Rude customer service finding parts over the phone and offering very little to no assistance.

But they wanted to replace my water pump and pulley for $650+ because "there were surface cracks" on the water pump pulley. And they wanted to replace my license plate bulbs for $95 because they were burnt out. I've owned 4 Mini Coopers; surface cracks on the water pump pulley are expected; "Surface cracks (1) form on the drive pulley over time. These cracks are normal and have no effect on the integrity of the friction surface..." https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2015/MC-10147906-9999.pdf And I bought new license plate bulbs at Napa for $14, popped out the license plate lamps with a pocket knife, and swapped out the bulbs in 5 minutes. Mini of Murray suggested repairs that were not needed. Shady service department. I'll be posting my experience on Social Media and warning all other Mini Cooper owners. Shame on your service department! Shame shame!" Love you guys at NAPA Auto Parts - you rock!

Car ownership is such a pain, especially if you're a noted cheapskate like myself. My current old…read moreJeep (Just Empty Every Pocket) is now shedding functional parts at an alarming rate. Thankfully for my old Heep and unfortunately for my pocketbook there's the experts at NAPA who can find the parts so I can get my old 4x4 problem child back on the paved trails of Salt Lake. The real benefit of this NAPA location is that its the part warehouse for the SLC area. If you need something and NAPA doesn't have it in stock its most likely coming from their warehouse connected to this retail location. So when they say, "oh it looks like this parts only in the warehouse"... that warehouse is probably 100 ft from the register they're looking the part up on. It makes for a quick pickup of some harder to find parts. The pricing is usually roughly the same as Autozone & O'Reilly's. Sometimes you'll find its a few bucks higher at NAPA. One thing to keep in mind, if you're a AAA member you can get 10% off on anything you buy at NAPA. That includes parts for your busted ride. They also carry all your assortments of random auto trinkets, oil, lubes and other replaceables for your auto. Overall this location is a little out of my way but I always make sure I call or swing by when I'm looking for a part. They know what they're talking about and usually can get a hold of what I need in a short amount of time. Make sure you take advantage of their "NAPA Know How" just like the commercial says...

There was one guy at the counter that was doing some paper works and he didn't really want to help me. He just kind of snob me off and then pointed to the direction I need to go. I know in other places such as oreiley and autozone those people can look up your car information and tell you exactly what you need. Well apparently no one offered me this. Instead I was standing by the bulb section staring at my phone googling to see what I need. Many people walked passed me with the blue Napa polo shirts and no help was offered until this nice guy who saw me and asked if I needed any help with my confused look in my eyes. He quickly found what I need on the computer and right when I was about to check out another problem occurred. Apparently right here no one is allowed to help you with anything for your car. Again I will be comparing it to autozone and o Reilly....they have both helped me replace bulbs/battery packs/other stuff. I wouldn't recommend people to come to this Napa auto parts especially if you are a novice at car part replacements. Go to oreiley or autozone which is right down the street.

This was the first repair that was needed outside of my warranty and outside of VW. These guys were honest and straightforward about what was wrong and the cost and the recommendations they provided. They were responsive and communicated to me about the timeline in which it would be completed, when the part was delayed a day, they made sure I knew and I never had to call them for an update. Stress of a broken down car was as minimal as it could be and I will definitely return as the need arises. Thanks so much!!!

This is one of the first negative reviews I've ever written for a business, and I'm doing so after…read moremuch careful consideration because although I feel truly wronged, I dont want to make trouble for anyone. That said, having just made the first of many credit card payments for work I never would have had done given the full scope of what my vehicle needed, I feel compelled to prevent this from happening to anyone else. While the actual work done here seems fairly competent, the diagnostic process seems about as accurate as playing darts blindfolded. I brought my car in because it was creaking misfiring, and the check engine light was on. I told them that I believed my engine mounts were worn out and that I also needed a diagnoses for the misfiring. They told me that the cause for the misfiring was likely that my spark plugs and ignition coils were worn out, because that usually happens around 100k miles and my vehicle was past that. I agreed to have them replaced along with new engine mounts, to the tune of $2,600. I was told that after this my vehicle would be like a totally different car. The very next day, my car misfired again and the check engine light came back on. When I brought it back, they informed me that they don't have any way of knowing this fo sure, but I probably actually had a blown head gasket. I brought my car to a different mechanic shop who did a full and complete diagnostic from bumper to bumper and took photos of everything wrong with the car- from a blown head gasket to a leaking transmission to almost completely worn wheel bushings and a host of other problems totaling over $8,200 in addition to the $2,600 I had already paid at Red Rock Auto. Had I known this in the first place, I never would have paid $2,600 on a doomed old van that needed almost $11,000 in work done. I had to buy a new van and that $2,600 would have really helped with the down payment. I'm tempted to say that I feel duped, but I don't think there was any malice or fraud going on- just general laziness or incompetence in the diagnostic process that very negatively affected me.
