Don't often review non-restaurant businesses, but since this is related to restaurants (after all, how do you go out if you have kids, if not for babysitters), and we found a great sitter through this business, I wholeheartedly endorse them for anyone who has a fancy dinner reservation in Napa somewhere. We corresponded with owner Maggie via their form, then via phone, with followup by email. After my wife talked to Maggie and explained our situation, Maggie sent over a few choices, and we chose Van. Van followed up with questions about our routines, favorite things, etc. Everything indicated that their priorities were on the right track. We were staying at the River Terrace Inn and Van met us there on schedule. We met her, with our daughter (2 yrs old), in the lobby, and after being offered a toy, our daughter started to warm up to Van. We went back to our room and Van proceeded to unload all the toys she brought, and soon, she and our daughter were best pals. Van was great, proactively engaging, talking to her, getting her to play. By the time we left, our daughter barely acknowledged that we were leaving. While we were gone, Van updated us via text and photo. She fed our daughter, who ate quite a lot, which is a telling sign that she feels comfortable with her caregiver, and even more surprising, she went to sleep on schedule -- probably because all that playing with Van tired her out. We are very pleased and are happy that we can plan a future Napa overnight trip, with a fancy dinner. read more

This is long over due review! We were there in Feb 2020 and the nanny we hired was very nice and she arrived on time and everything went very smooth! My baby was about 4 months old at that time and we went out for dinner so she helped us babysit for about 4.5 hours. The agent is very responsive and truthful. Follow up review before stay 2: Just nasty and argumentative. Initial review before stay 1: Used Napa Valley Nanny for a seamless experience for a recent visit to Napa. I appreciated how thorough I felt the sitters were vetted and the pre-and-post communication. One negative star.... We ended up coming back to the room around 1.5 hours before the scheduled end time but were charged the full amount. I haven't read through the contract to see how that's supposed to be addressed but it's not a pay-per-hour service it's a fixed fee apparently. Napa Valley Nanny to the rescue! We live in Hawaii, so when we secured reservations to French Laundry, I didn't know what I was going to do with the kids. We don't know anyone in Napa so I asked the concierge at Hotel Yountville if they recommend any sitters in the area. Luckily for us, they highly recommended Napa Valley Nanny (NVN). I've never used a nanny service before and wasn't sure how it was going to work out. This is how it all went down, 1 month prior... SEND IN REQUEST I sent in my request online and got an email response quickly followed by a phone call from Maggie, owner of NVN. She asked questions about the kids to see which nanny would make a good fit. She asked if I had any concerns; I explained to her that the date/time is not flexible, and what would happen if the nanny got sick or had car trouble and couldn't make it? She assured me that her sitters are all reliable (i.e. won't flake out), and she would have a back up nanny just in case something did come up because they take French Laundry and Meadowwood reservations very seriously. SIGN CONTRACT and PAY BOOKING FEE Once the perfect person was selected, I signed the contract which listed the rate $20/hr, 4-hr minimum, plus gas fee to be paid directly to the sitter at the time. (Rates vary depending on how many kids, ages of kids, special needs etc). I paid a $35 booking fee online and was set. It might seem steep but way cheaper and less painful than taking kids to French Laundry. I received a short bio of the nanny along with the clean background check and copy of her CPR/first aid card. EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION Maggie did an awesome job answering all my questions and after talking with her, I was confident everything would work out. When Laly (aka the kid-sitter, as my kids called her) called two days before to confirm the date and the time, my kids started freaking out. How did I find her? Do I trust her? What if they don't like her? OMG I think they were more worried than I was! I told them the hotel recommended NVN and she was hand picked for them because she's really good at "non-media games". The kids have never had a stranger watch them in a city and hotel they aren't familiar with, they normally go out with us whenever we travel but this was the exception and they were not liking it. PROFESSIONAL, PUNCTUAL, and PERFECT On the day of our reservation, I was so excited about getting ready for dinner that I forgot to get food for the kids!! When Laly arrived (right on time, I might add) I told her I had just ordered pizza to the hotel room, so could she feed them and make sure they brush their teeth before they go to sleep. No problem she said. She asked if the kids had any food allergies or if there was anything she had to look out for. She also asked for a second cell number just in case she couldn't get in touch with mine. In the short 10 minute interaction I had with her, I was already impressed...and off we went. Laly brought her bag of tricks: lots of board games, Jenga, Connect Four, and so many things to keep them entertained that they forgot about their iPads! They had so much fun playing different games that they didn't want to go to bed. Maggie had told me that a lot of kids like to wait up for their parents but I told Laly that I had a strict bedtime because we had an early morning the next day, so she got them to do their bedtime routine and go to sleep on time. How do I know all of this? My kids told me. When my son woke up the next day, the first thing he said was "Laly was the best kid-sitter! I give her 5-stars!" and my daughter said "Can you just call Laly to watch me again today so I don't have to drive all over the place with you guys!?" Our family traveled alongside another family from Truckee to Calistoga for a little RnR. The adults wanted an evening off from the kiddos and Maggie was the perfect person for our little pod. She came with a bag full of fun activities that had our kids excited for hours. Maggie has the type of personality you expect and want to be able to engage young children. We planned a last minute trip to Napa for our anniversary (less than 2 weeks) and I had found Napa Valley Nanny through an online search. I had put in a request for some dates and times, and received a very prompt reply from Maggie. I wasn't sure they'd even be able to accommodate us because we were so last minute, but she was very flexible in offering us some alternatives. We had a nanny for 5-9PM for 2 days of our 3 day trip. We filled out a questionnaire about our 15 month old daughter, providing details about her routine, what she likes, etc. We also received a bio, background check info, and a reference about our nanny. We had nanny Maria and she was phenomenal! She contacted us prior to the trip and really incorporated the information from the questionnaire into what she brought with her. Our daughter loves books, music, and putting things together, and Maria arrived with all of these things. Our daughter kept looking in Maria's little bag for more goodies. Our daughter barely even looked at us when we told her goodbye, as she was so engrossed with Maria. Maria texted us with pictures while we were out, showing us that our daughter was having a good time. Nanny Van watched our energetic 4-year-old and 6-year-old boys in our hotel for a long afternoon/evening while we attended a wedding in Napa -- normally, our kids can't be contained indoors for more than an hour, but Van was so great, she brought a number of games and activities with her, the boys LOVED her and were fully occupied and happy in the hotel while we were gone. OUTSTANDING! From the initial call with Maggie to go over our needs, to our pre-appointment dialogue with our nanny, Maria, everything was clear and seamless. Our kids (age 6) had a great time time with Maria, who brought arts and crafts for them to work on, along with board games and books. She was even able to get them to fall asleep before we got home, which is sometimes hard for a new sitter especially in an unfamiliar setting of a hotel (Westin Verasa Napa). We hired her for two nights while we attended dinners/events that were not kid friendly and could not be more satisfied with the experience. I have used Napa Valley Nanny twice now, and I can't say enough great things about Maggie and her wonderful staff. After having to fire my daycare provider for gross negligence, I had to take over daily care for my infant daughter, and balancing that was rough. I couldn't take time off work, but I also couldn't find a quality daycare either that could take my child. So, grandparents chipped in at times, and Napa Valley Nanny came to the rescue recently, for one day that I needed help for a full day of childcare. We were so lucky to get Charlene. Not only did her bio impress me (yes, you get a full bio of your nanny right away when you book services) but Charlene and I made contact before the service and I was very happy with her bright and happy demeanor and you could tell she knew what she was doing. I was not able to be present when Charlene arrived to start caring for my daughter, but throughout the day, Charlene would text me pictures and short videos of her time with Chenault. I couldn't have been happier to see how happy and full of life my baby was with her, as if she'd known her since birth. She constantly complimented my daughter and shared what she was doing with her - which put me at ease and made me smile throughout my workday. Charlene even waited a few minutes to meet me when she could have gone home for the day, since my husband arrived home before I did to release her after paying her for her services. I was so happy to meet her and, even more thrilled to see how professional she was. She left three pages of information with me. A receipt showing payment, a invoice with her signature, and a full description of the day. I was able to see how many times and at what time my child was fed, how many times and at what time my child was changed (and even whether it was a pee or a poo), and the schedule of events throughout the day that my baby napped and played. I felt so confident that Chenault had rested enough during the day and was also stimulated properly. Charlene helped her with Tummy time, played Baby Einstein music with her (and commented on how Chenault mimicked the right notes on time...cute) and gave her human contact one on one time as well. Napa Valley Nanny is the best service there is. I am a repeat customer and will continue to use this service for all my non-permanent placement nanny services. We were extraordinarily pleased with our services from Napa Valley Nanny. We used them 4 separate times over the course of our trip and had 3 different caregivers and every single one of them were amazing. Maggie is impressively on top of everything and makes you feel completely at ease. She also watched the kids one of the days and she is a magnificent caretaker in addition to running her business well. Our other two caregivers, Yasmin and Teresa, were fabulous - I would hire them both again. They brought toys for the kids, wanted to know details about what the kids liked, texted us pictures and updates throughout the day.... I am very finicky about who I leave my children with and I admit that I was a little scared about leaving my 3 kids (ages 1, 4, 7) with a nanny service that I had only read reviews about (admittedly they were all good reviews). The first day I was scared when I left my kids, the next day I just felt a little uncomfortable but on the 3rd and 4th days I was not even mildly concerned because I knew my children were safe and having fun! We used Napa Valley Nanny on a Saturday from 10:30-6:00, while we did a winery tour for my husband's corporate retreat. Our nanny Van was excellent! We all enjoyed her. She managed both boys (ages 8 & 11) very well, brought lots of games and crafts, took the boys bowling (our hotel, The Meritage, had a bowling alley), and she was prepared to take them swimming, but it was a little chilly. The boys had fun playing Monopoly and other games with Van, and we enjoyed our winery tours with peace of mind. She was wonderful in asking about dietary restrictions, screen time allowed, etc. Maggie (the owner) was also wonderful to work with when scheduling. She sent us a bio on Van, her background check, drivers license, and her CPR certification, so we definitely felt comfortable leaving our boys with her. read more

Unpleasant experience. Hard to get a hold of. The owner discouraged staying at the Airbnb, because she stated that it might be distracting to others around us if the child is acting out and screaming loudly while staying with the sitter. I asked her to contact me in the case if my child is inconsolable and so distraught that others are being bothered around. She again said that it was not something she would recommend, because it might upset the child even further. I felt uncomfortable after this conversation, because the owner's response to my concerns was "it's a negative", she was also unsure if she had anyone available (note: I was looking for a sitter in advance) and informed me that she would get back to me if someone is identified. I had to email her to inquire once again after hearing no response, I contacted another agency that responded instantaneously. I chose another agency because of better communication and their ability to answer my questions and alleviating my anxiety about leaving my child in the care of a nanny we were not familiar with. read more

Napa Nanny watched the children in my family during a family event on a vineyard estate in Sonoma! They were punctual, professional, and playful with the children. It was easy to enjoy being with the adults with all the activities going around us including the chef's crew cooking in the kitchen, blind wine tasting contest, and speeches.
