Although this is a lot of money I decided to do it since I desperately wanted a new change. While I'm sitting on the chair she tells me I have to first strip my hair and then get a toner and in 2 weeks return back to the salon to get highlights since my hair was very dark. I agree since I warned her that my hair usually picks up orange red tone and I hated that color. She promise it would be ash blonde and to not to worry but there is an extra fee of 50 dollars so i would have to pay a total of 250 dollars at the end. I said okay lets do it. After stripping my hair for an hr, the owner of the salon comes in and tells me to get ready to pay 500 dollars. I literally wanted to run out of the salon. The other lady who works there clearly told me one price at the beginning and i agree to pay 250 which is still a lot of money. When i ask her to explain where the other 250 dollars come from she said time and products. I understand that the products are expensive but she really shouldn't tell a client one price at the beginning and double it while she is processing your hair. I would have never done my hair to begin with. Unfortunately I couldn't leave since the bleach on my hair left it orange so I needed to finish the hair coloring process. In the end my hair came out orange blonde. I paid 600 dollars for a color I said didn't want and she insisted me to come next week to do highlights for another 300 dollars. More than I expected to pay in this neighborhood, but okay, fine. After spending not more than two minutes cutting my hair, she tried to charge me $36. She played dumb when I told her she'd told me $25. I guess she saw she wasn't going to get away with that with me so I was given a receipt for $26 (I believe the extra dollar was a credit card fee). I can't believe all the other reviewers who seemed to just accept that she lied about the price! Don't let her get away with that or better yet, don't go!
